@@Beau74 Unfortunately the game is not quite at the level I think most people might enjoy. It's why I tell most not to jump in yet if they're interested.
This ship and my first experience seeing it completely sold me on star citizen. I had just started playing and on a whim decided to check out crusader. Eventually I found the crusader show room and I was completely blown away. Not only is it an ACTUAL showroom where you can buy the actual ship in game, but also has several of the ships on display and exploreable. It reminded me of when I was a kid and my parents took me to an airspace museum with the enter planes there and some you could walk into. For the first time I felt that a game could legitimately provide a virtual experience similar to a real one. And then the elevator pushed me under the world and I died.
@@dvlx_a997 um you do realize that Morph can’t spend a lot of time as a RU-vid Creator right? He has to work as an architect as well. Not to mention the ships he reviewed before for the most part had been out for a while compared to the MSR. So honestly what are you expecting.
I think they should have put component access in the empty space of the scanning room and used the current engineering for something else like additional hidden cargo, EVA suits, etc.
Not only that but the WHOLE ass end of the ship needs a redesign/under-design.. the entire aft section is unnecessarily busy &over clustered.. the thrusters look like tiny misplaced eyesores who's thrust vector make no sense whatsoever.. nvm the impracticality of having your only access ramp directly underneath &between your thrusters 💀
I can see a single benefit to having the elevator up when the power goes out. That is if your being boarded say you have been EMP'ed just prior. It would limit the access to the rest of the ship to the hidden passageway in the cargo area. Even that would be limited as you will need power or a means of opening the door or restore power which gets the elevator working too.
nah it won't you can just jump up and vault up the space, they really should just remove the mini elevator it serves zero purpose and we don't even use it anymore when it is faster to just jump up to the next level and pull yourself up.
that is true, but you can keep the boxes in the cargo hold which is accessed through the ramp so in most cases you don't need to carry a box up the elevator.
@@MrImmortal709 You can't use the ladder if the elevator is already up, which is what he's saying. That would make the ship harder to breach, especially if the tunnels are only accessible by crew. Like, you don't even get the command prompts, unless the owner gives you permission.
I like that you mentioned an docking collar/escape hatch at the juncture of the main habitation, recreation, cockpit and server room corridor. Adding a hatch in the ceiling there would be practical and give one more nod to the Millennium Falcon. The docking collar could be covered on the exterior so that the current appearance does not need to change, while just changing the ceiling on the interior, including a drop down ladder when opened up. You are also the first person I've seen mention the door and passage design compared to the Ebon Hawk, which couldn't be more alike, and something that makes me like this ship even more. Well done! I enjoyed all the work in adding motion to most if not all the scenes while also including up close views that show off the details.
I agree totally on the closing statement. I've seen so many people complaining about it "being released without its gameplay," when the reality is it's a transport and was always marketed as a dual role cargo and data transport. Only the data side is missing and there is a lot it can do outside of that.
I think they should have left out the Jeffrys Tubes. Then the elevator wouldn not have been necessary and it would have been sleeker. Also some escape pods between bridge and habitation area would have been good and a secondary exit somewhere.
i remember my first day playing star citizen, I was getting comfortable walking around orison and came across the crusader showroom. Needless to say that the mercury star runner is easily my favorite ship
Great review....!!!! I Was a bit disappointed with the smuggling space...but hey not so bad.... And today i Was thinking, what if a teammate has crimestat and is hiding in this space, will we be able to transport him from place to place undetected ? Need to try this.....
Another point is What if i decided to buy a smuggling stuff, i mean at this we cant choose where to store it....thats a bit weird....Whats the point of this hidden cargo space....or may be its not completely implemented right now
@@fredericbecker7965 The first 6SCU goes into the hidden space and the rest goes into the main cargo bay. Yes if you only bought 6 scu of something harmless it would get hidden and if you bought 100scu of something legal then you would only see 94scu in the main cargo bay.
Is it actually the most detailed ship in all of video gaming? I don't know, but it's up there. The time and care put into this ship is impressive. If you'd like to win one, remember to tune in to my Twitch during the upcoming event! www.twitch.tv/itsspacetomato
Yes, more please! This was a great video, and you even spent some time on the HW slots in the hallway to the cockpit that I'm pretty sure is computer blades. Few others have commented on this... And I find them one of the most important parts of this ship as it is them that is going to top off it's versatility. _ED_
First, what a ship. Apart from Star Wars, I'm not sure there's any franchise able to create so much appeal for spaceships (especially among video games). Second, what a video. Man, people rightly praise Morphologis for great content, but Space Tomato you're destined for the top of the top!
I LOVE this ship. During the last free fly i spent all my time in it. It is great to fly, great to run around and looks awesome. All ships have shortcomings but honestly this is an all round space pilots ship. Wish i could buy one from pledge store but my money is better on a prospector for earning cash to buy other ships and upgrading components. In truth if it were not for the ‘fun and games’ this ship thoroughly deserved to be ship of the year. Only thing i would like is another entry/exit point for crew, even if it were just a ladder. You are quite exposed as you drop the back door a bit like a D-Day beach landing craft.
Dude, I've got to say, your videos are quite impressive. Music is engrossing. Cinematics are fantastic. Fade in's are spot on. Impressive. Just subscribed. Keep this up and I'm leaving Noobifier and Bored Gamer. Yes, this game has pissed me off over the years, but you are managing to bring me back in to my star runner, mining, and reclaimer. Gracias !!
Great review and so much better than a walk through. I am sure this took a lot more time to do. Your humor and cinamatics set every thing you do apart from others.
I personally like that the a lot of the ships especially newer ones, have areas that aren't necessarily the absolute "best" use of space everywhere. But instead have accent areas, a little too much room in places, or fancy pilot chairs. Because that's exactly how cars, houses and even public and commercial buildings are in real life.
Personally I don't understand all the buzz about Morphologis. To me the key element of a ship is not design, but narrative. Can a ship be good setting for a good story? That's what I want to know. As you say, we play the game for experience. I can't experience color theory, shape language or ornamentation. But I can experience a good story. The Enterprise, the Millennium Falcon, Serenity. We don't remember these ships for their design as much as for the parts they played in the stories we love. Good video. Nicely shot and edited. Good commentary. Apart from all that, I'd much rather listen to your voice than Morphologis's any day of the week. Keep up the good work. Please.
Excellent video. By far the best and most complete video on the MSR I've seen. And you make a joke about not being Morphologist but you actually commented a lot more on the things I would have expected out of his video than he did. I don't even think he mentioned the lighting or the contrasting tone of utilitarian function of the rear to the more homey and comfortable aesthetics of the front half of the ship. Very Well done video 10 out of 10 would watch again.
The Runner is my favourite ship and i have enjoyed this review very much. You have said many things that came to my mind when i first got aboard. It is a fantastic experience
A few weird design choices but a very nice ship overall. Escape pods needs to be addressed but there're rumors that the cockpit functions as a pod (unhooks from the main ship) so at least the pilot/co pilot may be be saved. Out of the never ships I feel they did a better job with the Carrack and the 890 Jump however and I'm a bit surprised by this.
9:00 man its soooo good that they fixed the turrets. Ships with turrets can have a clear role now, and the MSR is definetly an "anti-fighter-get-off-my-back" kinda combat ship. Which suits its purpose extremely well. And whats better, it actually works as such, with the reworked turret mechanics.
The MSR is a great runner. I landed on Ariel for some laranite, just before take off I heard a fellow trader call out over the comms that someone shoot him down after take off. I figured it to late I can't unload,F it time to go full send. At about 4k meters the raider showed up 8k to my 2 o'clock above heading my way fast. All I could think I need to QT or ill lose 351k in uec. Missile lock, oh shit, QT lock, PUNCH IT. 5min later I land at area 18 with my 60k in profit.
Nice finding your channel. Can’t wait to get in mine. I have not been on since last year and logged in to see my carrack. Didn’t like how large it is. Can’t believe I am saying it but I can’t imagine ever having enough friends who want to run as crew and not just ride their own ship. Think I’ll melt it and get a bunch more small ships Had to come back to agree about the KOTOR ref. Thanks for that.
Fantastic review! Totally on point. Your workbench idea reminded me of the Ebon Hawk from Kotor, and I agree with the other suggestions. Looking forward to flying my friends around in my MSR this weekend!
This marks the second of your videos on this particular ship, which I have seen. I have to admit, I admire your style. Consider me subscribed. Thank you for the wonderful videos!
Excellent job Space Tomato, love your work, the slow panning and the music just brings you in to the seen. As far as the Mercury, it’s beautiful ship from what I’ve seen of it, for sure could have some tweaks like you mentioned plus chairs at computer desks and another lounge chair by the chessboard, hard to play when one gets to sit and the other stands lol. Overall it’s a grate ship but I’m not sure if cig will do any updates like that but time will tell. Cheers 👍
Best review in the 'Verse. Extreme well edited with nice slow planning shots and useful back ground information in the architecture choices. No one else did that. 👍👍
I love the detail of this ship! It is awesome that they did not cut corners on this ship. Especially when it comes to the tunnels. They didnt add hard walls to the tunnels to make it easy to design. They made it so you can see every wire and pipe that makes this beast breath and function. I love the functionality of the ship as well. That you can pretty do what ever you can dream up in this ship with a crew or solo. Being able to fit three ROC comfortably inside makes it even more functional and adding more of what you can do. I think this ship has set a new standard for ships in how they SHOULD be made in the future, or re-making all other ships to be this detailed. Fabulous ship in my opinion.
Awesome ship, I think moving the servers to the scanner room and putting a med bed or two to replace where the servers are now would give you everything you could want from this ship.
Like he said, it is possible that CIG have something planned for that space. The fact that the Terrapin also has a lot of wasted space around the scanning chair seems to support that idea. It would also suggest that the Herald is not as similar as we assume.
Scanning is supposed to be using that big holospehre. You can see it on 600i and carrack, too. Saw one stream where the holosphere showed in the main hall of the star runner (bug). But I agree. With so much space there could have been a captains quarter. But I gues the captains quarter would be more "Origin" style.
the higher firepower CIG granted the MSR alone made it a keeper for me.. but its bigger cargospace and the abillity to transport that amonut of vehicles made it a true jack-of-all-trades. Even a Merlin fits into it or a swarm of Dragonflies.
Thanks for the excellent work. Loved the presentation and narration. I had MSR fever really bad to begin with and was lining up to buy it as soon as IAE 2950 would allow. Then taking a moment to step away from the collective excitement of the community. after a careful review of my current play style and "career" path, I realize I was about to drop cash for a ship that didn't fit that role. The Hercules C2 is what I'll save my money for. With that cleared up, my shopping list for IAE will be CCU for Corsair, MSR, M2 and also buying the Nomad.
HEY TOMATO! The lift up to the server room may appear to be an odd choice as the current ladder or stairs would serve the purpose for *people*, but if you are hauling anything heavy or unwieldy the lift will be beneficial. Maybe a full server farm to replace a burnt out one? Or a new appliance for the recreation room? My guess is the new push carts and diagnostic carts may be a reasoning for having the lift.
I think if you have the Cutlass Black, The MSR and the Carrack (Add a few ROCs) You have most of the gameplay in a solar system. You want to transport your fleet interstellar and have a dedicated Escort, add a Kraken with RRR and your combo of light and medium fighters. Most of the gameplay is covered there
Great video, very high production value and touched on some very good points about the ship. Just a heads up though, they just added a switch to the scanning chair to raise and lower the scanning dish.
Great cinematics. Nicely scripted. Top-tier production. The community just got better. I see you and Morphologis running through the Verse in parallel.
Great presentation - I really like the "cinematic" style. Thumbs up for this video. The ship looks really awesome. Really thinking about going from my MAX to the mercury.
Fantastic review. I love your take on the ship. As an owner, I am very excited to see it in game and get to fly it myself. As for the walk around, it was very well done. I only wish more creators were as considerate as you in not showing all the secret access panels for the hidden doors.
Man, I can't wait for the Connies(I have the Andy and the Aquila) to get the "MSR Pass". They're long over due to be brought up to the rest of the newer flyable ships.
Gosh this is SUCH a good video. A lot better than Morphologis' one. What you said is great, what you showed is great, just really awesome! Yes, please make reviews like this of every ship :D
Such a lovely review, I love the calm and the designdetail you go into. I donät even play the game and I really love this ship after watching this. I would really want you to do this on all of the ships, with an update when enough has changed in the game that the ships have more functionality.
oh my God... Today I thought to myself whilst digging a hole in my garden "It would be great to do a Baked Camembert tonight" then later , I click this video ... and an advert for La Rustiqua Camembert comes on...soooo out of the blue and random.. I mean, i seem to get adverts for that new Balls shaver lately. Thats when its not for some stupid kids zombie mobile game I'll never ever ever even look at. And then.... Space Tomato Spaketh.
Sweet work mate! This ship is for sure a beauty. It's one of those ships my teenage me would have drooled over and wanted to own. I can't wait to see some well thought out machinima with a cool story wrapped around this ship. Mine is always available to you my friend. :)
i think the lift could have been a ramp, the extra room in the scanner room could have house more in my opinion, the crawl space in the ship is almost a standing space and could have been a full lower deck almost, and no chairs for the desks in habitation seems odd(maybe we can add chairs later idk). nice vid
I liked the review. It felt like a mix of Sublimal and Morphologist. The only thing missing was a brief overview of how she handles and flies - but I'm guessing you could ketchup and add that later. 🍅
Like a ship half her size so long as you aren't afraid to use the boost and grab her by the scruff of the neck. I've tried Connie's and the 400i but not coming back to the msr
Great review bro.. The only thing that gets me is there's no escape pods whatsoever and no one's even talking about it... Good for now but we'll see in the future
Hands down the best review of the MSR yet, and there have been quite a few in the last few days. Well done. Perhaps you could have demonstrated it incredible acceleration and top speed of 1285 and shown its agility.
