Kim Gardner is resigning as St. Louis Circuit Attorney. Gardner posted a resign letter to Twitter Thursday afternoon saying she will step down effective June 1. The announcement comes amid an ongoing effort to remove her from office by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey. Bailey renewed his call for Gardner to resign at a Wednesday afternoon press conference, saying Gardner broke the law by taking nursing classes while serving as circuit attorney.

I agree - grab back the money she was paid since the time when she started to go to school to become a nurse. Also, when does her trial start for the damage done to the legal system that she oversaw? The consequences of the cases that were dismissed (criminals that should have been jailed are now loose), the unbearable case load left behind and the number of hours that will have to be invested to bring the case load under control? When does the investigation start to determine if she was actually qualified to be in charge of the position she was in? When you litigate a problem like this, the start at the bottom and work your way to the top... Maybe the final bill should go to... Hmm, let me think... Oh yeah - George Soros! In Missouri, dereliction of duty is a felony crime punishable by 2 and up to 5 years in prison and $100 to $1000 fine. For a public official, resigning from office is a get out of jail free card in all but the most egregious cases. Unless politics demands punishment to make other public officials look good.

The AG has issued subpoenas for records and video footage that may reveal when she spent time with her nursing interests that may violate the required in office hours of duty to the circuit attorney's job. The AG announced that yesterday and I'm guessing she knows that the evidence will not favor her and maybe she's trying to cut a deal by resigning. This decision comes just hours after the AG announced those subpoenas. And remember she just recently was very defiant and said she wasn't going anywhere.

I don't want to live in a world where it's considered a crime to attend college while working full time. The issue here is if she was negligently derelict in her duties as district attorney. Prosecutors should not be elected . Being a defence lawyer or a prosecutor is a career not a political decision and citizens need to be sure that any prosecution or non-prosecution is not politically motivated. The biases currently seen across the USA undermine the US Justice system.

She wants continuity in the circuit attorneys office? Does that mean continuity is not performing their jobs of prosecuting cases, not holding criminals accountable for their actions, not informing victims of court dates, not having prosecutors appear in courts to prosecute those cases? If that is the kind of continuity she is referring to, that has to end now. She can go attend Nursing college full time now at her own expense. I know if the performs as a nurse as badly as she has an a prosecutor, I would not want her attending to me in a hospital.

The number of attys in the DA office were very slim, like 6. Over 100 cases each. No one could keep up. That's why there was such a huge backlog. Felons were getting bail. Misdemeanors were being dismissed. All in a feeble effort to keep up. Then her own atty was killed in a "fiery car crash" as the media puts it. Just before that is when it came out that she was going to college FULLTIME to get an advanced degree in nursing on CITY TIME and that was the REAL reason for the backlog. She was never there.
