Yes. This episode (among most of the rest of them) is the writers of SG-1 telling us that they get it. I love SG-1 so much.

You know damn well this was crap they were trying to push for most of the time, they probably had to have the SE supervisor explain to them every single time why pyro is expensive, hell for awhile they had a hard enough time just lugging around their two "mobile" gate props site to site.

While hilarious it is inaccurate. The singularity unleashed by biotics is unstable and temporary, releasing all of it's matter and energy at once.

The thing is, we actually don't know whether a singularity can actually explode. Singularities often refer to so called ''black holes'' where the laws of Quantum field theory and General relativity should hold. So far we are unsuccessful in combining both theories. GR predicts an event horizon and therefore does not let particles out, QFT says that around an event horizon, you have pair production of particles. As in, a pair of virtual particles turns real when one of the particles crosses the horizon and the other does not (of course this explanation is very much simplified). Then the most promising (mathematical description of nature), a.k.a. Super String theory, is a 'little bit ''far fetched" in my opinion, but who am I to criticize a theory that I don't fully understand ;). So maybe this ``stupid producer'' is it right all along ;)

Just saying if they don't work, one or both of them are wrong or we're missing something. Also would the particle on the event horizon side pull the other one with it till they have both crossed it?

This is all theoretical, but In the vacuum there are ``excitations'' every second. A matter and an anti-matter pair form and are destroyed withing a fraction of a second. Happens all the time, if one of them falls into the BH, and the other does not, one is effectively created. They dont necessarily have to pull each other in. But unfortunately, I don't know enough about this subject to explain this stuff better :(. I specialized the inflation epoch of the universe, which basically does the opposite ;)

JJ has provided quality FLUFF entertainment but not actually quality...as opposed to low brow twenty-somethings and ridiculous plots and contrivances....That's not quality, son. That's every other movie on any particular summer.

Something tells me Browder had his difficulty keeping a straight face stating that line on a show that does take its own liberties with plot devices. However, SG-1 doesn't dumb it all down and has several popular episodes that don't have a single explosion.

I disagree. Prometheus cost less to produce than Star Trek 09, and made more money in the box office (STiD did slightly better, but cost WAY more). Now, that film had its flaws, and I complained bitterly about its bigger shortcomings, but at the end of the day, it was way better Star Trek than either of JJ's Trek movies, and with a little work, could easily become a very respectable set of science fiction films, making money without anything like the vacuous and illogical story of ST09 or STiD.
