War Thunder needs more good players making content that isn't just top tier. You're going to grow so much faster than everyone else with all the variation of vehicles you play.

The STA-1 taught me most of what i know about war thunder, this vehicle really teaches you positioning and how to take safe shots. Since your armor is just nonexistent, you have to take shots where you minimize your exposure to danger. I appreciate this thing so much. I dont think its an amazing vehicle, but since the Japanese Tech Tree was my first, this is where i learned so many things about this game. Love the videos, keep up the great work!

It’s not a good tank but it’s nice to have QoL features like decent reverse, neutral steering, and high zoom at a BR where most tanks still lack those things

The zoom on this got me killed so much at close range

and for good reason, you essentially get an M36B2 but at a much higher br and difficult to use optics

Now that you've played the ST-A1 you've GOTTA play the Type 60 SPRG, the little japanese rat

As someone who first started the game with Japan ground. This tank really made me rethink my decision of downloading WT 💀

When I first played this it was when they introduced it. I still played both the St-A1 & 2, but they started with APCR only and that was before the solid shot & APCR ammo buffs. So similar to many US tanks with APCR as the starting round.

Great content man. Personally I don’t care for ground above 6.7 but I love how you explain your movement and good sight lines to hold.

Hey BPA_John What’s your opinion on the American 5.7 lineup? Your video on the jumbo encouraged me to grind and get it (loved the M24 and 3.7 lineup) - but I’m suffering from the constant 6.7 matches against Germany

I play the Japan line it was a little tougher to grind than other lines but some of the Japan line tanks are awesome and the St-A1 I enjoyed playing it. The ST-A3 and the Type 61 were alright to and it was even better when I got to the STB. Gotta have patients to play the Japanese line but it pays off in the end.

Had a really bad time in this until i watched some guy show that you should take aphe as primary instead of heat, now im enjoying both ST-As quire a bit despite their shortcomings

If I had to pick one, ST-A3 is much better. Rank 4 Japan tanks lack of speed. At least, ST-A3 got a reasonable auto loader. Yet, once the clip runs off ammunition. It is worse than the ST-A1, due to the reload auto loader first.

honestly i prefer the 6.7 sta-3 and type 61 solely because of seemingly better mobility, slightly better gun handling and better heat shell

Just not a lot of options in the Japan tech tree. I found this tank refreshing when I got to it. And having multiple tanks at at the same BR even. Type 75 is where its at though :D

I hated this one when i first got it, but now it's one of my favourites because of the heat shell, gun depression and zoom. Is diabolical on certain maps. Still hate the basic green camo tho.

You should play the German M48 with the 105

Mixed feelings about the ST-A1 and A2. A1 better with its 50 Cal but at 6.3 BR you always get sucked into 6.7-7.0 battles and then you simply suffer a lot. Not to mention the lack of performance on the HEATFS rounds which can get eaten by tracks and other volumetric stuff. But its a good back up to the Type 75, Type 99 which are much better heat slingers

The type 61 is actually pretty nice and fast compared to this one. You should give that one a go 👌

If u play this tank as a uboat: u r fine, the insane optics are key for players with knowledge.

It's not surprising no one plays it, it's got the armor of a light tank with the mobility of a heavy tank. It's just objectively inferior to the M36.

For some reason the Japan HEAT-FS absolutely claps. It's like they nerfed everyone else's HEAT-FS and left Japan buffed or something.

I still hate this and the sta2 but somehow I got my first nuke in these

ST A1 might mot be bad, same as the A2 but the stupid zoom is too high for the velocity of the shells, it disorientates me

i unlock it with the A2 and wait to get 50% sl to get them.. ahahah.. then i will try to spade them!! both A1 and A2.. your team is the enemy with the blue......
