Me too! Hot Wheels makes a little toy model of it that’s fairly accurate. I was lucky enough to find one. The A-Wing was always the hardest to hit in the old Tie Fighter computer game.

@@spiritofthewolf15x I remember those. I had a Tie Fighter and a Tie Interceptor which both miraculously disappeared from my mothers house after my nephew stayed one weekend a few years ago.

It's the ultimate dogfighter, it's faster and more maneuverable than TIE fighters

TIE Fighter, and the Tier 5 A-Wings in Kessel space in SWG. Makes you want to tear your hair out in clumps!

It was not A-Wing , but most possibly R-22 Spearhead, as A-Wing will be employed in last part of old trilogy, it may even be possible that it was not avaliable in time of part 4 or 5.

The BTL Y-wing is still my favourite from playing Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 on the GameCube. Always felt like a sturdy ship.

I especially love the B-Wing. It was different from all the spacecraft we had seen before and added some diversity to the rebel fleet. I hope you keep making these Star Wars Legends videos, they're pretty cool.

I played Tie fighter in the same series and they were at the same time my favorite and most annoying foe. Favorate because the ships abilitys being so distinct realy made the game and they were one of the more distinct ones, most annoying because in the A-wings case that distinct ability was that they easily dodged any tie attempting to target them meaning I had to tell my wingmates not to waste there time every 5 minutes.

And that's exactly the point of interceptors.

I know. Still preferred the generic X-Wing though since it can stand its ground better. I'll give the A-Wing one thing though: I'd rather use one against an Avenger instead of an X-Wing. The X-Wing is just too slow.

And the X-Wing is relatively easy to fly. I liken the difference between the two to the difference between a Spitfire and a P-47; The Spit is agile, but tricky to fly, while the P-47 is heavily armed and built like a tank.

@@MortimerZabi Yeah, I know what you mean. I didn't find it that bad, (I personally hated Y-wing missions the most), but it sure was easy to just... Die from random stray shots... Often an hour or more into a long mission... XD I preferred the B-wing - at least ingame. Firepower exceeding anything, armor and shielding better than a Y-wing, almost as fast and equally as maneuverable as an X-wing, it really was almost unfair using that against the average unshielded tie fighter...

This is something i'd really like to get in, as well as info on methods of artificial gravity (Linear, Centrifugal, Technological etc.) atm its pretty difficult to keep it all streamlined and not just a wall of information. I'm planning to update the framework a bit at the next subscriber milestone so i'll try and get it in then. :) Thanks again for watching. :D

Yeah, one of the things I always liked about Star Wars was how there was a definite technology progression in the movies. I thought it gave a certain amount of plausibility in that both the Alliance and the Empire were obviously learning from past experiences and developing new weapons based on them. Then Star Wars: Rebels came along and suddenly the tech progression is tossed aside for "rule of cool." I was disappointed when I realized that the Rebels would be using A-Wings instead of Z-95s.

The B-Wing is only in prototype stage though. Sure, it was introduced way earlier, but the cost of building a fleet of B-Wings, never mind having to re-engineer them to how they appeared in Return of the Jedi from Quarrie's prototype, isn't something the Alliance could feasibly do at such an early stage. The A-Wing's early introduction also doesn't make that little sense considering that it's very similar to the Eta-2, V-Wing, and Delta 7 in design philosophy - it also shares a builder with two of them.

mmh. I can see what you're getting at. The X-wing has always seemed to be the mainstay of the Rebellion, and even in the films we only see the A and B-wings in Return of the Jedi... The Y-wing being particularly old and vulnerable makes sense, and that the B-wing essentially replaces it does too... But rebels sure does make a lot of use of A-wings well before you would expect those to exist... If they need something that isn't quite an X-wing, surely they could've dug up some other, older design that has a similar function?

I'm picturing them being used by the New Jedi Order.

@ Bridge Commander was made by the same team that created the X-wing and Tie fighter games half a decade earlier. They knew what they were doing, mostly. I find the gameplay of the Starfleet and Klingon academy games was just more... Interesting. There were a lot more factors to consider, so battles could be more varied without needing any pre-scripted contrivances. Don't get me wrong, I love Bridge Commander, and it is one of the most moddable games ever made (I completely rewrote how the shields worked once just for the fun of it.), but the actual core gameplay had a few... Oversights that made it less interesting than it could have been. Also the AI was only semi-competent, with one of the biggest oversights being it's complete lack of awareness of how to deal with firing arcs. (That oversight was the difference between destroying a Romulan Warbird without taking any hull damage, vs being destroyed by one that barely took any damage from you at all - almost entirely because the AI doesn't know how to stay away from the very narrow firing arc of the warbird.) Still, it was a very impressive game in so many ways... And for all it's shortcomings it was also a huge amount of fun anyway.
