Stairway inspection problems (weld it back to code!)

#welding #repair #welder I can’t believe the inspector missed this but called out something to change that wasn’t even code. Not the first time I’ve come behind a building inspector that didn’t know code. But we come in and do our best to weld and fabricate everything up to the customer and inspectors standards. These small structural mobile welding jobs are my specialty. But mid job I get a change order and have to bring in one of my sub contractors to give me a hand. That’s just par for course in the welding business!
Here’s some tools I used
3m welding respirator- amzn.to/3oBd4kJ
Black Stallion welding Gloves- amzn.to/42aeLmX
Neck protector- amzn.to/43hZZw0
Black stallion welding jacket- amzn.to/3IOSMuX
Here’s my Instagram-www.instagram....

That particular fire code is an interesting one, in the case of schools the idea behind it is having the landing large enough to get someone in a wheelchair evacuated onto the balcony into a breathable atmosphere and await fire rescue. While still leaving enough room for people to walk by. Atleast that's per KY firs code

Desiccant packs (or reusable desiccant things you bake in the oven) thrown in the bottom of your boxes can help you a little if you forget to take wire in. Isn't a cure all but could save you a ruined roll of 25 dollar wire for three dollars in desiccant.

Excellent video. I think I hate wind more than any other type of weather. I'll deal with heat or freezing temps. Rain is fine and I can live with snow. I have no use for wind and it drives me batshit crazy. When you mentioned you remember the stairs being there when you were a kid it reminded me of the time I got the job of ding some welding on the playground equipment I had played on thirty years ago. Most of the original stuff was gone (including the sharp gravel that was laid all over and around the base of the equipment) but the huge swing set that I swung on and lept off of the top of the arch and landed face first onto the sharp gravel was still there. Oh ya, did I mention that happened on picture day? Mom was thrilled when they sent home the proofs to see which pictures she wanted and saw my fat cut up lip and big gash on my forehead. I got to do some rust repair and hopefully future abatement. Have a great week

That's what the kids (mostly in their 20s) thought when I (35 at the time) took a welding course at the Community College... I'd show up from work in a polo shirt and throw a welding shirt on over that... but I ended up with the highest score in the class and did 1.5 semesters of coursework in one semester. Mostly because I applied myself and worked until the instructor was ready to lock up and leave, and the others would goof off after the first hour or so of class. Difference was, I paid almost a grand to be there and their tuition was being paid for by grants from the State... I never had any actual trouble from anyone except for an instructor from another section of the class, who questioned whether I was actually a student, until my instructor set him straight. It was pretty funny, as he came back to me and acted like we were old pals...
