Hello SKB IslandMan!. Started watching and then subscribed to your channel some several months ago.Now I return almost everyday. Love the video films you make. About the ATC sound in St.Kitts, does it sound a bit raspy to you ?. Also, could there be a way(some type of material) to filter/muff the wind noise?. Especially love going along for the ride in the Norman Islander and the Twin Otter. Also, would like to know source of beautiful music you put at end of videos, thanks. Lot's of Island Hopping memories. Thank you so much and keep 'em coming. cheers!. Julian G. VRB.
+Diane Glover that's so nice to know i got loyal fans out there :) !!!!, this was a recent trip to SXM.....many people do normal videos from Maha but i have a vision to do proper spotting there and that i did :) !!!!. I actually use a sound recorder a Tascam and it has a fluffy dead cat on it...it cuts down the wind noise by a great deal but not 100% tho.. all my music are from the youtube music library, the ending song is called late night snack :) !!! by the way where are you from ?
+SKBenergy Love that music, who by ?. I was born in UK. My Dad was in the R.A.F. During and after the second World War, so we moved alot to many countries. Lived in Tortola,B.V.I.(parents started Long Bay Beach Resort, for a while we had no electricity and 55 Gal.drum on the roof!.)St.Thomas,Puerto Rico for High School.I remember Island hopping from Barbados to Beef Island and back in a D.C.3 or a chartered Aztec. Then Boeing 707 to New York and London when I was still in Boarding School. Now my dear wife and I live in Vero Bch. These movies really have me missing the Island Life!!.The Airports were much more primitive then. thank you so much for these excellent productions. Julian G. VRB.
+Diane Glover wow a lot of that is before my time my friend as i am in my late 20's :)...but you have had an awesome time it seems traveling back in the day !!! the music is from You-tube. they have there own royal free music than anyone can use.... the ending song is called late night snack :)
+SKBenergy Late night snack, OK,got it,thanks. Have you ever heard of a seaplane line called Antilles Airboats?. Had family in that, as well as early times Pan Am operations in St.Thomas.B727 was the "AirBoss" in those days. I can still remember riding up in the right seat of the cockpit in a taildragger twin Beach.w/radial engines taking off from Anguilla when the runway was still all gravel!!. "meson, dem buoys mus be crazy maan!.Lol. That Super 727 of Peter Nygard is a fine example of a classic Aircraft. Ok den, Me gone Lymin, catchu up later. Julian G. VRB.
Super video!!! I would just like to ask some questions. Where was this recorded? Was this from that car rental place? Also what did you use for gear? I will be landing at TNCM on November 5th to grab some footage myself. :)
+Grogz40 i was just above the car rental place, i used my old faithful canon T3I and a Tascam sound recorder...i am from the nearby island of St Kitts, my channel by statistics is the largest spotting channel from any Caribbean spotter...feel free to check out my videos :)....check this out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vEb0lRlbQHg.html
+SKBenergy Thanks for the info. I have seen some of you other videos as well. Good work with the Canon. Since you are fairly close to St. Maarten, you might be interested in the photo contest the airport is having on November 6th-13th. Just go to the SXM airport website to register. This will be my first trip to the island and looking forward to it. I just do not know where all the places I can go to shoot some footage. Yes, I'll be spending a few hours at Maho. I'll be bringing my Nikon D7000 and a Canon HRF-500 for video. Using a tablet and SDR radio to record ATC. So nothing to fancy here. Still, anxious to get there and have some fun. :)
Grogz40 I know about the photo contest from its inception a few years ago, i personal know the founder who i talk with good all the time, local legendary photographer Robert J Cijntje, he also run the Facebook form SXM photography, his aviation photos on Airliners and Jetphotos.net are of legendary status :) and he always use top of the line, equipment ...on my recent trip he came and look for me, we had a good lime as we say in local dialact at Sunset bar :), other notable locals came and look for me to...i got a lot of love from the local community i must say, i also have family in St. Maarten so it made getting around easier even at nights :). i also have a scanner for ATC. Cost of travel is ludicrously high my friend in the Caribbean. that little 30 minute trip cost me 370 US on Winair who is still cheaper than LIAT,, many told me they wont pay that price for such a short flight. i was there on vacation i had that trip planned was the only time i could get out so you enjoy your self my friend :)
Thanks for the information. Sounds like you have the place wired. :) Yes, I discovered that flying to various islands costs a pretty penny. I have a good friend in St. Thomas who is a pilot. Bad news was he failed is medical on his last evaluation due to his diabetes. If he can get it under control and get his clearance, then we will be renting a little plane for some island hopping. If not, I will still have plenty to do. Keep up the great work with the videos and look forward to seeing some more. Watch for mine in a couple of months.
+kilarambo246 ' it has to do with the range....the pilots are out of range for me to hear them....when i was in St. Maarten however i took note that a local spotter had the exact same scanner i had but it did not have its default antenna he had gotten a bigger antenna and could hear aircraft's miles out...so that's the problem :)
