As a Filipino, I distinctly remember hearing people in church singing like this. It was so hard to keep in my laugh, and I don't understand why and how my parents were so serious the whole time
As a filipino choir kid, I can say that this happens a lot at church. Especially when the church is understaffed and administrators have to fill in for the choir 😭
actually, no. that's how he looks like when everytime he's upset. he was the 'kura paroko' of our church here in manila and he is really strict whenever there is a mass. as far as i know, pinagsabihan niya yang choir na yan sa parish's office after that mass.
Some context: I'm not sure when this was recorded, but I used to go to school there (the one here is the school's church), and my sister who occasionally served told me that Monsi (the priest in the video) is ruthless when it comes to the performance of the service. So him looking at the choir is basically a death sentence and that they probably got lectured afterwards Lmao
this was exactly what it looked like if we let our principal and math teacher hold the microphone at every first friday mass back when I was still in a catholic school
@@insectslayer1374 That is because the grammatical structure used by English and Filipino is mostly common, so it would work perfectly with a system that translates in a word by word basis.
@@mashihodpotatoetm4572 well because we are not a part of the music team or anything, unless we are tho, and since there were thousands of us each day attending church, aint no way we get to be informed how the melody is that sunday🤣 but its just the 'amen' tho. all the other songs and liturgy is the same every week.
Actually, they probably do. I don’t know if priests get paid, but the offering part of mass seems to rake in a huge sum depending on the number of people attending.
Tbf it seemed like they lost the tone at the start but managed to at least do it right near the end. Also I don't think it's even a proper choir tbh considering there's only 2 of them, I've seen 4 people, but not 2 lol.
As a musician I can’t make fun of them because I feel like I might make the same mistake, they just lost what key the song was and that’s why they sounded so hesitant to start it, but they eventually found it though.
the man was supposed to sing it like Ahhhhmen, but the girl sang it like AAAmen, AAAmen, AAhAhAhAmen and got confused. Good thing they met halfway just on time before the song ended.
Even heaven was shaken by it's beauty. Edit: I love how at the end the priest cover up the wine chalace as if to say "dear lawd Jesus, please do not hear this, don't die a second time" XD lol
As a former part of our Cathedral's choir for 3 years, this made me chuckle. We havent experienced this because we practice pretty much all the time. (We most definitely avoid these moments, as much as possible) Imagine performing at hundreds of people, plus the live on tv we are currently at on that time. It sure is nerve wrecking. There are times that Im alone with the pianist. It is pressuring me to the core. But the real song comes from the heart, and they sang it to sing their hearts out to the Lord. They gave their best and offered their time to serve at the mass. Its not that bad, I find it respectful. :] But still. Funny. Hehe.
