Years ago when my youngest son was 8 we went to london to visit for a week. I asked a guard could i take a photo of my son with him. He noded i put my son a distance from the guard but they would both be in the picture. The guard moved next to my son. I was surprised but thrilled. I took the picture and thanked the guard. My son was smiling he thanked the guard as well. If you treat them with respect they are lovely
@@deborahburroughs8905 I cant blame them. If I had to stand still for a view hours, not even being allowed to have a quick chatter, ignoring back pain wearing these lange hats which can become unbearable at summer with people ridiculing me, rubbing their bodies against mine for a picture or provoking me simply for getting some reaction for a viral video....and all of this every day - my friend I wouldnt only be grumpy, I would be totally pissed off. People forget their morals and respect when their tourists sometimes
@@isaiahpatton5558 It's called tradition it's ceremonial job, monarchy countries have them not just uk. There are armed police nearby and the cavalry is inside the building they will show up if needed
@@thynguelno point in that, you only make yourself ill, just let it go, they're going to carry on doing the same thing over & over, now you can understand why the guards have so much patience, bless them all, Amen!😮
The guard behaves in a racist, possibly Islamophobic manner. When at least three blondish, European-looking women move in very close to him, he doesn't bat an eye, but when two very dark-haired young women who could possibly be of non- European descent approach him, he rudely tells them to back off when they are a foot away! Clearly this is a case of discrimination. Some of the guards are dignified in their manners and deportment, and their horses seem to welcome the public's attention, which the kind guards do not discourage. A relative few of the tourists are obnoxious. I think many of the commenters on the guard channels do a disservice both to the decent guards and to the tourists by rather indiscriminately endorsing the unwarranted rudeness and arrogance of some guards and harshly criticising clearly innocent tourists. The royal guards have their jobs primarily for the tourist dollar. They are unquestionably trained military personnel, and they could certainly be lethal with their good command of large well-trained mounts and big swords. However, they would avail nothing in defense against modern over-the-counter weapons, and even a well-aimed surprise machete attack to first topple the horse would take them out, and certainly a grenade would. That is why the area is simultaneously patrolled by heavily-armed modern military guards to protect the mounted guard as well as the royal residences and personnel. Clearly, the mounted guard is there for ceremonial reasons, 1) to appeal to domestic and international tourists whose funding is a critical part of England's economy, 2) to use pageantry to keep alive sanitized popular notions of the breadth and depth of the historical impact of the British Empire on the peoples of the world (covering up the killing of 165 million Indians, hundreds of thousands of Kenyans and other indigenous peoples, causing the butchery of Palestinians through support for racist Zionists, violently exploiting the lands and labor of Ireland and Scotland to the point of forcing many of our ancestors out of our homelands into the diaspora, etc.) While a tiny percentage of the tourists can be discourteous, the steady criticism of them as a whole as rude and stupid is very unfair and often hypocritical and zenophobic. The signs posted that warn that horses can bite and kick and that forbid tourists to touch the reins are only in English, and most of the tourists do not come from the elite economic classes that give members access to horses, so they don't understand signs of agitation. The tourists are often in awe at being near such gorgeous creatures, maybe for the only time in their lives, and every species of animal instinctively seeks to touch what it loves. It is sickening to see the contempt shown by some guards and many commenters for the unwitting tourists who clearly mean no harm and whose interest actually honors the myth of England, especially considering that the British tourism industry invites them to enjoy themselves. Shame!
There is not a single person who says to the Royal Guard: excuse me, sir... Thank you, sir, you have been very kind... Nor do tourists keep a safe distance from the Royal Guard when they take the photo. The Royal Guard is a soldier, therefore he is a public servant in service and he is also a human being who deserves the greatest respect, he is a person of flesh and blood and not a wax figure. Respect him !!.
It's quite sad that they don't treat him with respect. Considering, like you said, he's a Royal Guard to the King, and absolutely deserves respect while manning his post with one of England's highest honors and most important job. When he puts on the red and the white, and straps on his boots and sword, he's meaning business. He is ready to guard and protect at any and all costs. He's ready to die for his majesty the King, shall dying be needed of him on that day. And someone willing to die for England's King, absolutely deserves the utmost honor and respect from anyone that comes in contact with him, and everyone...
Yeah I was watching this thinking to myself that none of these people are being disrespectful so if he suddenly screams at the top of his voice to make way that’s gonna be a dick move!

Nah its cause the household cavalry don’t need to be as strict. They will talk to you (obviously not a convo) but they will talk in a sightly calmer manner.
He put up with that longer than I thought he would. He’s not a figurine that you take a picture with and act like he’s inanimate. He’s a real soldier defending the King.
A most reserved Guardsman. He gave the gentlest stomp possible, and instructed the tourists to step back without screaming. The most Chill Guardsman I've seen yet. Respect.
@@-KIMISAFOXIt's pretty obvious that it is. Could you imagine this job without any tourists or anything? Just standing still in silence wearing those silly outfits day in and day out without anything to distract your mind.. talk about torture

And notice how the people listen immediately and don't get scared and offended. Kudos to this guard! He seems to know what comes with his position and how to respectfully afirm boundaries
After he said stand back he gave a nod which makes me think somebody was coming through and he was just alerting them in what I think was a very polite way to clear the area. He was so polite to everyone and nobody even said Thank you to him.
You can hear someone else talking in the background to make room.... There was someone coming through or something going on, they usually aren't out in front of the arches like that, they're usually behind a chain. It's crazy to see any time these guys come out of their positions, how ridiculously crowded in they are by people with tourist groups, it's almost scary... I'm sure not for these guys, they're military, but I'd be a little intimidated by 8-10 some odd people flocking around me to take a pic and I can't move forward unless I YELL... It's like watching a parade of stupid sometimes 😂 watching these ignorant tourists. On the other hand, I am pretty sure you're not supposed to talk to them. They won't answer and I'd probably feel like Id have to take my pic and keep it moving, not talking to them.

Why all of a sudden he tells the girl to stand back when he's allowed at least half a dozen others practically crawl up his side. She seemed so hurt. Why tell only her to stand back? NOT RIGHT!
They’re highly trained combat soldiers that have the understanding that civilians pose … about the same threat as flies. I feel sorry for these guards being treated like an inanimate statue instead of the respect military personnel deserve. This guard was extremely patient & kind.
If this is the guard who broke protocol and smiled, he's my favorite, too. So polite. Even to people who have forgotten to be polite themselves. He's a credit to the Crown.

The woman with the white shirt blue jeans and sunglasses gave him a "thank you wave". I guess she forgot that she's still allowed to speak even if he can't.
I was really surprised that they were able to get so close and physically touch him. That’s a lot. This young man is a person and he’s doing a job. He’s not a statue. Handsome and polite hahaha those two girls got a bit of a startle when he said “stand back” 😂

At the end he was politely letting them know something was coming through the archway as he nodded to so them something was coming. Very polite Guardsman.
At least it's better than disrespecting the gaurd, from what I've seen on other videos, the tourists in this video are really nice and they don't cause any troubles, which is something we don't see much, yes they should've said thanks and not touch him but they still managed to keep a nice memory without causing drama

(3) What is 'woke slave stuff'? I'd always thought they were Army, but either way not to be messed with. Defo not toy soldiers nor there just for entertainment, which a lot of people don't seem to realise.
I mean they aren’t but they sort of are also. You put some guards out for tourists in little costumes with horsies of course the tourists will make a mockery of it so the country did it to itself. Even if people didnt act like fools and left them alone it would still be a side show at this point.
