StarCraft: Remastered - MEET JIM RAYNOR! 

I played this at my cousins house when I was 8 or 9 years old. The Zerg were absolutely terrifying to me then. I used to have empathy for my Marines and tried my absolute best to make sure they didn't die. The nostalga is real..

Starcraft (at least the boxed edition) had a pretty big manual that had the lore to each race and all of their buildings and units.

Just telling you now in case we all forget later, there's a secret Zerg Mission in Brood Wars. You unlock it by completing the 9th Zerg Mission (of Brood War) "The Reckoning" less than 25 minutes. Looking forward to this!

What I really liked in SC1 campaign, you don't play another role, like playing Raynor himself. You are the magistrate, the executor, or the Cerebrate, they talk to you and you manage thru the Command Center.

little trivia James Raynor voice actor in SC1 and SC2 are the same person. oh and also Mengsk as well. Tips SC1 don't have Medics so be careful with infantry units, Mech units on the other hand can be repair by SCV.

I am so excited to watch you play through this campaign, I've played through it back in like 2005-7 and it made me the gamer i am today. I am so excited for this, i've been waiting for this for a long time

One tip I want to share with you Lowko: In Original and Broodwar Campaign, the AI cheats resources via trigger "If X resource drops below Y value, then +1000 to X resource." so there's no point in harassing mineral/gas line in campaign as they cannot run out of them. If you're going to attack, always go for complete annihilation of target base. And be quick, as the only reason why the AI still bother to mine their base is to deny you of mineral and gas there. Custom / Multiplayer game AI don't have this cheat however and can run out of resource when you killed their workers.

The nostalgia hits right into my heart. Love it Lowko.

The big problem with pathfinding in Starcraft 1 is that, even when an army is moving, each unit tries to make its own pathfinding, which is regularly updated, but still, it's very easy for them to block each other. In Starcraft 2 the entire army calculates a global pathfinding, which allows for a consistent and efficient move for every unit in the army.

Man, I remember this game.. Gonna be good seeing someone else playing it since I can't afford it at the moment. Definitely subscribed for this!

Hey Lowko, here's a recommendation for ya, without spoilers: In SC2, all units/buildings have these specific tags, like 'armored', 'light', 'mechanical' and so on, effecting the amount of damage received by several multipliers, stated on unit weapons. Although there seems to be no similar tags on SC1 units, there are 'hidden' damage mutators; Units are divided in 3 categories: light, medium and large. -light ones are terran infantry, zerglings, observers and all worker units -medium ones are zealots, hydralisks, vultures, several small flyers (and maybe goliaths, not sure) -large ones are tanks, dragoons, ultralisks, big flyers (battlecruisers and carriers) and all buildings Damage types are also divided in 3 different categories: -normal (melee attacks, marines, battlecruisers...) which do 100% damage to everything (before, of course, damage reduction from armor) -explosive (tanks, hydralisks, dragoons...) which do 100% damage vs large units, 75% vs medium and 50% vs small -concussive (firebats, vultures and ghosts) which do 100% damage vs small units, 50% vs medium and 25% vs large So, for example, a vulture has a base attack of 20, but vs buildings (concussive vs large is 25%) they only deal 5, minus the basic 1 armor that buildings have, is 4 damage per shot

Man, the nostalgia hit me a lot harder than I expected, especially when I heard Duke's voice. I remember that heavy southern accent so well and memories just keep flooding back to me. I remember that my favorite campaign part was the protoss, but now that I look back on it, I'm sure that I would say the zerg campaign is my favorite nowadays. I'm glad you're playing this and I know you'll end up loving just about every moment of it.

The original game did come with a book. It contained unit specs and back story. The back story is pretty straight forward for the Terrans. Three prison ships launched from Earth crash land and become the first three colonies of Moria, Tarsonis, and Umoja. They all make contact, colonize further into the sector, and eventually fight over who should have control of the most profitable planets. The Confederates beat out the Kel-Morians in the guild wars and became top dogs. It was around this time that other planets in the sector, such as Korhal, revolted for sovereign independence and were mercilessly crushed by the Confederates. Basically, at the point where this game starts, they didn't have many friends but plenty of people hated.

Slowly but surely we will get Lowko to go protoss and become the protoss/zerg/terran master race with the power to nibble away at an scv and drones mind with mind control. As long as lowko doesn't end up falling, With the power of all three races I believe lowko can save the world.

Good on there Lowko, put the cc closer :)), i only did that when i got some playtime in this game, they should have mentioned it in the tutorial. So glad this game gets some attention again...

Lowko when going up a ramp if you have a lot of units it's a good idea to Move command the ones at the front and attack move the ones at the back to get around the pathing - providing everything's not getting completely slaughtered of course

I preordered SC: remastered one day before it released haha and I am happy as hell I bought it. This game was a big part of my childhood so I didn´t hesitate to buy it. And still it was 14,99 euros which was not that much (price surprised me). I suck at this game but love it as hell (just as Starcraft 2) and I only play the campaign. Good luck Lowko.

Please keep going on these. I loved the original campaigns. Can't wait till you play the Terran one where it's starts off in bottom left and you get nuked at the start. I hated it because of how hard I found it but also loved it when I completed it cause you really feel like you accomplished something.

Hi Lowko! Looking forward to the next parts of the playthrough. One note which you may find useful - hit "+' on your keyboard a few times at the start of the game to increase the game speed to Fastest (equal to how MP is played) - otherwise you will have a lot of downtime. (didn't watch full vid yet, so sorry if that was done already :D)

Pst, a little tip - the pathing is horrible, but only if you attack move. If you give the move command, then attack move, then the move command again, the stutterstep is going to be great in SC1. Love the new series!

The last mission of the Terran campaign, Original SC, was a pain for me. Previous missions, you could win with horrible macro. I eventually learned that upgrades, unit comp, and big armies are important.

The Manual for this game was amazing. Absolutely loved the artwork that was done by Metzen in it. It had character and was thick. Same with the Warcraft 3 manual and World of Warcraft Manuals. Just well made and detailed. Pretty sure I still have the manual lying around somewhere.

Sc1 campaign is long fun and never gets old, maybe about 50 hours for brood war included

Watching these videos is absolutely awesome and im glad you did this. What is killing me though, is you can right click your control groups on another unit in another group. You can click all 4 control groups on one Hydralisk, or (preferably your strongest unit in the middle or tail end of another group) Then simply guide that unit around and they will follow. Although it stil does not make it easier to move derpy units up ramps. But you can move your entire army a lot easier. Take that unit to the far point in the enemy base and protect it the most. *Not that I dare give a pro gamer tips! **this is for everyone else ;) Cheers! Enjoying your shows from Saskatchewan!

The Chau Sara Incident was covered in the Starcraft 1 Demo back in '98. In a nutshell the Confedercy experiments with some tech and lures in the Zerg.

reminds me of the first missions in warcraft 2: build farms, build baracks, build some warriors, finish (so, build 4 buildings and gather some gas is the same difficulty). Many old strategy games have a learn mission of only build some things.

i was just 6 years old when i started starcraft. I loved every single bit of it. and oh. pentium days

As for the story before the Terran campaign, there's SC1 demo. Basically it explains what happened on Chau Sara (mentioned in the opening cutscene). There's also a downloadable custom campaign by Blizzard called Precursor that basically tells the same story with 1 or 2 more missions. UPD: And the Zerg are called 'xenomorphs' there, go figure. )))

Oh yeah I used to love that the boxes for video games had a good paragraph describing the story and the game to you. Now the game boxes don't really tell you anything. The games also had some pretty cool instruction manuals that would tell you more of the story, controls, and most if not all the items in the game were shown and sometimes given a brief description of what they did.

You need to see how classic Raynor looked like!

dont skip the boring stuff i takes back alot of ppl like me and my brother he use to love playing brood wars and i would watch him and learn at the time he was a high ranked player and doesnt play anymore but when i watch you play it reminds me of him when we would still get along

The campaign in the demo/shareware version of Starcraft I is essentially Episode 0, the prequel to this campaign (Episode 1).

Actually, now I remember that I played a "demo" mission before the game was released, it was a terran mission and you had SCVs, marines and tanks. It was in a CD from a computer magazine, never found this mission again.
