Starfield 50 Hours In | First Impressions

Bethesda were incredibly hands off in this, they simple provided a code for the game and said I could make whatever video I wanted on Starfield, I wanted to have a run done only using the Cutter but as I said in the video I hadn't even beaten the game casually yet lol. It's an oddly surreal feeling to even be considered for something like this, and I have all of you to thank for helping get the channel to the size it is now so that we can have these opportunities. who knows maybe this means we will get review codes for Elder Scrolls 6 & Fallout 5 whenever those release, we can but dream 👀 I have one more shorter video out next week, then Skyrim Lincoln & then hopefully The Cutter Only Starfield Run. My favorite Bethesda moment from this game so far is joining the Crimson Fleet, actively robbing people, then having a random guard on New Atlantis thank me for making the system safer and he gives me 1800 credits saying I deserve it.

Honestly my favorite thing is that they integrated some of the perks you take into dialog, makes me feel like I’m really gaining knowledge.

Fun fact, the reason why there's so much clutter is because bethesda hired the modder elienora, who primarily makes house mods that have a lot of clutter in them to make them feel lived in, specifically to do clutter and lighting for the areas.

At this point I will begin the wait until the inevitable "Can you beat Starfield as Abraham Lincoln?" Not gonna lie I think I'm more excited for that than Starfield itself. Thank you the years of entertainment Nerbit and congratulations on the success well earned.

Mothership Zeta: Remastered

All I'm saying is, in the future, none of us would mind a five hour video playthrough.

Not sure if you’ve come across this since you usually go with melee weapons but when you’re in zero gravity weapon recoil will actually push you back depending on the caliber you fire. It’s a really cool detail which makes zero G combat (as rare as it may be) super interesting. Now, as soon as I experienced this in the game I thought of a challenge run where movement is only allowed via weapon recoil. Obviously this would require a mod enabling zero G everywhere but it’s a neat idea.

The only bug i experienced was also extremely funny, minor game spoilers there's a quest where you're on a mission with Sam Coe and his ex, a bunch of ships land, drop off enemies to fight, and take off, Sam somehow got stuck standing on the thruster of a ship as it took off and it was just so funny watching him ascend into the sky and afterwards you speak to his ex but I could only hear her part of the conversation because Sam was still in the sky about 30 miled away, but his ex and my character was responding like he was still standing next to us, it gave me this very funny imagine of them yelling at eachother across the planet because they don't want see eachother up close

23 hours in so far, only bought it 2 days ago. I think it's safe to say I like it.

Yeah Starfield is a ton of fun, I’m not a fan of the whole “outpost” thing but other than that I’m loving the whole experience it’s my favourite Bethesda thing without a doubt, I keep getting sidetracked too so much to do so many quests, shipbuilding, exploration I love it.

Glad to see you’re liking it, genuinely this video might break my “I don’t like sci-fi RPG games” curse. Listening to you talk about how much fun you’re having is wayyyyyyy better of a sell then “With over 3000 planets to explore and 1 million weapon combinations,” will ever be.

Can you beat starfield as Abraham Lincoln?

So far my favorite quest has been the UC Vanguard quest line (I’m level 36 but I don’t think I’ve come close to seeing everything yet - currently exploring the Riyujin quest line) I play on Series S. The game runs fine 90% of the time, but it crashes or freezes at least once each day that I play. Typically it happens in New Atlantis or when pausing during combat. I can tell when the game is going to crash or freeze when I’m looking at planets in the map and they aren’t fully rendered

Beat the main story last night after about 53 hours. Did about 3 LONG side quests which were written well, had interesting outcomes as a character that relied mostly on persuasion and stealth. I think i completed an entire sidequest chain without killing anyone bc i passed like 8 or 9 speech checks. Which I feel hasnt been in many bethesda games, especially considering what was at stake and who I was dealing with in these quests, (no save scumming either for the checks). The ending of the game was honestly exceptional and I saved beforehand to see both "endings" I would have. Also the NG feature is stellar and honestly makes the replayability for this game enjoyable, but for now im gonnna reload my save and finish some more sidequests and events.

Once you're past the intro section of the game, it's an absolute blast to play, and i love it

I started playing it the moment it released on gamepass and I am far more satisfied with it than i expected. Following Fallout 4 (which I love) and Fallout 76 (which I tolerate) I was fairly worried about if the giant scope of the game would be too overwhelming but I have loved every moment I've sank in to my 32 hour playthrough so far. Great review it's so nice hearing your opinions on the games you play outside of challenge runs!

A "Kid stuff" is an absolute must have. Having parents is actually pretty nice (who would have thought). Jokes aside, this trait allows you to acquire a lot of things. Warning: very minor non story spoilers. Not only dad will give you a 1911, but he will also give you an entire ship a bit later. And not half bad one either. Plus your mom will give you a suite of marine armour, which at the beginning is also pretty solid. And your parents will be present during your initiation in the Lodge. And considering that it takes only 3% of your credits once a week, it's pretty much the only trait without serious downsides. You can even stop sending your parents money, if you have a black hole instead of a soul.

Biggest complaint I have is that you can’t strip a corpse of its whole inventory anymore. That’s something that I hated about Cyberpunk 2077 too. Murdering people to steal their outfit is an RPG staple for me. Not at all game-ruining it’s just a big pet peeve of mine.

Can you beat starfield with only old earth weapons and only earth items

The only thing stopping me from getting Starfield rn is the $70 price tag which is a bit much for me as I recently lost my job. But the moment it goes on sale I am absolutely picking it up. I was a bit hesitant at first, but after wayching tjis video I think my opinions are solidifed at this point.

I've just been hearing so much good stuff about this game. I honestly completely forgot about it up until release, but with what people are saying, I might grab it sometime, when I have the money to spare

I've tried it, but can't find any interest in almost anything, and the most interest parts to me are locked behind a bunch of levelling and resource grinding :/ But the gunplay is cool

Originally I wasn't all that interested in this game, but the more clips I've seen the more that interest has grown. I think this video finally pushed me over the edge and I'll be adding it to my wishlist

60 hours in 6 days. Game is good to say the least. Finished the main quest, 2 out of 4 faction quests and countless side quests. It is a RPG, so character perks and skills should (and did) have more impact than player skills. And I am happy to see that. To those complaining about unsatisfying combat and intentional padding, will you complain your barbarian cannot do magic well in Skyrim or DnD? Exactly.

Our first impressions are very similar. I've been watching you a couple years now, and loved the challenge runs, so please make some for this game. I can't wait for the "Can you beat Starfield with only the Magazine Extended Combat Knife" run!

ill say with confidence it exceeded my expectations. Being a day 1 fallout 76 players im not sure thats an achievement but i do really like it. It runs great on my cheap (comparatively) gaming laptop too so im happy with that. i still havent touched the main story. maybe ill get there one day. happy to see you like it. i wonder what the dlc will be?

There are people that say 60fps is unplayable. I’m convinced people that complain about console FPS are just insecure about their purchase. I’m sure 120+ fps does look better, but that doesn’t make lower FPS unplayable.

One of the best features in starfeild is that you can pick up and move all dropped items in build mode

Ayo nerbit. Question. When doing the ship builder you only need credits right? You don’t have to have the upgraded pilot perk that increases the reactor classes you can fly?

Thoughts on the UI? I've heard plenty of complaints about it.

before id even met constellation i was halfway through the uc vanguard storyline because i saw the MAST building and decided to put aside all my responsibilities to check it out

It's amazing you enjoy the game, I myself made 3 Characters 2 very short ones and one big one...I have like 3 days play time but something that really Starts to confuse me is that Blue Bar under the healthbar, I saw it plenty on YT but I have no idea what it is...any help?

While there are certainly things I don't care for in this game, it is overall one of Bethesda's best games ever imho. The game keeps surprising me with fun quests and cool features. Obviously its a Bethesda game, so it can be janky at times, but so far I've only encountered one game breaking bug (which admittedly is preventing me from doing a quest that I really want to do, so that's annoying) and very few minor bugs.

I am really loving it ❤ However, similar to you being about fifty hours in I keep getting side tracked and I am technically only now doing the first major quest 😂 Honestly, my only gripes at the moment are some odd contrast issues and more subtitle size choices 😊 Lord knows when I will actually finish my first run through as I'm being very thorough 😂 I also took the Adoring Fan because, Oblivion ❤

Close to 50 hours myself (should be there by the weekend). Thanks for this feedback! It's been a learning experience for me. What I'm doing now is trying to complete the main quest only so I can look into mods, start a new character, used what I've learned, and try a couple of different things and see how the game differs.

I watched the video to support you Nerbit and help feed the ravenous algorithm. Honestly I don't care about starfield, at least until I get some cash and upgrade my "new" pc which I had dropped $800 on last year so ... yeah that won't be for quite awhile. Lol. Anyway ... enjoy man, it's well deserved.

I'm still undecided about this game. I've seen this game get both glowing reviews and I've also seen this game get absolutely torn to shreds. I don't know which reviews are more accurate. Any advice?

I'd rather play 76000 hours of the game that shall not be mentioned, than playing one single minute of Starfield.

honestly seeing on twitter that you were enjoying it was the only thing that made me reconsider and actually give it a try, and honestly its fine enough that i dont regret my purchase, but there are some GLARING issues with the game beyond even the meme critiques

The main improvement was the use of the havok physics engine. Halo 1 used havok physics engine. Grenade/rocket jump unconfirmed

Do the mantis quest when you're early game. The spacesuit and ship you get are OP early on and you get unique interactions when flying the ship

where is that monster quest found that has you scaring tourist? i've played literally almost 80 hours on 2 different characters and i haven't seen it yet. i had no idea that was there

I feel like they doubled down on being a lootershooter / shoddy base builder and pretty much gutted the rpg elements in favor of that. You can join every single faction in a single playthrough because there is no faction reputation system like fnv and none of the factions effect the ending in any way. Also the melee combat is just utterly atrocious, 9 weapons total including uniques, ZERO weapon modifications, 1 associated skill point and no moves besides your strong attack. I didn't have any desire to explore the planets because it was just generic fallout 4 dungeons IF you're lucky, but most of the time there was nothing there. And you know how when you walk through one of the cities and get bombarded with sidequests? Yeah... those 'sidequests' if you can call them that are just "talk to npc 1", "run over here/fly to this planet and collect item" , "go back and talk to npc 1 again". If you decide to do sidequests you could spend hours at a time not experiencing any combat whatsoever and mostly just fast traveling to random places and talking to cardboard npcs. Also, why did they have a bounty/contraband system if every single companion in the game dislikes/leaves if you break the law? what were they thinking?

Would it be worth the money to buy? I dont have gamepass but I like what ive seen so far

There is a bug i encountered where after customizing my ship and was told everything was moved to the cargo hold instead everything i had in the armory disappeared. I was very early game and didn’t lose anything great but it still sucked.

Got about 60 hours and finished the story the other day. All I’ll say is it’s clear some things were either not ready or were planned to be dlc. A few plot points just go nowhere at the moment. Honestly this just makes me really excited to see what TES 6 is going to look like.

I just reached 60 hours on my Series S. Loving the game. Only had one glitch that prevented me from firing weapons on planet and happened immediately after obtaining power from the Temples. I have frame drops on occasion when first entering large cities, and for some odd reason Akila City constantly makes my game crash. In fact, it's the only area my game has crashed.

I can already see the titles of Starfield runs and I can’t wait to see them come out

I’m stuck on the final crimson fleet mission because my ship wasn’t good enough so I’ve gone through like 3 or 4 storylines of stuff so I could improve my ship and lvl up😭 it’s been super fun but I’ve gotten so far off the route I was taking I’m at a point where I just keep doing stuff instead of going and doing the actual mission 😂 I even spent an hour doing stuff to make sure I could move around contraband

For me it was a huge revaluation when I discovered that the planets actually move and you can watch the clouds move if the planet has an atmosphere. The only complaint I have with the game is during location transitions. I wish it would stay in first-person view when taking off and landing to add to the immersion. Also it's kind of annoying how when you travel to a location it just places you on the ground outside of your ship with no transition. I like to manually remove my spacesuit when I'm on my ship. When I travel somewhere the game will just plonk me down in the vacuum of space practically naked.

Absolutely loving Starfield too, I've only played about 15 hours because of my schedule but have already had a bunch of fun. I know it's early to ask, but can we get a run (assuming you plan on doing them in starfield) where you only use the cutter to beat the game. Same idea as using the 10mm from Fallout

I started this game a day after launch and it didnt pull me in because of the lack of openworld exploration, i know the ''world''' is huge but it is all sooooo the same and it's all just dropped in a randomly generated world without any paths or whatever. but after a day of not playing it and even uninstaling it i got the feeling i should give it another chance. i tried to get the enjoyment from just quests and side quests and that kinda worked, not a 10/10 for me but it was the regular bethesda experience we know and love but then out of nowhere i started to get huge performance issues without changing any settings ( i even upgraded some components in my already high end gaming setup) that didnt seem to work so i tried playing around with the settings and nothing seems to work. the game freezes every 10 to 15 seconds for a good 2 to 5 seconds and now it is to a point it isnt even worth playing. im not sure it's the area im in or what but for me this is just a fucking mess and i give it a generous 4/10, if they fix all the performance bullshit it might be a 6.5 for me but im afraid this will be it for the game for me. i might pick it up again in some sorth of sale in a few years but until then ill get my bethesda fix from the old tes of fallout stuff. not shitting on your video mate! just the game itself.

Beaty first run two days after release. Decided not to new game +. Started new, seperate run (keep old one for future DLC) and becometh let space Pirate lord. Very much enjoyable.

I dont wanna watch the vid yet as I am just pushing the 49 hour mark on the game but from what I have played threw, the game has been a really good experience for me. I can sit down for hours and play and not even notice the time fly by + who wouldn't want to be a captain of a space ship. the only thing that was tedious for me was the fast travelling to the different planets all the time but once you get adjusted it really doesn't become that big of a deal. even though I haven't watched this full vid I still left a like because nerbit is the goat and am looking forward to the challenge playthroughs

In my roughly 40 hours of playtime, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this game, I have encountered a few bugs but nothing too crazy considering it is a Bethesda game, first one was when I first got to New Atlantis and an NPC was walking 30ft in the air, fell to the ground and continued walking, otherwise I’ve noticed quite a few NPCs wandering around in their underwear for some reason and the occasional body clipping into geometry. Bethesda did a really good job with this title

I love everything about it so far, I accidentally skipped some tips during my first play through and also spent over 300k on building my ship alone mostly by replacing parts and I also removed some perks out of curiosity so I restarted 😅 still now that I understand what I’m doing a lot better it is pretty much the rpg game I always wanted

The game is good but for me it's hindered by the performance. I don't know if it's just my pc being under the minimum system requirements or just the game being unoptimized but I get annoying one to two second freezes every now and again. I heard that if you use an HDD you will get these freezes but I have it on an SSD. I can put up with 30-40fps but these freezes just kill all momentum in the gameplay.

I’ve only completed one mission of the main story😂 I just keep doing the amazing side quests! Also hope you found the “Batman” quest!

The intro didn't bother me much because I spent most of it lasering people with the mining laser. My only genuine complaint so far is the over reliance on fast travel and lack of seamless space travel, but it's a Bethesda game and I'm sure it was a lot of trouble to do it and someone will mod it in

My current run is as a miner. I can only use the cutter(im using heller's cutter) and only the deep mining/deepcore armor and packs

Can you beat Starfield with the Laser Cutter? My answer would be yes. The unlimited battery (just needs a few seconds to recharge) makes up for the low damage and range. There's even a better one you get a bit later in the game.

Ive very much enjoyed Starfield. The NG+ playthrough is going fine, im completing things that I havent done the first time and expanding on what I have perk wise. Ive enjoyed many of the plot points, especially the companions and their personal quests. I want to say my favorite is between Sam or Sarah. Both got me heavily invested in them and i enjoy them as characters. Aside from some glitches that have happened (NPCs becoming hostile for no reason, preventing conversation, NPCs also being teleported way the fuck away from where theyre supposed to be, meaning i have to take a half hour walk to speak to them and then they magically appear where they should after, both for example) the game is good. Good, not excellent. Some gripes i do have, are some of the perk challenges (extra o2 challenges are extremely bothersome, my biggest example.) Ship building is clunky, unfun, and not worth really getting into until you get to tier 3 or max it out. You will also not know what the interior module looks like UNTIL you walk through the ship, and ladder placement isnt a choice you get to make. Outposts are an afterthought. Ship combat at early levels is okay, but high level ship combat without weapon perks, is just horrible. Youll be at a severe disadvantage against multiple ships and take more damage than youll deal out because getting a ship perks is more of a backseat to perks when youre ya know, on the ground for 85% of the game. Im also disappointed in the game economy. Why have something at a value of 12k and when i sell it, only get MAYBE 2k out of it, with perks MAYBE 3. Making money isnt hard, just super tedious.
