SS14 - Tesla Engine 

It was my immense joy to witness one of the first tesslooses on Wizden servers. I was playing salvage and one of the asteroids we magnetized had despawned without warning, instantly round removing the entire salv team. We haunted the station a bit until dead chat started reading "tessloose" i went to engineering and saw this glorious ball of lightning bouncing around a steadily decaying chamber as they didnt really build it right. as soon as that containment field failed... the destruction was glorious.

A wonderful addition to engineering's tools set and one step closer to Super Matter shenanigans. I can't wait for someone to build a tesla shittle.

"It's harder to sabotage don't know if this is intentional" Oh no it is, it's been like that for 20 years in SS13, some maps would roll diferent engines instead of having fixed ones and people would sometimes order tesla stuff when singulo came up because it's relatively safer! Also something that I don't know if it's possible to do in SS14 but was very much possible in 13, since the tesla doesn't damage structures themselves, you could contain it's in a 1x1 field, there's something for me to try next time I boot up the game!

Tesloose On bigger note, it lets engineering exploit an electrical anomaly better if in a good location. Also purchasable Batterys thta when filled are worth a whole lot more than what they purchase for, but they eat a lot of power.

Funfact: in Ss13 if the tesla hits the ai or just an strong emp in general it auto shuttle calls. I think it will do the same one ai sat and ai is in Ss14

you can actually get away with a 3x3 containment field (3x3 inside) and even if you max out the PA it will not loose if you have the right setup

And now we can make lady tesla and lord singulo dance by putting them next to each other I can't wait

before you posted a tutorial, a few people tried to do this, but then got it loose lmao

If you build one off station, you might want to warn Salvage not to fly their shuttles near it.

I already saw this thing get loose yesterday. The entire fucking station was spaced, the escape pods were nothing but floor tiles, most of the crew was dead and the angry ball just kept going. Luckily for the crew the one place it never went was evac after it destroyed the firelocks to the area. It was on Marathon and even the chapel, AI area and solars were obliterated. He is not exaggerating when he says it's more dangerous than a singuloose. Unless you have insulated gloves, then it cannot hurt you.

i had that thing go loose on the first round after the uptate while a rev round. No one wanted to fight each other because we where all too much frighten, i barely managed to evac as HoP. This thing is so scary with the explosion sounds in the distance

I honestly have not laughed this much in months, since I can watch it dismantle the whole station.

Tesloose was a hilarious encounter last night.

Had some people in a round complain about not getting to play with this, I'll have to try it out

So uh they didn't code in hail merry way of dealing with it? Which is by getting tongs and sm shard, flying towards that ball and having small shard absorb it. You would then have very small chance of recontaining now powered up shard and could rebuild the station.

I dunno if this was said: Everytime a Tesla coil is struck it gains damage, you must repair tesla coils with a welder.

Absolutly love the update sadly i can already see this thing getting the "singulo nerf" treatment and being given a required fuel source as well in the future :/

Personally I like the ss13 teleporting tesla, it was like a living lightning strike, teleporting around at random and causing a mini explosion/emp. Felt like being in an hellish lethal version of a space thunderstorm.

I wonder if the PA needs to be on the same grid as the tesla ball generator to get it started. I'm imagining a stripped-down minimal tesla containment setup on a shuttle being used as a superweapon in some kind of station-vs-station gamemode. Compared to a singularity it would be a bit harder to contain/deliver, but far more likely to stick around and eat the target station/ship rather than slingshotting itself into deep space.

The MOST IMPORTANT THING about if you accidentally let the tesla loose - You can blame it on epi for messing around with dangerous artifacts.

So that's what people are afraid of in SS13 by yaling "Tesla escaped!!!"

I cant wait to see how the people contributing to the ss14 github mangles the supermatter (no offense but it will be different, so in the eyes of an ss13 player it will be bad) if that ever gets added, or what they will do instead of it
