Gamelight7 Reviews 2003's SSX 3 in 2020 and lets you know how well this game has aged over 17 Years! Twitch: / gamelight7 Royalty Free Music: "8 Bit Win!" By HeatleyBros • "8 Bit Win!" Victoriou...
Please: can the SSX fans unite and start asking again for an SSX Tricky/3 combo-remake? Tony Hawk just got a fantastic remake in the form of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 for Ps4, Xbox One and PC and I just really want this to happen to SSX as well!
@@Matanumi yeah man I have and I haven’t had that much fun on a game for years, it’s nice to revisit old stuff being as I barely play any games anymore.
What I like about this game is how well it captures that early 2000's vibe. I didn't grow up with it, but playing it gives me that strong nostalgia for the early 2000's, my childhood years.
I know im late to this comment but if you wanna see how hard these game companies went in the 2000's look up JSRF ost and play the game. It's from 2001 so you know at that time Sega was known pretty much for Sonic and all that.
Does anyone else feel like older video games like this one seemed to have a more playful and casual attitude? It seems to me as if modern games have a tendency to take themselves way too seriously, whereas older games like "SSX3", "Contra: Hard Corps" and "F-Zero X" had more of an "alright, let's kick ass!" vibe, and they also had awesome soundtracks, which contributed a lot to that atmosphere.
Yeah I agree, that’s why I find myself going back to play older games more often nowadays. Lately I’ve been playing a jetski game called Riptide Renegade on Switch, it doesn’t take itself too seriously and that’s what I like about it.
To address your comment about the 3 races, and the first two being pointless... It's supposed to be like each race is a qualifying round to the next one. So landing in the top 3 earns you a spot in the next race, and the final one. So really that last race is just the characters who all qualified the previous 2. Narrowing down the best, so to speak. Which is why you can end up with silver even if you got gold the previous races.
That makes a lot more sense, I just wish it was a bit more clear in the game cause it really doesn't do too much to explain anything lol. But thanks for that tidbit!
@@Gamelight7 It literally is mentioned in the game and the manual, I even think DJ Atomika explains it in the beginning of the game. I knew from the beginning that is a qualifying system, in the end you would noticed one you finished the first or second heat below 3rd place, also at the end of the heat at the stats screen doesn't it say that you qualified to the next heat?
This is my favorite SSX game. I like how boards change stats in previous games, would prefer that to buying stats in this one, but whatever. Having one big, seamless mountain to explore is the takeaway for this game, plus board presses so you can chain tricks together for massive combo points.
This game is my childhood. Good god its super addictive. I'm a massive fan of this game. I own every version, the strategy guide and have a huge playlist dedicated to this game on my channel. It's incredible to see how much of this game had changed in the span of a year! Come on guys, we NEED the series to be remastered! That soundtrack is GODLY.
I have to completely disagree with you on the heat system. That's how it works in the real world and they're emulating that in-game. It's mentioned in the intro card before each race so it's obvious in-game lol. (prefacing that this game is everything to me so I'm biased) It seems to me like maybe you're just not a huge fan of arcade-style games? Yes, there is a lack of story, but the inclusion of one would take away from the arcade way the game is formatted. The game is designed to make you want to do the races and slopestyle events over and over even after you get gold/platinum to keep improving your times/scores. If there was a set story and you complete it, would you be as driven to go back and do individual tracks/races again? I think tricky was moreso a true arcade-style game, but 3 is still very much in that genre, unlike in ssx (2012) where they clearly move away from this to a story-driven game.
This was my childhood! Something I really liked is how they would create a bit of an atmosphere like you're in the mountain whilst keeping that arcade style. Tricky was awesome and seems to be more popular but this was my favourite
"It's definitely not on PC." Mhm, yep, absolutely no way of playing it on PC at all, no sir, no way I'd ever be able to play SSX 3 on PC, nope, definitely not on PC at all.
This game came out the year I was born, and it was one of the first games I had on my own personal ps2 that I got for Christmas in 2012. It holds a special place in my heart. Also, whenever I hear jerk it out by the ceasers, I just can't help to to feel nostalgic. Also, for anyone who's curious. Psymon was my main
Played ssx3 on my original xbox for a long time, played a little bit with xbox 360. Now i play it with my pc at 4k resolution with 4k textures. Still my favourite game ever, i would kill for a direct sequel.
I'm playing it on my 360 but it doesn't run in widescreen so I'm getting the black edges left and right. Am I missing something or is widescreen not supported on the 360, is there a setting or anything ?
I think SSX is better just based on fun factor. Way more out-there ridiculousness in SSX, but thats what makes it special. It hits a perfect balance of being ridiculous and grounded at the same time. Highly recommend SSX
I'm glad that I still have my copy of SSX 3 for the original XBox then! Now to get my XBox One to actually play games and not shut off because of heat.
If you wanna higher quality and sharper higher resolution graphics with the PS2 you need component cable and you can turn on progressive mode for 1024x764 resolution.
one thing that used to drive me nuts about this game that I discovered, as a real snowboarder, happens all the time: eating shit over literally nothing. lol it never fails, 11/10 realism
Your complaint about the heat system is stupid. In competitive sports, they don't give you credit for coming in first during the heats. The heats are meant to weed out the contenders with less skill. Therefore it is completely logical that the final race would be harder, as the weaker contenders have been weeded out. Please tell me of a real professional sport where if the players did good in all the previous rounds yet lost the last round they would win the championship.
Steep came out and it’s pretty cool but nothing comes close to SSX2012. I hear people prefer SSX3 over 2012 but honestly I’m sure those were 5 year olds playing the game.
If I want a story and characters and their motivations, I will play Last of Us games or Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbiden West or Fallout New Vegas or Mass Effect Trilogy or some Final Fantasy or Bioshock or whatever. But this? I play it for a sense of rush. Adrenalin pumping. Top to bottom of the mountin is an orgazmic experience, especially while game was still fresh to it. When it stops being orgasmic, it's still very enjoyable. Track design and soundtrack are mostly phenomenal (music is not recycled for me since I haven't played those other games). Many songs I wouldn't listen outside of game, but they fit perfectly with the game. Such as Do Your Thing from Basement Jax. Many songs are great for while playing and not playing as well. Graphics...well it's mostly snow,so it holds up well enough even these days. Talking about PS2 version. Purchased big 4K TV so could use resolution bump. As for tricks...yeah you end up doing same things so when that became obvious,I decided to just continue enjoying the game with fully developed Elise , not carrying for other characters. Controls are mostly great. There is definitely a great sense of them being greatly improved over time,so very enjoyable experience. 9.3/10
Actually Mac’s Voice Actor Ryan Wall Also Returned To Voice Him In This Game. So Is Two Voice Actors Returning From The Previous Game & You Made A Hiccup There.😅 1:23
🔥 Bro, if you want a mission critical objective then video games aren't it lol.. just sit back light one up or have a shot of tequila and enjoy the sights and sounds while carving down the mountain poppin off some cool uber tricks 👍🔥
Wush they'd make a new ssx game that's ofc over the top like 3,on tour etc. But with character creation. With a list of names that the dj or whatever will say. Career mode and such. Like an rpg snowboard game. Start as a noob and become great.
u asking why u doing this, well now u an adult thats why u asking, but when we were kids its all just fun and nothing to it. I loved this game as a kid.
