Seeing Grievous' slaughter of the Nightsisters from their perspective reminded everyone of how terrifying he actually is. Clone Wars made him seem weak since it was mostly from the perspective of Jedi who can stand up to him (usually), but to a normal person... he's a true nightmare.

@@_Chaosnight_ This is the hottest take lmao. Dave has refused to bring in EU fan favorites over the years all because "we have to make sure to respect the characters we bring in from the EU" because he's an actual idiot, Also if we're going on what grievous is better, the clone wars micro series grievous was better than every other version as a villain. George Lucas knew what starwars moral lessons and philosophy was and knew how the force worked because he created it all, this series is a bastardization of starwars.

@@dalewilliams4451 Filoni literally can't make a show without retconning someone's work (BB show with Kanan comic etc.). In current cannon his characters are everywhere, doing everything and getting so much spotlight and the best thing is, he doesn't know what to do with them, Ahsoka should have died on Malachor (it would only strengthen the belief that Luke is the only one able to redeem Anakin) and don't let me get started on Sabine & her "force" powers. I really enjoyed both of their characters in Rebels, but Filoni had to butcher them to fit into his "show". I hope this rant makes sense, English isn't my first language.

I agree with your statement "I know that's the most cold-blooded I've seen him, but that was pretty cool!" That sums up Grievous for a lot of the fan base: you'd obviously hate him if he was a real person, but for a character meant to depict as a genocidal warlord who is an expert at combat and utterly ruthless on the battlefield, it shows he's a successful character, and that deserves all the praise! A villain you grow to hate for their in-universe actions, rather than how they are written, is a good villain!

In the original lore Thrawn invents the Tie Defender , but this does make sense too , Thrawn is like the ultimate micro manager. A man who is always 10 moves ahead of you ! And knows we’re every piece on the board is at all times. Thrawn is trying to protect his people there is a likeable quality to him. The Empire is just a tool to protect his people , problem is the ends justify the means to Thrawn

Oh wow, this is their first time meeting Thrawn, it's not much but it does show off a lot of his character. Lars Mikkelson really lends a cold reading that Thrawn deserves, the barely raised whisper belying a hidden power. Your order of watching makes for an interesting set of reactions, gooood.

Filoni's cheap one-dimensional Thrawn? Yes. In the 6 canon novels however, Thrawn is more heroic and noble than most jedi. He's a patriot who's willing to die for his people. He rescue his crew and children Chiss.
@renuzui
@renuzui 4 месяца назад
@@masteryoghurt2110 I mean....Zahn himself stated after Ahsoka aired that Filoni understands the character well and that he supports his interpretation of him. He also said he believes Thrawn’s motivations in Ahsoka still stems from him wanting to help the Chiss Ascendancy. Obviously, we’re going to be getting a lot more of Thrawn in the current canon-so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what else Lucasfilm has in store for his character. But if Timothy Zahn approves, that’s enough for me tbh. And hopefully LF and Filoni will continue to collaborate with Zahn and ask for his input. He seems to be respected there thus far, imo.
@masteryoghurt2110
@masteryoghurt2110 4 месяца назад
@@renuzui What do you expect him to say in his situation? The fact is that Filoni's Thrawn is a different character. A worse one of course. He doesn't care about his crew, he never acts like a teacher (which happens very often in the books), he's way less competent, he's more ruthless, brutal and less honorable. And what's the most important thing he seems to not remember anyone who was important in his life - A'ralani? Eli Vanto? The Ascendancy? The Grysk? The difference is clear.
@renuzui
@renuzui 4 месяца назад
@@masteryoghurt2110 I mean, that’s just your opinion then, dude. I watched one of his interviews and Zahn seemed genuine and excited for Thrawn’s future. If he were actually upset, I doubt he would stay silent about it. Working closely with Disney/Lucasfilm has not stopped other previous cast or crew members from voicing their complaints before. If you hate Thrawn’s characterization, more power to you, I guess. But the fact of the matter is that Timothy Zahn seemingly has no problems with the direction that Filoni has taken with the character, and has in fact praised him highly. Simply stick with Zahn’s writings if you’re so pressed. Although, I’m afraid you may still be disappointed considering how Thrawn is now very much tied into the new canon. And Zahn has spoken about being open to writing what the character did in between shows-so we’d definitely get allusions to said shows and how Thrawn was in them lol.

They made the new Grievous model for that one brief snippet in the intro montage in Season 7 of Clone Wars, so seeing them get to use it properly, and in one of the most badass displays Grievous has had since 2003-4 is great. And as an intro to Thrawn...this is good, he's pragmatic, but chilling. He's something of a unique leader in the Empire, (aside from just being an alien in a position of power, which is very, very rare in the Imperial power structure) and definitely one to watch for.

13:00-14:33 This is exactly Why you need to Watch rebels First. Ruhk is a character from 1991 The Thrawn Trilogy. This ruins the surprise that he is back into canon. He is Thrawn's personal bodyguard and enforcer. He is a Norgri. Though this is Pellion's first appearance he's only name dropped before this. He plays a gigantic role in the EU. Originally he was Thrawn's second in command of his fleet. And after years of conflict with the New Republic he became the head of state in the Imperial Remnant. He officially brokered the peace and ended of the Galactic Civil War by surrendering his forces to Leia Solo. The Galactic Alliance has a class of Star Destroyer named after him. This show is just a collection of easter eggs for book nerds. This show is made better with the context of Rebels being watched first. Since nothing here is explained till that show. Guess you now know that Thrawn is back. But since you watched the live action stuff first, this is the same planet from Mandalorian season two episode The Jedi. People just kinda assumed the character was a Dathomir Witch when she fought Ahsoka with that spear. This just gives context to what was supposed to be a big reveal in Ahsoka's show.

Incorrect. His inclusion here is meant to show that he is an important character. If said character shows up later down the line then they will recognize him as being the character that they first saw here. It is the exact same thing for other characters that appear In bad batch. It is the same thing as seeing characters such as rex jesse and other clones in tales of the jedi. We know that they're important because we've seen all of clone wars. I am watching another RU-vidr who is doing a chronological walk through and she has gotten up to book of boba fett. And when a certain character showed up in that show her reaction was the exact same as all of us who had watched the other shows prior.

Thrawn is one of the best characters in Star war's, he's very well written and his ambitions and motives are so far more human then most Imperial characters He actually cares aswell, when Thrawn seeks an ally he doesn't do it to exploit them, he does it because he legitimately sees them as someone who could aid him in his goals, he knows that he needs more than tools to be successful but allies and even friends whom he ows favors and those that owe him

Tales of the empire has the same structure as tales of the jedi: 6 chapters with two different stories. One you know it now, though it is true you'll have to wait a while for morgan elsbeth's story to continue. The other, you'll know soon. Just a hint. You know its main character. By the way, one great detail in the first episode is the other nighsister clan. Both these and morgan, ventress and talzin's clan knew how to use the force in their own way, but this clan rejected the dark side. Sadly, this is the only time they show them on screen.

Looks like we're going ahead and watching Tales of the Empire before Bad Batch. It's a great series, but I personally like Tales of the Jedi a bit better. But, Tales of the Empire did give us an actual scary General Grievous for the first time in quite a while, which I really loved. He's one of those villains you just love to hate, because he really is just pure evil. I really love that we get to see him from the perspective of someone who isn't a Jedi. Nightsisters can be very powerful, like Mother Talzin, but many of them are essentially just normal people, so someone like Grievous is an absolute terror. And of course, after a time jump into the Imperial era, you get an introduction into one of the most iconic villains in Star Wars that isn't a Force user with Thrawn. We'll see more of Thrawn and Morgan Elsbeth in later shows, but it's going to be interesting seeing you learn more about them with this being your introduction to them. I'm excited, let's go on into the fun facts for today! Starting in episode one, we get introduced to Morgan Elsbeth, one of the Nightsisters, as General Grievous and the droid army is in the process of wiping the Nightsisters out on the order of Count Dooku; this means that this episode is set in the middle of the Clone Wars (in the season 4 episode "Massacre" and a bit after). We get to see her mother, Selena, use Nightsister magick to enchant a pair of sickles (which was pretty neat) to fight, but it unfortunately isn't enough. Morgan is chased by some BX-series commando droids, making their first appearance since Clone Wars season 7, episode 4, "Unfinished Business." Morgan falls unconscious and wakes up in the care of the Mountain Clan, another clan of Dathomiri witches (not to be confused with the Singing Mountain Clan, another witch clan of Dathomir) making their debut; we also see that the tattoos on Morgan's face are apparently linked to a Nightsister spell, since they fade after the source is destroyed. In addition to the BX-series droid commandos, we also get the return of the B1-series battle droids and B2-series super battle droids as well as the Ringneck recon droid (a precursor to/variant of the Imperial Viper probe droid we first see in Empire Strikes Back) and several HMP droid gunships. Moving on to episode 2, we see Morgan pitching a new starfighter design, the TIE/d Defender Multi-Role Starfighter, to a group of Imperial navy officers and an Imperial Moff, Moff Isdain (making his first and, so far, only) appearance in this episode, onboard an Imperial Star Destroyer over Coruscant. She mentions her factory on the planet Corvus, which is the planet she governs that we see her on in her first appearance in the Mandalorian Chapter 13: The Jedi. After Isdain and the other Imperials reject her design, another Imperial officer approaches her. This is Gilad Pellaeon (voiced by Xander Berkely, who also plays him in his live action appearances), a captain in the 96th Task Force of the Imperial Navy under Admiral Thrawn, who has sent him to several meetings in search of talent. After their interaction, we get to see the planet Corvus and its settlement, Calodan, for their first onscreen appearance since The Mandalorian. When Morgan Elsbeth exits her starship (the type of ship as well as the ship's name are still unknown), we see that she is flanked by several HK-87 assassin and gladiator droids (HK standing for hunter-killer) of the same type as the ones we see her use in The Mandalorian. Later, Elsbeth is attacked by Rukh, an assassin in the service of Thrawn, voiced by Warwick Davis (Davis actually started his acting career in Star Wars; he played Wicket, the first Ewok we see in Return of the Jedi, when he was just 11 years old). Rukh is a Noghri, a reptilian species native to the planet Honoghr known for their keen sense of smell and combat prowess. In Legends, the Noghri are fanatically loyal to Darth Vader due to an agreement he made in exchange for the Empire restoring their planet from an ecological disaster that occurred during the Clone Wars when a Lucrehulk-class Core Ship with a cargo of the toxin Trihexalophine1138 crashed onto Honoghr's surface, killing most of its plant life (in reality, the Imperial restoration teams deliberately kept Honoghr poisoned using a hybrid grass called kholm grass that killed off the remaining plant life in order to keep the Noghri bound to the Empire). After a fight between the two, Captain Pellaeon reveals himself before Elsbeth can land a killing blow on Rukh and introduces his superior, Admiral Thrawn, voiced by Lars Mikkelsen (brother of Mads Mikkelsen, who plays Galen Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Thrawn, full name Mitth'raw'nuruodo, is an Admiral of the Imperial Navy and an officer in the Chiss Ascendancy, an aristocratic oligarchical nation that governed Chiss space. The Chiss, which Thrawn is a member of, are a near-human species native to the icy planet Csilla (though Thrawn himself is from the planet Rentor). Most Chiss names were multisyllabic and consisted of three parts, as in Mitth'raw'nuruodo. The first portion identified an individual's family, the second was the given name, and the third indicated other social factors. Many Chiss did opt to use shorthand names, called core names, (e.g. Mit [th'raw'n] uruodo = Thrawn) for the sake of expediency. Thrawn was originally created as an antagonist for the novel "Heir to the Empire," written by author Timothy Zahn and published in 1991. It would end up being the first installment in a series that would end up being known as "Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy." Thrawn is very much a fan favorite character and, while not quite as good as his Legends counterpart, is still a fantastic villain. Well, that's everything I can think of for these episodes. If you're interested, I'd recommend reading the Thrawn trilogy sometime; they're very good books. I'll see you guys next week as we finish Morgan's Tales of the Empire journey and start the next section of the show. See you then 😀

I have a response to your 'hit by a bus' comment. The episode does not explicitly state it, but it is implied that the mountain girls know of the powers. The mountain clan has 'their ways'. We the audience don't know what their ways are until the end. The mountain girls do. They may not be trained or have finished their training, but they know of their ways. You're probably then wondering why the girls would go for the weapons if yhey know of their ways. Because the Nightsisters have their own ways as well. The Nightsisters with their magics and their ways were slaughtered by Grievous. The girls were worried that their ways were not enough to protect them.

@@brucechmiel7964I don't think it will spoil it, if anything when they get to Rebels and ahsoka, they'll point recognise the characters and be appreciative that they were added into the new show, despite it coming out first. they'll point at the screen and act like Leonardo DiCaprio in that one meme 😅

Morgan Elsbeth was in The Mandalorian S2 Episode 5 (The Jedi) - that was the episode that introduced Ahsoka in live action - if you remember, the mandalorian travels to the planet Corvus (this one in this episode) to find Ahsoka, and ends up helping her overthrow the magistrate (Morgan). Morgan fought Ahsoka in that episode with the same beskar spear she fights with in this one, the same spear Ahsoka then gives to mando. The asian man who seems to be the leader of these people is also the old man in that episode. Thrawn is an iconic villain in Star Wars and you'll see him again.

Will they ever react to the boys?

Problem is that we saw the first two seasons on our own before doing reaction channel. Then we had our season 3 reaction recorded but it’s tough starting a series in the middle of a show for reactions we’ve found. People like to see the whole journey 🤗

No guys you already saw Morgan Elsbeth in the past, in the second season of The Mandalorian, she fought Ahsoka, and then she comes back for the Ashoka series, and Thrawn debuts in Rebels and then he comes back for the Ahsoka series too.

Are you sure they watched the mandalorian? I couldn't find any reactions they did for it beyond the trailers

@@brandonokeeffe1193 Well, if they have reacted to the trailers for seasons 2 and 3, it is because they have seen it on their own, but if I am wrong then I hope their reactions to the series, but I believe that they have seen it.

The amount of shills in here is absolutely insane lmao. This series bastardizes the philosophy of starwars and how the force works which was laid down in the original starwars trilogy.
