Gotta love new cars, r+i car to assist measuring. I’ve even had insurance companies try and deny removing those wiper assemblies that cover up the strut towers. Their excuse is we can 3D measure the frame and they don’t understand that the upper body requires traming as well.
I am doing a frame swap on an 06 wrangler. it seems to me after measuring over and over that my new (used) frame is tweaked. it appears the driver frame rail is 1.5 cm higher than the passenger rail on the very front. I have the bare frame on jack stands as i plan to put a good coating on it before it’s under the vehicle. is it possible for a shop to put my bare frame on a rack and check it or will i need to complete the swap and take them the entire vehicle? I notice you mention wrangler frames are tough to straighten, what is opinion in my situation?
Jeep frames are harder to straighten due to the tensile strength of the metal but they are repairable. From your description it shouldn’t be a problem. As far as body on or off, you should talk to the shop beforehand. Modern frame measuring equipment would need the vehicle put together . Some need the suspension loaded to get an accurate measurement and some have the suspension hanging. Also moving the frame alone may be an issue although they are fairly light. I hope this helps. Most are mild steel. Some manufacturers use a harder steel for example Jeep Wrangler series are very tough as is Nissan Titans and Toyota FJs. The big 3 auto manufacturers have mild steel from what I can tell. They are fairly easy to straighten. You’ve got a great channel Jerry. I watch all your videos. Thanks for your question. Take care

@@autobodytrainingsolutions838 I'm in Saint Helen. What state are you in? I wanted to tell you a story when watching your frame pulling vid on dangerous frame machine anchoring. My boss was pulling a car with a Kansas Jack power post and that thing let go flipped over backwards through another cars side window - pretty much destroyed the door. I actually felt bad for him. He was a good guy.
You’re way up there in MI. I’m in northwest Indiana about 10 south of Lake Michigan by Michigan City. I’ve seen my share of frame pulling mishaps in my time. It was entertaining watching guys pulling and having a clamp come loose a go through a windshield of another car. I would always take cover when someone was pulling.
