They did in the comics. Do you recall the aliens from the episode Daedalus Variations where the alternate universe Daedalus appeared and the team began shifting from reality to reality? Those creatures were created by Janus.
@@porpus99 yes I do remember them. That's crazy haha. I never got into to the comics, somthing I've been meaning to look Into but never got around to doing. Primarily due to the direction some of the novels ended up taking after atlantis returned to Pegasus.
In the end though, the wraith were "defeated" by their own winning strategy, their numbers meant they couldn't feed everyone and had to put most of them in stasis.

I always thought the ancients were too arrogant for their own good. Their were other races or groups in the stargate universe that had the same flaw that proved to be their undoing.
Lady of the Sheep when you see how they behaved towards others who they thought were less advanced, you see arrogance. The facts that they created the replicators, and then tried to destroy them when they dident behave as they were intended, but instead became sentient. If you watch the Atlantis series, you see numberous examples of things the ancients did that proved just how arrogant they truly were.
_"and then tried to destroy them when they dident behave as they were intended, but instead became sentient."_ The Alterans didn't try to destroy the replicators, simply after they gained sentience. They replicators were made to fight the wraith and with their sentience decided to destroy the Wraith by starving them....which means killing human beings. So the Alterans tried to stop them from killing people. It was a mistake they had to fix. _"If you watch the Atlantis series, "_ Stargate is my religion, don't argue it's mythos with me
That's not arrogance, they weren't trying to play god they were just trying to create a weapon to defeat their enemies. The fact the machines behaved in a way they didn't anticipate is called a mistake.
They should have done a stargate where it was only about the ancients pre wraith war and until the evacuation of Atlantis throughout the series atlantians did much to fight of the wraith like creating human based replicators and obviously doctor weir arriving in Atlantis
@@brianlindee8891 Well while there may not be a show about it, there is a mod for a game about what you're talking about, there is a Star Wars Empire At War Stargate mod called Pegasus Chronicles, that has a galactic conquest that takes place during the Ancient-Wraith War, you will have to choose the Tau'ri faction in order to play as the ancients, and if you do play as the ancients, you are not expected to win, as the Wraith can pump out dozens of hive ships at the start while the best ship you have is a destroyer. Though you will eventually get Aurora class warships, Cityships like the Delphi, and other kinds of ships. There is no official tech level as far as I know, you can build stations as high as a planet permits, you can build any type of ship at any station level once you have it researched, you can spawn the Replicators and have them get their asses kicked by the Wraith while you finally manage to sit down and have a cup of tea. Also unless stated otherwise, all research is done on Lantea. Also there is a time limit for the majority of these missions. In order to access the Galactic Conquest part of it you will have to get the beta version on the steam workshop, I do not know if there is a beta version on moddb.
The scientist should of had a message display on the control room display letting them know the city will rise when power gets to critical levels and that there’s some one in Stasis. This would of most likely have prevented the wraith from learning about them for a while. Especially if he also had information on the Wraith set to be Access right away, then they could have known to be extra careful when they use the Stargate to prevent the wraith from finding out about them.
If I remember the episode correctly Janus' boss was very unhappy about the timeship existing and forbade Janus from making it in the new timeline. I'm guessing that there was one already existing in the hanger in the new timeline, I mean, where did the one in the old timeline come from? Probably when Janus was told off he either removed the timedrive from his pod or sent the pod to some location/time known only to him for future recovery.
Blue dots turning red.....im sure ive seen that somewhere before.... "The blue dots represents every human on the planet. And the red dots.....are the mutants." X men 1
"Enemy-Detecting Radar" is common screen trope. Enemies, hostiles, and targets are always red. Friendlies are almost always blue. It's not really realistic but it allows a lot of information to be visually conveyed to the audience, less time on boring dialogue/filler so more time for Hollywood/television excitement (and commercials).
When actress Tori Higginson was placed into stasis in the final episode of "Earth 2", the series was canceled and we never learned her fate. At least on Atlantis, we found out how she ended up.
It can all be summed up as "The ancients were arrogant." Everything about them screamed of arrogance, so when they finally got what was coming to them, they crumbled. And it even shows in the city design! The city, (Which turned out to be a warship) was so poorly designed that it REQUIRED the shield, and if it failed, or even faltered for a second, everyone there as in SERIOUS risk! It had no redundancy to help prevent issues, of a shield failure, no armor to protect itself if the shield failed, and HIGHLY important components were placed in highly vulnerable areas so if a slight bit of damage happened too it, you go well outside the protection of the shield to fix it. And finally their main, (and as far I can see only excluding 1 satellite laser) weapon the drone, while highly powerful, is a 1-time use weapon, and the relied on the same power as the shield to function! So if 1 failed, they both failed. Not to mention that since the drones were actual objects, you had to store them somewhere. If you had to move, you had to pack them each up, move them individually. Seriously, I loved Atlantis, but that is IN SPITE of the ancients who were clearly "So advanced" that they had evolved to have their head up their own a__!
Jacob Kleinsasser when you are the highest on the food chain, you no longer think you will ever be prey. The Ancients endured such a long stretch where no one else was superior to them, they did not need to think defensively. We have examples of that in our history of superior powers defeated by “lesser” ones. And during that time the Ancients were the top of the totem pole, they were more focused on knowledge than technology. Such lofty ideals as the “secret” of the universe and other plains of existence. The Ancients weren’t “doomed” per say..... once they discovered how to ascend like the Ori, that was all that mattered.
,The City was design to be CityShip ,so its a mobile base ,also the Ancients that the Expedition met are not the ones that Designed ,& Builded the City in the 1st place.
Logically by in show cannon standards they would appear pretty arrogant and so on. But if they were around for millions of years while being advanced at the same time. They would have had many many problems that came up that they dealt with that we never knew about. On that time scale lets remember the wraith and so on are very very very recent issues. If the ancients never ascended they would have taken care of them, like they did all the other problems we don't know about over those hundreds of thousands of years. For all we know they were treating it all as a science experiment since they just recently went to that galaxy and weren't even very established there if I remember correctly. This is all making up shit but seems like a pretty logical line of reasoning giving the cannon of the show.
7.25 -9.28 , reveal that the Ancient Janus did keep his promise to make a new Time machine Puddle Jumper ,also Janus himself was present in this episode those unseen for obvious reason ,so he would know to leave 1 or 2 Drones in the Jumper , this time drive was clear able to make somewhat shorter Time Jump than what we later when SG1 use it go back to Ancient Egypt around time that Ra was force to leave Earth.
You slipped a sound track in there I know all to well. PRELUDE TO WAR! Battlestar galactica baby! IM GETTING MY MEN. love that scene. Excellent choice.
this is what happens when a 5 year old make's a video before he/she learned how to spell so it is obvious spelling is harder then making a video on your computer and uploading it to RU-vid
Wraith had tech that rivalled the Ancients - Darts get brought down by small arms fire and the Wraith routinely get outplayed by Earth. Wraith magically summoned lots of numbers - Ancients never bothered to send a fleet to the magical cloning facility to nuke it because they never bothered to find it or wonder where all the numbers were coming from. The Wraith the show tried to paint are not the same Wraith that developed across the entire series... just like the Goauld in SG-1.
I just saw this video and that was my first question though at first I thought is was my phone then i paused it and i realized it was the background music
I would have liked that she follow the #Ancient back to earth and she could see the old Humans culture. It could be a great scene Dr. Weird heading to Rome, Greek even Mayans...etc.
While a cool idea, she traveled back about 10,000 years. Rome was about 2000 years ago, Greece isn't even a beta version yet, Mayan culture and their empire was actually shockingly recent. Ten thousand years ago humans were still in the Mesolithic stone age. So right around when humans were giving up hunter gathering culture for agriculture.
@@55445 Depends who you listen to. Depending on dating Egyptian civilization was going strong then, so clearly not hunter gatherer culture. As much as some ancient scholars pretend we know so much, we really don't. We know some things that do not even remotely paint a complete picture. I mean there are countless idiots today who say Jesus never existed while he was one of the most documented figures of his time. Different people say different things.
*I agree, because analytical logic dictates since Zero Point [Energy] Modules are the primary power source for their city, etc the Atlantians would have a storage room in the city overflowing with ZPM's.*
I believe by that point they realized that the Wraith were using the ZPMs, so they didn't keep any extras on hand anywhere, let alone in a city they were about to abandon. The things last a LONG time so it's not an immediate need.
One of the writers said in an interview, that the factory for ZPM would have been in Atlantis in something like pocket dimension, even for cases something would go wrong with the production, which could cause explosion. It also stands to reason, that this "factory" would have been sabotaged by Atlanteans themselves during evacuation just in case Wraith would somehow manage to get the Atlantis, reaching the factory, making them insanely powerful.
They could've used the time dialation technology that MORGAN created to keep Dr.Wear relativly untouched by time... Just saying you can keep entire civilizations in mint condition and revive them once again don't forget that the WRAITH beaming technology that kept people safe in a STARGATE ATLANTIS episode... it reminds me of SCOTTY from STAR TREK TNG on how he was able to keep himself alive by having himself get stuck in the transporter... to the the past or future in the blink of an eye
1. Morgan's time dilation field is ascended tech, not ancient. If the ancients ever mastered time dilation technology in deacceleration mode, it was probably not comparable to the ascended version. Also Merlin was in stasis for less than 2000 years while Wear was in stasis for 10.000 years. As for wraith transporters they can store a human, yes. However the signal is still subject to degradation (what can I say, entropy is a bitch) and after such a long time you will no longer be able to reintegrate the person in question.
My english is so Bad to let me make this following in english sorry ^^ you will need use translator ^^ J ai toujours pensé que le fait que merlin soit revenu dans notre plan d existence est en partie dû également a l homme qu'il était a cette époque. My theory ^^
3.17 , 'there over 300 people on that transport ship' which mean the ship in question is likely that ship that later used by the Pegasus Asgard to attack Atlantic
I didn't think the Wraith are powerful enough to defeat the Ancient even with Superior numbers. Stargate Personnel are using technology that over 10,000 years old and are still able to inflict heavy losses on The Wraith. you would think by this point the Wraith would have a little more technologically even
With much of their enemies being gone and the bulk of the wraith also being in stasis there was no real cause for innovation. Just like any culture without challenge or purpose, all that remains is stagnation.
The Wraith could replace their losses far faster and easier than the Ancients. The wraith didn’t win many actual battles, but every victory for the ancients was pryhic. So eventually they just got overwhelmed.
@@Revan2908 Actually, as the 1994 movie indicates as well as multiple characters during the actual SG1 show, Rae raeached earth in about 8000BC. Atlantis show indicates, that around the same time Lanteans returned to Earth from Pegasus as well.
Here's my question I get they couldn't win the war so they fled to Earth. But why didn't they just fly the city to Earth? They had 3 ZPM's more than enough to survive the flight while being attacked by the wraith.
They were under siege, meaning they couldn't just go out of the planet even if by some kind of luck they actually made it to hyperspace The Wraith could have followed or severely damaged the city and they could have been drifting into space. Kinda how Atlantis was when our team moved after the replicator attack.
kevin waag the wraith ships were a lot slower than the ancients it would have got to the point where they couldn’t track them. Also the city survived for years getting shot at a 5 minute flight into space should have been easy.
@@indecisive5365 The most important part of flying is "lifting". The power required to leave the "ground" is enourmous. For that time being, like 2-3 minutes the ZPMs need to be completely focused to hold the shield and lift the city up. This is just in peaceful times. Imagine hundreds of wraith ships around the planet. They are ready to open fire. And as soon as they spot Atlantis emeging they open fire. From the last episode in the fight with the superhive you can hear Beckett stating that the receiving the blasts from the hive have a big effect on the city's flying curve. Technically blasting it into the "air". Pushing it down because there is not enough energy to withstand those shots. By the time the Ancients have decided to leave Atlantis the wraith have managed to acquire a couple of ZPMs. Therefore they could have built more than one of tthese superhives. 5-6 superhives, hundreds of hives and other ships blasting Atlantis would result in the effect of Atlantis simply not being able to lift up. The firepower was just too big from the other side. Sure they could withstand them and the Shield could have survived but the city would not be able to elevate from the "ground".
@@humorpalanta to be fair those shots came from a super hive, normal shots will probably have significantly less kinetic energy. However the wraith could also just have started to slam give ships into the city. It may not be enough to break the shield but enough to push Atlantis back. And sure it will break the hive ship eventually but they really didn't care about that. Plenty more where that came from.
@@victorselve8349 I agree with you. Also at the end of the war the wraith have managed to get a couple of ZPMs so we can assume they had superhives back then too. So from the reality point of view it was an understandable choice that the Ancients just left.
The lore strongly indicates they can't be recharged, and even if they could, if you had the ability to generate enough power to recharge a zpm to a reasonable capacity, you wouldnt need a ZPM in the first place, you could simply use those generators to power the city Edit: spelling
@ SupremeCmdr: Indeed, that is likely and it should be obvious… but native English speakers in the US have become so ridiculously inept and "challenged" regarding their language skills, particularly written, that it has become equally if not more likely that such a mistake was made by a poorly educated American! I can't figure out how to correct "you stopping twats" in your second sentence to reflect what you intended to convey―but I like it anyway :) BTW, there are two different spellings; one in the title and another in the description. That can not be explained or justified by language barrier; that is indicative of carelessness, apathy, and a deeper level of ignorance (not just mere language/orthography unfamiliarity). It's quite pathetic actually…
Ok, there are one of two things I do with forced advertising one hit mute and go get food or drink or two change programming.Oh sorry never make a purchase from the advertiser again or that website buy it somewhere else.
I have a couple problems with this scenario. 1: Ancients, arguably the most advanced species in the universe, didn't do a single life signs sweep before the last ones left the city?? 2: he failsafe was designed to rise the city BEFORE the shield failed to save the expedition but when the city is shown rising, there is no shield. Each building comes out of the water separately and there is even water draining off the city, so clearly the shield had already failed either right before or during the ascent.

If Janis left his time ship behind... where did he go? You would think there'd be evidence... I think he left his scientific research behind too or he became immortal went underground on earth and kept innovating
Well the timeship SG1 finds in the episode where Maybourne is a king, with which they timetravel in Moebius episodes to collect ZPMs is possibly created by him. That implies that he either built more of them or this was simply the last place he left it. If I am not mistaken, the Atlantis expedition uses the very same ZPM to power up Atlantis in its first Wraith siege, which to me further indicates, that Janis possibly knew about the siege so he left the timetravel behind for SG1 to find it. In roundabout way, helping them protect the Atlantis one more time. If thats all true, he was time travelling quite a lot.
honestly I think the problem with this is that the difrent civilizations are so powerful but they only prepared and over prepared for one type of thing, like a laser gun that can shoot huge blasts but in between might have to take long time to charge not being still powerful but fast blasts. Seriously though, that's what I think, they over prepared for one thing and thought other things imposible
The thing i will never understand is : Why did he not tell her how to build a ZPM ... Everything could have been possible then. He could also give her every plan needed to build a lantian starship ...
That’d be like trying to explain to a farmer from the year 1000 how to build a nuclear reactor and how to alter it make a bomb. I mean sure he can try to do that, but like don’t expect it to work without all the necessary theory and education needed. And it’d also take like forever to explain that, time he doesn’t have. Now granted he could leave behind a device with the instructions, but he’d have to hide that from the others as he downloads that info, i doubt he has that hardcoded into his mind. And that’s not going into the ascended ancients who could have just destroyed the device to prevent them from interfering with a ‘lesser’ species.
@@Gothic7876 All of those factories had long since been destroyed y the time Atlantis was evacuated, to say nothing of 10,000 years later. He did give her a list of gate addresses where there may have been ZPMs, but none of them panned out.

@Damjan: Why would 'acience' be a porn genre, or have anything to do with porn? Am I missing something etymological, orthographic or otherwise that suggests a connection? It's certainly not context based since I didn't see any naked people or anything sexually suggestive. As the title states, this is clearly stargate/sci-fi related.
@Damjan: Oh... BTW, if that was meant as a joke, what typically makes jokes of that nature funny is an actual or at least perceived connection or suggestion of a connection―and that is really quite broad. Could be anything from a word that rhymes, or who knows what really… But I just don't find anything to make your query funny; and I love to laugh and a good joke :) That's why I asked if I'm missing something in my first comment
