Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Matthew Wood, Dee Bradley Baker, Ashley Eckstein, Matt Lanter, and James Arnold Taylor take a look back at the beginning of Lucasfilm Animation and how Star Wars: The Clone Wars came to be.
38:47 - " You are my Obi-Wan! " That's me, and I'm still very grateful that my voice reached him ❤ James deserves to feel our love and deserves more recognition for his huge and pivotal contribution to the character! The common perception is that live action stories and the actors involved are " bigger and better " , as he said talking about Ewan, but that's not true. Truth is.. without the animation the Saga would never be what it is today. Every single person who worked on " The Clone Wars " and " Rebels " shaped what we see today and what we will see in the future. They are the heart of Star Wars ❤
Agreed. I love him and ewan completely equally as someone who watched the prequels before the clone wars movie came out when I was 9. James is amazing as is all the cast and I’m glad of one thing Disney is doing, which is still recognizing the voice actors for animation parts even when the live action characters are played by the OGs or new actors❤
Completely agree. And it's beautiful you told him that. I know he was kinda joking, but it also felt half serious. They really deserve to know how much they mean to some of us
@@jessicarainesart Hope they'll support the " Rebels " cast as much as they're doing with " The Clone Wars " cast now that their characters are about to become more popular!
@@Noone-qs5jt Yes, maybe if he was just joking I wouldn’t have felt this instinct to shout my love, but as you said there was a little bit of seriousness in his comment and I felt that too. In that moment I decided he should know that for some of us he is THE Obi-Wan Kenobi and that he is truly loved by the fandom in general, just as the rest of the cast ❤️
Lord knows their live action has been shaky thus far. For a lot of us I think the animated content are the only thing keeping star wars alive for us right now
@@camolive3727 I disagree heavily. I've absolutely loved the Bad Batch so far. I wasn't initially a fan of rebels animation style but it grew on me over time and from a story telling perspective I've loved that show as well. I stand by my statement, the animated shows are the only thing keeping star wars alive right now. The live action shows occasionally show promise and I have no doubt they'll eventually get back on track (for all I know maybe Ahsoka will be the show to do it) but for now I have little investment in anything new that's not animated besides the Mandalorian .
This panel was such a joy. Thank you Dave Filoni, Ashley Eckstein, and and all the wonderful creators of Clone Wars for giving us such special memories ❤
Ahsoka Tano and The Clone Wars changed the course of my life and helped me decide what kind of person I wanted to be and still aspire to be to this day. That is not an overstatement.
It's nice to see Dave get emotional about the work he's done and how it's affected people as well as himself when he often made fun of Ashley getting emotional about the work she's done, and even poked at the fans and how they react, all out of love of course, but still, it's nice to see the tables turned for a change. We're very grateful for the stuff that has come from Lucasfilm Animation, and I hope that we continue to get great show after great show because I have come to find that Star Wars really is at its best for me in animated television.
Clone Wars wasn't part of my childhood like some. I was in my 30's - 40's when Clone Wars was released on TV. I enjoyed every episode as an adult. I was 7 years old when I saw the movie Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. I've been a Star Wars fan ever since then. I got to see The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi when those movies were originally released in theaters in the 1980's. I was lucky to first see them that way.
Same here. I was 10 when Star Wars A New Hope came out and my sister and I were instant fans! We had the 8-track of the movie😆and would put it in and listen over and over again. My sister passed away in 2002 but I know she would still love all of these. I will watch Star Wars everything! We even named our cats after characters!
Friday nights in my house back in the day always included pizza, throwing homework to the side, hanging out with my family (all of whom are MASSIVE Star Wars fans), and watching the new Clone Wars episode while just talking about Star Wars in general during commercial breaks ... Good times. This was more than a show -- it was a phenomenon and a way of life for so many.
Hey, you know what would be cool? Season 7 on Blu-Ray. And Andor. And owning things again so I can watch them when I want to, not when Disney tells me I can, or when I have the high privilege of an Internet connection.
I already watched this when you live streamed it during Star Wars Celebration but I appreciate you uploading on the anniversary of the Clone Wars movie.
It's great that Clone Wars is getting so much love, just a shame that Lucasfilm chose this 15th anniversary to shut down the Singapore visual effects and animation studio that was the lead studio for Clone Wars. 300 animators and designers out of a job :(
New star wars animated series for Cody should make it in 2025 for 20th anniversary of revenge of the sith, but how come lucasfilm animation shut down? 😔
I'm vietnamese, i knew star war clone war when i was 9 years old, i watched star war clone war on cartoon network but at that time cartoon network didn't have translators so i didn't understand in the movie What does the character say? But what I like and admire the most is the clone trooper, they are cool, they have cool armor and helmets too. I'm 20 now and star war clone war is still the best series I've watched
La mejor serie animada de star wars sin duda, y el nacimiento de Ahsoka, el guion perfecto, dave filoni el padawan de george lucas todo perfecto Y el mismo George Lucas implicado❤
All legends!! I met Matthew Wood in 2007 such a funny talented guy!! Loved listening to him sing happy birthday to someone at Earl’s Court in General Greivous voice lol 😂 Would love to meet Dave Feloni!!
Im so glad athena got attention for all her hard work! Im embarrassed to say I hadn't heard of her before this video and that opens my eyes to the fact that theres so many amazing people that are responsible for one of my favorite shows that probably dont get the recognition they deserve. If any of them out there read this, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! The Clone Wars is and always will be one of the greatest animated stories ever created!
I think Plo Koon taught Ahsoka her hand to hand combat because we hardly see Anakin and Tano fight fist to fist the same. If only they could bring those final seasons to bluray. But I still watch the first movie.
This was a great panel discussion, really interesting! I hope we will get to see the Ashoka panel discussion at some point as well. Releasing that footage now would be a great way to increase the hype for the premiere, just sayin'.
I watched nearly every Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode live, Fridays and Saturdays (for S5) on Cartoon Network. What a journey this cartoon has undergone gone, from dismissed by the masses to becoming the centerpiece of Star Wars lore. Happy fifteenth TCW.
Dave Filoni is a co writer & co storyteller, and a director supervisor but he is a Creative Collaborator, not a sole creator of Star Wars tv shows or content in general. People took this man and made a god out of him because he played a heavy role in the storytelling department and supervising department but he is a collaborator at the end of the day who works well when teaming up with others. His best work will always be with George. Outside of George his flaws start to show more.
