心身の不調で音楽も聴けなくなった時に、唯一このアルバムだけが心を癒やしてくれました。ブーニンさんの弾くバッハだけを繰り返し聴いていました。ブーニンさんのバッハには美しさと優しさと悲壮感を取り去ってくれる不思議な力がありました。この演奏に感謝しています。一生の宝物です。先日ブーニンさんも病気や苦しい時期を乗り越えて再び舞台に戻って来たことを知りました。とても嬉しいです。ブーニンさんにしか出せない音を多くの人に聴いて欲しいです。心から応援しています！

この頃はまだ、最近のファツィオリではなく、スタインウェイでしたね。88年、99年にライブを聴きました。凄まじい演奏だったのを記憶しています。 2番目の曲が気になるのですが、これチェンバロ・コンチェルト5番の2楽章の編曲版では？？？

Yes, the second track is not "Capriccio On The Departure Of His Most Beloved Brother, BWV 992 - I. Arioso", but Arioso from Concerto No.5 in F minor, BWV 1056, maybe the Cortot's transcription

Il preludio della partita n1 mi sembra troppo veloce, poco meditativo, come credo invece si presti ad essere. I trilli sono metrnomici e nitidissimi. Forse un piccolo cedimento all’esibizione dell’indubbio virtuosismo, che fa aggio sulla riflessione? Comunque certo un grandissimo pianista.

How wonderful can music be? To all who are atheist I say, listen to Bach played like this. Then you will know for sure there is a God. God hangs on every note. Now I understand why God puts up with humanity.

I heard the G minor English Suite on the radio and then looked this pianist up on RU-vid. I find his playing to be aggressive and abrasive, octaves added in the left hand, rhythmically inconsistent, some repeats taken while others are not, early entrances, late entrances, wide variations in volume - something of which the harpsichord is incapable, the Gavotte was improperly phrased - he plays it as if the upbeat is a downbeat, and the second Gavotte is at a slower tempo than the first. Otherwise, this is a stellar performance.

You think the two gavottes need to be played at the same tempo? Is there some historical reference for this perspective? I think the way he plays the second gavotte is an absolute stroke of genius, and turns it into such a magnificent and pure ray of sunshine and hope in an otherwise austere piece. I've followed his model in other keyboard suites I've played (though not with quite such a dramatic tempo difference), and I think it works extremely well.
