Steph's truly one of the only stride players today. I love how she has her own style, but still pays her respects to the greats (like at 1:30 - she takes a little from Earl Hines's boogie woogie on st louis blues). So good. So clean
I've played this for years on and off and love this version, esp the stride towards the end - I've recently gone back to Glenn Miller's St Louis Blues March - some very good harmonies and ideas that you can fit into your own performance.
Bill Swingle; At the time you commented, I was 75 years old and had subscribed to Stephanies' UTube videos for 3 or 4 years. Lovely lady, married to Paulo Aldericky (sp). They recorded a CD together before they had seen each other. She grew up in St. Louis … he grew up in Italy. Great couple, two distinct types of music blended well to make a new flavor of EAR CANDY! 💝
Thats her problem, She is one of those people who asks you "Hi can i have a go on the piano?" Then you say sure thinking nothing of it only to get your ass handed to you, smoked and cured.
@Chris246t8kr Glad you enjoyed........It isn't one of my favorites, THE TUNE, not Stephanie's Performance as she is a GREAT PERFORMER........Thanks for commenting.... VBR
My wife, who knows about these things, tells me that playing the piano burns off 100 calories per hour.. except in Stephanie's case, which must consume rather more, I think. So, not just a high level of musicianship need for playing in this style... ... but a good deal of stamina, too!
Do not know? I know she got married several years ago. I don't attend the festivals anymore either for past several years, so out of touch with what is happening.....VBR
