I'm glad that Korean shows are finally getting people's attention in the US. I've been a fan of Korean movies for decades now. Since I first watch "The Classic" and "A Moment to remember" staring Son Ye-jin, the goddess of all goddess. These are the two best movies ever!

I enjoyed rewatching this with you here! Everyone always seems surprised that they know Gi-hun is about to board a plane. I assume people forget that the game people were scanning something in the ears of the players when they returned to the game after leaving the first time. It worked with all the players, but the scanner couldn't find anything in either of the cop's ears. So, the people who run the games must have tagged them somehow and would definitely be tracking them. It makes sense in a horrifying, creepy sort of way.

One of the most brilliant things about this show is how the second episode, Hell, foreshadowed what was going to happen to them based on what happened in the real world: Sang-Woo was going to commit suicide and ended up doing so. Deok-su faced with no choice, jumped off a bridge after being betrayed, only to fall to his death from a bridge after betraying someone. Ali Abdul was helpless and relied on Sang-Woo, only to rely on Sang-woo to his own death. Jun-ho said that anyone who harmed his brother would die. He fell to his (likely) doom after shooting his own brother. Sae-byeok threatened to do anything to get her brother safe and helped Gi-hun. She helped Gi-hun not be a cold blooded killer and it cost her life after securing her brother. Oh Il-nam just wanted to not just die and instead play a game. He died playing a game.

That's the benefit of the show being written and directed by one man I think. It's very rare these days to get such a focused approach with most shows having dozens of writers and switching directors across episodes.

One of the first hints that Il-nam was the host was in episode 1, but it's very hard to catch, and really no one does on the first viewing. (And I don't mean his player number.) But the most obvious hint at it that you've missed was that when the cop first got into the archive room, he goes straight for this year's binder with player info (because his brother only disappeared days before, so he assumes must be a participant in the current games), opens it up, and the first page shows player 2. There is no file in the folder for player 1, meaning he was never tracked or researched. Also: love that like blinking eyeroll thing you do every time the American VIP talks about 69 or 96. :D

there's so many hints and easter eggs in this series, from the way they die was all foreshadowed on ep 2. the food becoming worse has meaning.

Another great Korean show I would recommend is All of Us Are Dead as well as Extracurricular and My Name. Keep up the great reactions. 😊

If you want a calm touching drama, I recommend My Mister and Stranger. this drama have a lot of fans in Korea. I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate your reaction. If you want to watch a movie instead of a long drama, I recommend Hello August,Train to Busan, Along with the gods and The Roundup

My favorite characters in Squid Game are Seong Ga-yeong, Kang Sae-byeok aka Player 067, and Ji-yeong aka Player 240 beause I think they look beautiful and are not evil. My least favorite characters in Squid Game are Loan Shark and Jang Deok-su aka Player 101 because they are evil. My least favorite parts in Squid Game are the part where Ji-yeong sacrifices herself by losing the marbles game to Kang Sae-byeok and the part where Cho Sang-woo kills Kang Sae-byeok with a steak knife because I don't like to see a girl who I think looks beautiful die.

The sanctimoniousness from Gi-hun about Sang-woo pushing the guy was annoying. They made it off the bridge w/ about 1 second to spare. If Sang-woo had waited for the guy to finally jump there’s a good chance Gi-hun (maybe all of them) would be dead.

This sort of "entertainment" (ie., the rich exploiting the poor for "fun") is not new. Dance Marathons were popular during the Great Depression for just that reason. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_marathon
