@@badsamaritan8223 Well whatever gives you the numbers. Like russian prisoners, murderers, thiefs and rapists. After they die in ukraine they are called "heroes of russia".
@@badsamaritan8223 space navy space marines, also the joining the marines used to be an option instead of prison, depending on the crime. Plus marines like to partake in activities that can get them put in jail.
@@badsamaritan8223 They called them Marines because Aliens called its alien-fighting soldiers Marines. Starcraft's universe is largely comprised of sci fi tropes and shoutouts stitched together into a coherent original setting (much like Warhammer 40,000). I say this from a place of absolute love, because that is how a lot of the most successful franchises of that era came about. (and also if we're being 100% Nerds about it they're not all convicts and conscripts, some Terran forces use volunteers and professionals instead)
After the relatively recent news on Bliz, I feel like they lost understanding of a lot of things..... like laws, basic human decency, the Geneva Conventions, how breast milk is meant for babies, etc.....
Could be some soldiers from the UED that got left behind when they retreated from the Koprulu Sector and got folded into the Dominion's own military. And there are soldiers from the UED that did get left behind, since that's in the description for one of the mercenary squads you can hire in Wings of Liberty.
The Kropulu sector was settled by a bunch of undesirables the world government kicked off of Earth, it would make sense thst it was red state people lol.
@@WalknTalknStevnHawknPlus they used to be part of the Confederate. So of course many of them have some cowboy sound plus even little Jimmy right there.
@@ZCasavant Yeah, an MMO or multiplayer like Aliens vs Predator, only here you'll have Terrans (Marines), Zerg (Aliens) and the Protoss (Predator), so a reskin of a very old game. Good games with actual good plots are in low supply or even demand if it goes for the AAA games nowadays. There will be no Starcraft TPS, R* and everyone else learned its lesson on Max Payne 3, everybody now does games which are sure to sell, nothing innovative and it is the future.
Marine: Medic! Firebat: We didn't buy the Brood War Expansion yet. Other Marine: Are you telling me that I have to live the rest of my life with a parasite?
Christ thisc cinematic was so fucking hype and exciting for every diehard starcraft fan at that point. I've seen this dozens of times and I still get shivers down my spine!
In an alternate universe, wearing the power armor means your death will be gruesome, as your 'brothers' will say something like "Only in death our duty ends!"
Honestly, it's not that far off. We already have working powered exoskeletal suits. The issue is just power, since those suits have a cord that plugs in a power source. We do have smaller more bare bones one that are more weight reduction suit than anything, and they can last quite a few hours to a few days on battery power. Can carry like 160kgs with them on and feel like your carrying a feather. But against, power is the biggest issue (and money of course, they ain't cheap haha).
@@Luis-be9mi the place was called a vespine refinery. This was from a time when terrazine didn’t even exist yet in StarCraft lore up until SC2, when it was first mentioned by Gabriel Tosh. Terrazine itself won’t make an appearance until LotV when you encounter Alarak.
@@huydang5955 actually if you watch footage of the beta builds of ghost they mention Terrazine as a plot point several times. If they were to fix up this cutscene before release I imagine they might have relabeled it as a terrazine refinery.
@@deatlilies7927 maybe they intended to keep it a secret until later in the game? Like Nova wondering how odd it was that a vespene gas refinery was harvesting something that don’t look like vespene?
nothing they could do honestly. the real blizzard was dead at that point as most of the core team had left for better jobs. at this point it was just a bunch of random kids fresh out of their first year in college, and a bare handful of real blizzard employees.
Starship Troopers Scenario + Starcraft 1 Cinematic Character and Design and... Whatever Graphic~ (ex: This movie) + Bllizard Cinematic team = Awesome Movie
Dude just wanna say those pilots where having hella fun up the skyline. Even when the Zerg showed up. That said love how the marines get showed up by nova. Also the cammander had decent perception. Who knew the sounds of heavy movement he just wished it was siege tanks
That's the omega symbol. Omega Squadron also known as the Death Head's legion. Hence why they also have the Skull and Cross Bones insignia on their armor.
I was never born in the times of Starcraft 1, but when I saw it, I actually preferred the tone and atmosphere over the newer games. It just gives off a more unique vibe to the whole universe than what we got with SC2.
A single Zergling can rip though Marine armour at a decent rate, the bigger issue is said Zergling getting to the marine. If they can ambush them its purely based on the experience of the marine in CQC. Marines excel at long range fire, hell they can even use the power motors and joints locked up and do kilometre long shots, and the marines weapons can rip though a Zergling quite easily. That's why the Zerg would send 10-1 ratios of zerglings at minimum, if not more.
@@stevenborchert6551 Zerglings are all about quantity being a quality in itself. The lore ratios of zergling to marines in winning engagements in favor of zerg are way above the game balance.
@@rafaelfarias4359 Well yes, that's why I said in the latter half the ratio is like 10-1 at minimum, but just because they do favour Quantity over Quality, the Zerglings are by no means weak themselves. They just happen to go up against stuff that can rip them apart. Put them up against Modern Day forces and the Zergling would rip though them quite easily, even tank armour would barely slow them down. The marine gauss spikes are hilariously massive compared to modern day rounds, and are fired at speed's we're only just learning how to do now. Just like a M4, SCAR or any other current assault rifle would have incredible amounts of trouble, if they even can, of getting though the amour of the Marines power suit.
@@stevenborchert6551 Looking at the original SC1 design of the zergling (or failing that, the StarCraft Remastered design), their front limbs have _wicked_ long blade comparable to a Hydralisk's arms, unlike the weird short claws in their Ghost design. Even SC2 gives them sickle-claws instead of pointy toes.
@@syweb2 Exactly, and those claws are edge in diamond like composites, making them incredibly strong to. It's why I said they could probably rip apart modern tank armour with ease. It really goes to show that if the zerg ever came, they' shred us like no ones business.
@jylETZ The purpe light it's terrazine gas, the geiser start pumping terrazine out and the refinery couldn't hold it, that's why it exploted, the zergs "feel" the terrazine and they camp the nearest they could srry if my english it's way too broken i hope it's understandable :P
Damn...I found this clip a decade or so ago, and couldn't understand shit, cause I'm Vietnamese. Now I found it again, understood everything and stumbled on your comment. How nostalgic
I'll chip in and say that I prefer this power armor design to SC2's one. I always liked old SC power armor more, but this is a very good rendition, it's heavy, bulky, frankly a bit ridiculous and definitely stylized. Love how angular it is in all the right places while SC2's one is just... fukkn round everywhere, like those modern OS rounded icons.
My childhood wasted on anticipation for a game that got canceled, picked up, canceled again, picked up again, and then finally dead and buried. But this trailer, every time, reminds me WHY we need more starcraft games. The idea was so great: spot for siege tanks, call in nukes, request orbital bombard, clear LZ's for reinforcements, and finally sneaking around espionage and sabotage on enemy fortifications. It was going to have pvp with races. But nope, now my hope is they make a top down rpg like diablo for starcraft or something cause if they don't figure out a new story to write for a 3rd installment. This series is gone.
Lore explains they experimented with weaponry on dropships for self defense, but opted against it for higher payload capacity. But apparently something that wasn't adapted into the game was the ability of passengers to fire from side doors or platforms mounted on the undercarriage.
@@erikestrada7470 and suddenly Emporer Mengsk retrofitted some shenanigans that allow Siege tanks to fire from a dropship while in siege mode. I call bs
@@pataponnabil Well I'm just speaking in terms of why the manufacturers originally opted against including weaponry in the standard model of the Quantradyne APOD-33 Dropship, which was still the primary active infantry transport used at the time this was supposed to take place, and that was in favor of the space and weight saved without it. Customization options were available and there were many cases of commanders/crew retrofitting standard models of Dropship (among other equipment) to suit what they deemed more valuable. Interestingly enough, during the Brood War, upon learning that 37 percent of field deployed troops became casualties which required evacuation to the rear, Arcturus Mengsk himself ordered a redesign to the Quantradyne that would allow it to be capable of medical transport and evacuation in hot zones. This directly lead to the development of the G-226 medical transport, colloquially referred to as the Medivac we know today. (Sorry I know I'm a nerd but outside of actually reading the comics myself SC is my favorite lore)
I know its just a cut scene for fun but I am incredulous that when going up against the most fearsome threat the galaxy has faced, that killed billions, even a captain wouldnt exercise a little more caution. Wouldnt catch me advancing on a zerg position with nothing but marines assuming they just "ran away". Fun cut scene though. Well designed.
@@restlessfrager Uh. I don't want to be mean, but really? 2 was basically a reboot. I liked the vibe of the earlier games. Step back, take a breath and assume there's something that does make sense.
Twenty years ago, in a moment of madness, some genius blew the entire game budget on this promising trailer. Twenty years later I am no longer sure Blizzard has the genius to deliver what they promised, even with a mad budget.
I remember reading Nova, the novel like more than 15 years ago. Man, the NOVA cussing was hilarious but if I would ever call something cringe, that was it.

Imagine going back to 2002 or whatever and telling everyone there'd be an "Overwatch 2" before StarCraft: Ghost came out. "The fuck is Overwatch?" "A game that won't come for another 14 years."
How has everyone in the comments not noticed that Nova Covert Ops was the recreation of Ghosts. They aren't gonna do another because Covert Ops is pretty much what they had in mind, Nova being the main character and all.
