@@stormbliksem3439 TFA was a soft reboot; a place for other writers and directors to kinda cast their line into this wide sea of potential storyhooks to continue the new trilogy. What TLJ needed to do was extrapolate on the characters and further the details of the surrounding world/setting. Especially as Act II in a three part film series, TLJ needed to move certain things forward that it simply did not do. Whatever your opinions on TFA are, the reason JJ's typical "ask-as-many-questions-as-possible-without-ever-knowing-the-answers" shtick works for that film, is because that movie didnt need to do anything, series-wise, besides just reintroducing us to the Star Wars Universe. TLJ didn't move anything forward. Truly, nothing happened in that movie. The characters barely changed, the struggle between the Resistance and the First Order did not change, and it ended bereft of clues on what the next one should be about. It was almost like RJ wrote Star Wars: Episode 7.5; an interlude or a side quest before returning to the main storyline. I urge you to go watch TLJ again after seeing RoS, because I had initially forgotten how little TLJ does for advancing literally any story or worldbuilding elements forward. The reason RoS was a fever dream slideshow mess of a film is because, A. JJ Abrams is never that good at answering his questions, and B. (And most importantly) Because TLJ wasted 2 hours and left whoever would be made to write/direct Episode 9 with absolutely nothing to work with.

Pretty sure they had to bring back Palpie as a hail Mary attempt to like try and "fix" what TLJ fckd up... They literally killed the main baddie and all that was left was Kylo Emo pretentious tantrumlike evilness for Ep9 and they had no road map as to what to do.... They had a target release date and compromises had to be ade in order to just cash in... Very Sad this last trilogy. Hope it will be studied as how NOT to approach a franchise revival..... Also very sad the Versio storyline was not continued. It was indeed very interesting seeing the aftermath of the Empire's demise. I kinda liked the way they brought it back in the Mandalorian (Operation Cinder reference).

I didn't like Palpatine coming back. It pretty much destroyed the point of the skywalker bloodline and retconned all 6 of the movies. The reason why the other movies weren't good is because they didn't plan a storyline. Who the fuck does that?! George Lucas made a storyline for the prequels, it wasn't good but at least he had a synopsis for it

Actually I bought into that concept. One of the world’s targeted by Operation Cinder was Iden’s home world, despite that world being THE MOST loyal to the Empire.
