@@exshadowkick5564 Anakin wasn't even conscious at that point when they traded. But I do agree that was the closest they came to each other before Episode 3.
I find it so funny because of the one line Anakin said in episode 3 about him being shorter than expected meant that they could not encounter in the clone wars. They did anything to make sure of it in the clone wars because it wouldn’t of made sense it episode 3
@@derrickstorm6976 yeah lots of inconsistencies in this show. Shield rules, the skill of clones, how deadly commando droids are. Lots of plot armor thrown around but I still love it
@@derrickstorm6976 the astroid field probably put a heavy strain on the shields if they even made it once they got out. They also probably put all the shield power torwards the front while going through the astroids too which is likely why Rex and his group instantly did damage from behind.
Wasn’t about revealing the flank, it was about drawing them into range of the flank (and the main guns), leading to a swift and decisive blow, in which they took out all cis vessels present with minimal losses
This was actually the second episode they produced. The first was the Battle of Teth part of the Clone Wars movie. Which probably explains why it looks pretty bad.
@@meephero5413 well I beat kenobi a few times beat and captured to powerful jedi council members eliminated the whole nightsister clan but I kinds agree with u unfortunately :(
+Hypnos Stratagem Assuming you're referring to Rebels, I'm pretty sure they toned down the damage in that show for the sake of plot Rebels is more of a kids show and therefore there isn't as much brutal action. If that scene had taken place in The Clone Wars, the AT-TE would've ripped right through it and vice versa
Yes. I am talking about the part from Rebels. They must have toned down the damage for some ludicrous reason. I do not think that it is because of the violence. The AT-AT walkers were soon brutally destroyed using neck shots in the next scene.
Actually, the reason AT-AT's were impervious to the ATTE's fire was because it had extremely think armour and deflector shields. Grievous ordered the deflector shields to be rerouted to the front of his flagship. In this case his rear flank was unprotected. ATTE's can easily rip through his flagship when it has no shields.
+Hypnos Stratagem Perhaps after years of no use the shells have degraded? IRL artillery shells must be replaced after a decade at most. Its possible that the shells that they used did much less damage than supposed to.
Desmond Ng That is possible. It should be noted that the AT-TE uses a rail gun that would propel even degraded shells at very high speeds. I do not think that the destructive power of the AT-TE main gun lies with the shells as much as the gun itself.
CordlessJet Not really. Venator star destroyers arent made to be mobile fortresses like star destroyers are. Their main points of use is reconnasaince, troop deployment, and fire support. A munificent class is 300 meters shorter in length than a venator and has plenty of firepower. If six of them start volleying on one vsd, it will go down. Its turbolasers after all
@@savage7882 still, the munificent cruisers had all power to the forward shields so how could one shot of a venetor or 4 /5 shots of anakins ship destroy an entire ship. And where are all these AT-TE and fighters coming from? Never in this series had a venetor more than 15 fighters or 5 AT-TE's
grievous put all power to the front shields, leaving the aft and belly completely unprotected. The republic cruisers did not fire because their accuracy is somewhat questionable and they may have hit their own outflanking party. The AT-TE could fire on the completely unprotected hull (a ship without shields is as vulnerable as a TIE).
More than the animation, I feel like the music improved so much. sometimes we got these beats in the early season that I liked but didnt feel distinctly star wars and sometimes made me feel like I was in another property. They are so good with the music now that I almost dont notice but when I do im really enjoying it
Also the shot at 3:45 is unfinished too look the canon is not realistic at all it looks like a thing from a game relesead on early 2000s and the laser is so uncivilized its looks so weird and the smoke effect looks bad too
Grievous: "Get us out of here!" Battle droid commander: "Uh.. where are we supposed to go? Grievous:"Arghh!" Battle droid commander: "Uhh... General?... Well.. i guess i'm in charge now." HOW HILARIOUS xD
1. Grievohs wanted to revel in his own genius strategy by explaining it aloud. 2. The droids questions were legitimately reasonable while also not being overly whiney. Instead of wrought out of bumbling incompetence like usual
3:03 that line had me shouting for joy when I first watched this at 10 years old when the episode had just recently came out. I was able to forget about order 66 completely during this moment as I saw how it was meant to be. Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex, and the other clones all united to be my heroes.
Why are the ships starts falling when they got hit? (3:18) Shouldn't they just keep moving until another force does not acts on it? (physics?) I know there is the planet's gravity the they are far enough from that. You know guys: An object that is in motion will not change its velocity unless a force acts upon it.
@@Сайтамен if the planet is not enough neither are the asteroids. I mean the other ships in the fleet should influence the ship too but it‘s Star Wars who cares about the laws of physics
‘Far larger than anything they are designed to fight’ The weaponry is generally the same as a ship, and take the ISD for example, it isn’t structurally stable enough to actually land, almost not even hover in atmosphere A tank killing a zeppelin, just because it’s big, doesn’t mean it’s strong
To be fair, AT-TEs were originally a mining tool, used in the exact same method as they were in this episode for mining aesteroids. In a way, it's kind of like returning to form, or home in a way. It's what they were originally built to do.
I believe it is due to then being capitol ships. However your are Right as they should have some lighter vessels as screens. But it’s early in TCW so I’ll give it a pass
It would have been really funny and awkward if the droids had a better look at the asteroids and saw the walkers rotating slowly and out of range, like the ones in the background 3:43
The music used in this scene is a remaking of the song "Collision Course" by Anthony DiLorenzo, most commonly known for being used in the animated show "Megas XLR" for the main villain's theme. Interesting they decided to use it in this series...
Imagine if there weren't any AT-TEs involved. This battle might have gone differently, since Grievous had the upperhand from the beginning. Still not sure why he didn't fire all the turbolasers and just the heavy ones, since six Munificents together are powerful enough to take out a single Venator
Even though season 1 was kinda kiddy and weak, I really enjoyed some of the tactics they showed the armies using. Anakin using the AT-TEs to outflank the Separatist ships in an asteroid field is frankly brilliant.
I think of all the “the animation is laughably unfinished” statements to be made about the first season of clone wars, this one takes the cake. It looks like a video game Lucasfilm games only had four months to make.
It appears ship shielding is non existent in this episode, I've seen it other times throughout the Clone Wars series. Grievous literally says "Divert power to the forward shields" lol and then Anakin just blows up the bridges of the Separatist Frigates. 🤦♂️
@@brodyking7095 figure out from context that I’m not LITERALLY asking what the music is called, I’m just trying to point out that the music was terribly in that scene. You’re the fucking idiot that took five months to reply, and still didn’t understand what I originally said.
@@fordifying227 Yeah, the music is terrible. Sure thing, kid. I think you only suspect it to be classical music, but when you’re with Dave Filoni, you should expect this. Go somewhere where your opinion matters, fucking rat.
Who would win? Separatist frigates designed for ship to ship combat with heavy armor and superior firepower Or a group of walky bois on a floating rock
I like how the old Empire had the same ship design as the Republic, and the Old Republic as the Separatists. Then they'll switch it back when the new Epire is formed. :)
in the military you still adress a female that outranks you as sir. like janeway on star trek voyager who dident like it and insited to be called captain.
This fight is Anakin at his best: confident, caring, amazing pilot, super intelligent, and a little impulsive but not completely off the rails like he is sometimes
Did anyone else notice how weird the music and animation was in this episode? The strange rhythmic high hat music rather than the normal orchestral. The brightness of the animation and the isolated plasma bolt hits? Or is it just me 😅
I could be wrong here but I believe this was the first episode the clone wars team actually made before even making the movie I’ve heard a lot of people say this and that they did it as a test Which is why the lighting looks horrible in some frames
they're notoriously under armored in canon. In fact, the only place they actually have any specialized armor is in the bow. AT-TE's got shots at the underbelly and wings of the ship, which are much less armored, and have many of the batteries of the ship (causing chain reactions)
This is one reason why I never really liked general grievous. He never looked at the battle as a whole, and always lacked imagination. And when the going got tough, he got going.
