I have never had the chance to try fountain pens with double-stacked nibs like this before, and I loved them. I think Ben told me they are Jowo nibs, and then they are in pens by Ben Walsh, and and tuned by Jose Munuera, I'll put all the links below if you want to find out more. Using these pens and nibs felt like a dream, they just worked so well and felt so good. I think it was a combination of everything; the pens, the nibs being stacked, the tuning, etc. I used Platinum Carbon black ink.
The pens were sent to me by: Ben Walsh Design
/ benwalshdesign
www.gravitaspens.com/
Nib tuning by: Jose Munuera
/ nib.lab
Interestingly, his instagram bio says he's not taking orders on stacked nibs, so I'm not sure what to make of that.

The script is called Ogham and it’s an early medieval language/alphabet mostly used across Ireland and Scotland - but have been found in other nearby areas too. It’s written vertically and read from bottom to top. The exact use is a mystery, but scholars believe it was used to record geographical information, identify important trees and monuments, and do magic (Picts/Celts). It’s fascinating, I recently read about it in a book called Tree Magic by Danu Forest.

One of the Ogham is "Gravitas Pens," the other says, "May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may troubles avoid you wherever you go." Per what Ben Walsh has said. 😉

They are found as far down as the north of Austria. A celtic village was discovered and dug out a little bit ago where I live and there are various stons with Ogham marks all over it, even if they seem to not quite follow the same rules (mostly, but there is clearly something a bit different. Which is also cool tbh)

GSM stands for grams per square meter. This measure is called the "grammage" in paper engineering. There are a lot of parameters that go into getting the correct grammage of a roll of paper at the factory.

Good to see you went for a paper change and then picked a paper I use myself for fountain pen art as well. The Strathmore 400 vellum is an exceptional smooth and accepting paper that, if you are drawing with pen all the time, will love. When you are going to use pencil, well, eh, good luck as that will be different.

They should make sketchbooks with a white square in a frame on the cover so they are setup for customization
@sixmercer2504
@sixmercer2504 2 года назад
Or make a customization cover underneath and have the company's logo page be able to be either folded around the back (if it's spiral, which I hate) or to be torn off. I don't understand why they don't offer that either. It does seem stupid. I mean even if you get the solid black hardcover, you have to paint it or put stickers on it. I'd rather have a cover that I can draw on. But....I have a long way to go before I get comfortable with all the mediums anyway and painting isn't one of them!

it's usually the coating that determines if ink will bleed through or feather, not the thickness, but even a thin paper that doesn't bleed or feather will still be easier to see through from the other side.

Mr. Draws, I have never been much of an artist. My sister took the artsy stuff and I became a singer. But your art has made me incredibly excited to draw. I bought the crescent paper and have been drawing daily. A little bonus to this is my new addiction to fountain pens (also courtesy to you). I now have a TWSBI Precision, 2 Kaweco Sport, a Muji, and a Lamy AL Star. I am now in the process of getting my friends into the pen game all thanks to you. I absolutely adore your work. I really think the sketchbook trend for pictures depicting art that should be created with this kind of paper! It is like people who are purchasing the sketchbooks don’t bother to READ the cover for the content of the paper and other information pertinent to the use of the book! I still enjoy watching your videos and seeing your growth is inspiring! Thank you for sharing your time with us as well as your amazing art journey you have been on these many years! To me, that feeling of the weight of the pen being all that is needed to put a line on the paper, and all your hand is doing is guiding the line, not pressing to make the ink flow, is the epitome of what a great pen SHOULD write like! That's one reason I tend to like metal fountain pens that have some weight to them. I'm not holding the pen down onto the paper, I'm holding it up so I can guide it. It's great! I understand EXACTLY what you are talking about!

It's Ogham script! Used by the Picts and Celts - most surviving examples are names of people and possibly landownership markers, and are in Old Irish. They think it was probably used on wood as well as the stone examples, but I don't think any wooden objects have been found as yet.

Brilliant art! Nib tuning is addictive, you can use micro mesh (or a nail buffer) to make the nib super smooth or to create different grinds like an Architect that is very thick one way and very thin on the other. With your pen that only takes cartridges, you can get a syringe and a blunt needle from eBay and rinse them out and refill with any ink that you want. It also makes cleaning your pens a lot less hassle. :)

I prefer paper that does not bleed/feather as much. However that depends on the ink as much as the wide variety of paper even if they have the same weight/paper type. You should visit Japan where the variety of paper and pen nib is likely impressive. I recall a story of a chef visiting a knife shop and the show owner asking if he was left or right handed, what food material he would be cutting, what pressure the knife owner could apply and then what sort of cut of that ONE food type was preferred. Only then was a knife recommended and then there were a variety of knives offered depending on the task. If thats just a knife shop, then a pen and paper shop will be even better.

Love it! From beginning to end…love it! Awesome art, cool cover, great first page! Love the music, love your form in bocce ball. Literally laughed out loud when you ‘cut’ the grass. It reminded me of the story you told in another video where you got down to grass level and put your hand at grass height and said, “guys, it’s not grown that much”. I really loved the editing. Yes, I am at a loss for good adjectives but I sincerely enjoyed this whole experience and I am a looong time fan and follower. I love my Peter Pen and my books, I just think you are awesome and talented. Your lines and dots have helped to get me through 2 back fashions, stage 4 breast cancer, mastectomy, chemo and radiation. Hi! Blue ink is used in schools in our country because it does not look so contrasting against the background of white paper, which is safer for children's eyes and for the eyes of a teacher checking their notebooks. It s in official recomendations and standards. When nibs were used in schools instead of ballpoint pens, we used purple ink for the same purpose.
