With sighting in this CZ 452 American I learn my limitations with a 9 power scope, along with aging eye sight, and instead of implementing my standard 50 yard sight in method I choose to sight in at a max of 35 yards. Join me and hopefully take something away to help you in sighting in your squirrel rifle for this seasons harvest.

Thank you for this vid. I have a 452, it's a lot of fun and really accurate. Just solid and well made. Thanks for taking the time to film and post this. Kind regards!

LOL Hey man you're giving away the old school way of bore sighting your scope. Damn it man LOL. My grandfather taught me that trick when I was little and it always works.

thanks and that is one rifle that i will never sell. your vids have me on the hunt for a 16" 452 american. yeah i was really surprised to shoot that string where one 5 shot 50 yd group was .25". thats the smallest i have ever shot with the CZ. i once had a smaller group going with eley subsonic hp but blew it with the 5th shot called flyer.

Good marksmanship. I have a Browning T-Bolt with the same scope. I came to the same conclusion and purchased a 4-12 X 40 Leupold ( not yet mounted). Hopefully, that will give me enough clarity and definition to consistently make lethal head shots at 75 yds. I bore sight and them move out to 75 yards. With 36 grain HP hyper velocity ammo I'm dead on at 75 yds and a little high at 25 and 50. And yes, the better grade ammo makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks for the info I have a cz 452 varmint and a 452 American that shoot SK pistol match very well better than Sk rifle match or standard plus in my rifles I know all rifles are different also having great success with geco in semi auto have not tried there ammo for bolt but it's allot cheaper if you shop around and have not tried it you might want to give it a whirl. Thanks again bud for the video.

You are certainly welcome. It was a learning curve. Two years ago I could have sighted in at 50y with 9 power, but it's better to know those limitations. CZ's are very well made rifles for the price. Stay tuned for the next sight in video. I appreciate your viewing this video, hopefully you took something helpful away from it.
@natebonebusta

I just doped my 16" threaded model in for that round. It was grouping well with Eley, until I attached my suppressor and then it preferred the SK subs more. A .3 group @ 50y is outstanding. A scope of 4-12 power to me is a good range.

Great shooting. You should get ahold of CZ and show them you videos. They could sell a lot of rifles if they showed your sight in videos on there website. Heck you sold me on them. I plan on buying a CZ next thanks to you and your videos. Now the question is which one to get. Our season starts the 15th, Sadly I will be working all this week through the weekend and into next week. Boo.

With that set up, at 25 yards, 10 rounds in a quarter all time ... never miss... My first ruger 10/22 , basic gun basic scope, basic bipod, i already shoot a coke red cap at 50 yards... never miss... yours set up very steady... you should do a better grouping brother
@natebonebusta

If I can't put 10 shots in a dime at 25 yards then it's a problem. If you're talking quarters the minimum distance should be 50 yards, but at 50 yards I better be in a nickel if I want to take the rifle out in the woods.

Have you tried RWS Field Line 40g JHP? They're also lubricated and I cannot believe how well they group at 50 yards for a high velocity load. They shoot almost as good as SK or Center X in my rifle. I tried them for the first time yesterday and couldn't believe it. 25 shot group under 1 MOA at 50 meters. Very excited for squirrel season in Michigan next month!

hey nate try the sk subsonic hp 40 gr. thats what my 452 american likes the best and is the most accurate with. i shot 4 (5 shot) groups that avg .3" @ 50 yds. thats about as much as i can ask of a sporter weight off the shelf rifle. that was with a leupold vx-2 4-12x40mm AO scope though.

What'd you end up using to block the left lens of your glasses to block out your dominant eye?
@natebonebusta
@natebonebusta 10 лет назад
I'm assuming you meant to say non-dominant eye. I just sprayed the lens with some inexpensive black spray paint. Covering the non-dominant eye helps fatigue and blurry vision during a long sight in session.

After shooting the T-Bolt in a hunting environment I have concluded that the trigger is the weak link. It's a beautiful rifle, however, the trigger is pretty much non-adjustable. About 4 lbs. of pull is the least resistance I could achieve. Your CZ 455 seems to have a much better trigger adjustment range.
@natebonebusta
@natebonebusta 6 лет назад
Bingo!! The T-Bolt trigger adjustment is the weak link for the T-Bolt. I can get mine no lighter than 3lbs without the bolt coming out of the rear of the action. Love the action, and the magazine but it comes in second to my CZ’s.

Nice sighting lesson. Have you ever sited subsonic cci 40 grain 710 fps called the quiet-22. I want to start shooting these as they are touted to be quieter, and without the sonic crack I tend to believe that but haven't had time to try them through my CC military trainer.

Great video! I have a question though about the scope. It's a 3-9 power scope. It sounds like you have it set to 9 power. I have read a couple articles that say you don't need more than 4 power. Do you disagree with that? Just would like to know your reasons for setting it to 9 power. Thank you!
@natebonebusta
@natebonebusta 9 лет назад
+Umicon42 I feel like the more magnification I have the more accurate I am. Most of my rifles are outfitted with scopes in the 4.5-14 or 6-20 power range. A fixed 4 power will give you excellent light transmission and will do the job. Plenty squirrels have met there demise through a 4 power fixed scope. It tends to be a preference thing. I don't own any fixed power scopes.

Nate, When sighting in this particular scope, which is what I have, what power at what yardage did you have it set at? Did you leave it at 9x for the whole process or at 15yd was it on 3x, etc....

@natebonebusta 7 лет назад
+pullemfar I'm fairly certain I ran 9 power the whole sight in.
@pullemfar
@pullemfar 7 лет назад
I've been plinking with mine and testing out different types of ammo. So far with my XT22., Eley Sub HP 40gr are shining. However CCI Suppressor small game does well but will on occasion throw a zinger off course. Now that's at 50yrds, 25 yds is tight as a tick, but at 50 it can get a bit open, however I can manage to keep them in a 2" grp. I'm liking the 35yd idea you used in this vid. Like you said and I've experienced, 40 yrads is about max in the woods. Does or have you had your eyes get blurry from using this scope? Not sure if i'm doing something wrong or if its just normal.
@natebonebusta
@natebonebusta 7 лет назад
Extended periods of sight in give my eyes fatigue. It takes a little time, say 30 minutes for the blurriness to go away. Sounds as you are squared away on your rifle and ammo choices!

Bud you need to shoot Federal Champion 510s out of that CZ. I shoot them out of my Remington 541s. Cover holes all day at 50. I also shoot them out of a Remington 582 with nearly the same results. I am a die hard squirrel hunter and I know when I see or meet another die hard. You my friend could have year long conversations with me about squirrel hunting. Good luck and knock them eyes out.

Question: I have a brick of the SK ammo and it shoots well in my 10/22. My Harrington & Richardson bolt action will not eject them. I have to dig the empty shells out of the chamber with a knife. It's almost like the brass expands in the chamber. The SK is the only rounds that do that. Any suggestions? Thanks.
@natebonebusta
@natebonebusta 2 года назад
It’s likely the lube on the case making it stick. Try wiping a few off first and see if that fixes it.
@buddycarroll9641

@@natebonebusta I'll give that a try although, the H & R will shoot the Norma Tac-22 ammo and they're lubricated also. Thanks.
@natebonebusta
@natebonebusta 2 года назад
Beyond the lube causing the issue I'm at a loss. I'm surprised the Norma doesn't have the same extraction issues. Have you tried cleaning the leade of the chamber? Could be a carbon/lead ring has built up. I use a stiff brush to just clean the chamber and then patch the crud out the front of the bore.
