What was a concept is now a reality as Bristol-based mountain bike manufacturer, Starling Cycles, has unveiled its Mini-Murmur, a down-country mountain bike that gets all of what we expect from Starling. Rocking 120mm of DT Swiss suspension the bike is littered with Hope goodness. Our Liam headed out to the Forest of Dean to get a taster of the new Starling Cycles Mini-Murmur.

This is my kind of bike. I’d much rather own this than a plastic Pinarello. Thanks for the review! Great to see steel bikes getting attention.

No problem at all! We love a bit of steel but rarely have a chance to ride it.

Privateer have their ebike on sale for £4.000 That's £3200 cheaper than this. Plus privateer are a boutique brand.

There are many e-bikes that are cheaper than many non-e-bikes. Plus, not everyone wants an e-bike. There is a big difference between Privateer and Starling Cycles though. Privateer's frames are completely built in Taiwan where as Starling's front ends are hand-welded in Bristol, UK, so that drives the price up marginally too while being desirable in itself. And then there's Starling's warranty which is quite impressive, and well worth checking out.

@@offroadcc hit the nail on the head. If you want a starling. You have to want a bike no one else will have ( coz it stoopid money). Not care about weight. ( Coz its well heavy) Plus look like it was made in a shed. It's only for people on £120,000 a year

Did I hear £7k for that 🥴 I can only assume maybe 3 or 4 get sold in year, way to much for a acoustic bike 🤪

Just the wheels are 2-2.5k

They would have been better off building a £3000 model and actually sell bikes.

@@tonyparkin3379 if you are a small company you need to offer s premium experience and product. For it to work they need a high profit margin. If you want a budget build buy a frame. For the spec the price is not bad. Having multiple build options is expensive and logistical challenging. If you only can have one the high spec version is the way to go.
