The Kepara is also one of my favorite edc knives! I like the way it cuts and the carry profile. It looks great and works great. I carry mine when I won’t be doing any hard use tasks which is much of the time. Recently, I have been carrying the Gayle Bradley 2 with Cru Wear blade for more hard use. I like it too for carving and cutting. Although, I kind of wish for the geometry of the GB1. Thanks for the disassembly video on the Kepara. I don’t think I realized there was a bushing on the pivot.
I like your video as it is. I like its length, I like your non-hectic way of talking and going in depth. I watched the whole video, even though I already own (and love) my two Kaparas. I just regret that I did not buy the CPM-20cv exclusive. Nothing against s30v, but I would love to see it in 20cv or even Magnacut, that would be great. I have a cqi Kapara and a Sage5 which both have the pivot bushing which give them that ultra smooth action. I also have a new s45vn PM2 and I could be wrong but I think it also has the pivot bushing. Interesting video.
Decisions, decisions…this model is priced higher than many of the other Spyderco knives, but I see no need to replace the carbon fiber scales like I would for G10 or the G10 with the carbon fiber laminate on the Smock.
Nice presentation, thanks! On the smaller Spyderco knives like the Chaparral I love wire clips; they look great and are very comfortable, but on larger knives like this they look completely out of place and don’t provide enough support. Thanks for the detailed look at this model. 👍
@@pericodelospalotes5738 I did pickup one just a couple weeks after this and you’re right, and I shouldn’t have generalized. Fits and feels great in my pocket, and the knife is lightweight and held firmly with the wire clip. One of my top three Spyderco’s now!
Really liked your video, please don't cut the length, had two relaxing beers anticipating my own Kapara (German Postoffice lost it atm). Also, could be your knife lube is reacting with the brass in the bronze-phosphor-bushings, looked a bit dark on one side.
Thank you! I think it’s more to do with water getting into the lube from my bad habit of rinsing knives off in the sink and not relubing them or properly drying them off.
@@kimbalxyz2 you should! You either get a Spyderco made in America on Taiwanese machines or you get one made in Taiwan on Taiwanese machines. The Taichung Spydercos are by far their nicest. Spyderco has always outsourced some of their knives and all of their overseas partners have been doing it for years. I hope you pick one up and enjoy it, the Kapara is one of Spydercos best.
That pm2 jimping is very easy to fix. I soften almost all the jimping on my knives and makes such a difference. To me it's unnecessary to have jimping on edc folding knives.
