Shadows of the Empire was one of the first Star Wars books I fell in love with. In this character highlight we take a closer look at who is Dash Rendar. I love how he seemingly bails more than once, and in the height of action, throughout the "Shadows of the Empire" comics - only for us to find out he's doing lots of important stuff during the tie-in videogame taking place simultaneously!

You're right. I have to brush up on the full story but SOTE is best experienced as the whole package, not just the book.

It was a hell of a ride. The early Bantam and latter DEL REY books captured the Star Wars signature tone flawlessly!

Ive always loved Dash and the Shadows of the Empire story. The Outrider is canon, Prince Xisor has recently entered canon thanks to a comic book...its WAY past time to throw Dash in. He could either be in Bad Batch season 3 when he's leaving the academy or he could do very well in live action in the Mandoverse. Either way, he deserves to canonized.

Glad to hear Xisor is back. But frankly I don't need the legacy to exist in modern canon to fully enjoy them. They work perfectly well within their own stories.

@@starwarstimeline I agree. The original story of Shadows wont ever be canon under Disney due to the interactions of Xisor and Leia. They wouldnt allow Leia to be portrayed in that manor, however, having the characters recognized and made canon and new stories with them would be great.

Oh man was I pumped when I got this notification!! I remember the first time I saw him was when I got the action figure from the shadow of the empire series back in the day ( which I still have and am working on collecting them unopened ). I didn't know much about him except that he looked like a heroic dude who had a badass name. It wasn't until later on when I was older that I learned about the novel and such ( which is in my top 10 list of best SW books ). I appreciate you doing a character video on him and I totally would love to see him brought back and in an animated series would be perfect. I'm currently rewatching the Bad Batch to get primed up for season 2. As always my brother keep up the fantastic work 👍 #heartofjedi

Oh, you nailed it brother. Dash totally oozes that signature 90's pure testosterone, unapologetic meat-head, chisel-jawed badass archetype!! We need to get more of the stort in new Star Wars. LoL

Thanks for the awesome deep dive on one of my favorite characters. Shadows of the Empire was the first EU sorta project I ever experienced. He needs to be brought into canon!

Haha, yeah man. I still haven't touched the game. It's not reading the Xbox controller on steam so I might as well wait for a Switch port.

He is probably one of the most recognizable characters from the Star Wars EU. But it's no shame if you haven't heared of him! This is why I make these types of videos, to introduced fans as much as I can. Trust me there are TONS of characters I don't know about. LoL It's such a vast universe.

Oh man, that would be fantastic. I think modern PC pop culture is suffering from unapologetic badass characters. We've become so hypersensitive to everything. Sometimes it's ok to have your damsel in distress saved by a traditional hero. Nothing wrong with that.
