One of the various way to mount your Starlink Antenna with a watertight seal between outside and inside your home. Please proceed with caution if you are not confident with the steps I have taken.

I appreciate this Helpful video. I think maybe a bolt that goes through the pole and the mount would keep it more stable from rotating in the bracket. I see the issues you have with the bracket being insufficient. Your fix works, but perhaps a welded piece of a L metal would give a better connection. But your fix looks Good!

Why drill a hole in the side of the building, install a conduit (which needs to be caulked), cut the wire, use the cut down block, and re-install the wire? Seems like a lot of wasted effort. You could have just put the intact wire through the hole and caulked THAT. No watertight box, no cutting the wire, no punch down. Am I wrong?

@@AdamRRose sure maybe . My way will last longer and looks more professional and also leaves access for expansion in the future . I usually think ahead and do things like this so down the road it is Much easier to add something like a camera .

Hello, what the size of the pole diameter?

That is a very interesting video, thanks for taking so much trouble. One question, any idea of the latency speed of your set up please? By your accent you live in Canada. I live in North West France in a very rural area. The internet reception is CR*P so hence I am looking at Starlink. Like many people who have similar connection problems I also make how to videos for RU-vid. The last 18 minute video I made took me over 5 hours to upload!!!! So I need to do something about this. Plus I have a stone built house and some 25 meters away a stone built office and I need internet connection in both. From my research so far I have come up with a pole mounted antenna on the office outer wall above roof height then a feed into the office and from the office via an existing underground ethernet cable (via an ethernet adapter) into the house. Does that sound like it might work? Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

The latency is very similar to other RU-vid starlink test videos, although it has been pretty inconsistent in my area lately for unknown reasons… possibly more network saturation due to the special offer they have been offering. Yes I am in Canada. That sounds good, just make sure you understand your limitations with what you get with your starlink.. lack of Ethernet ports etc. unless you purchase the adapter.

A further question, if I may. Is there any way I can actually find out what the delivery time of a Starlink kit please? The idea of clicking on a button and ordering, giving my credit card info, then possibly be given a delivery date does not appeal to me. This is not as if this is some high end car or a new private jet, is it. I also make "how to" videos to help the folks out there and I need a faster internet connection. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Tony Hillyard

@@IphoneMod Just ordered mine. Question, I can not see what all they are sending me. Do I need to purchase my own router? I live alone in a small 3 bedroom home, should I get a mesh router?

How did you splice the cable. I haven't seen the cable yet but just ordered 150' of it. Did use data cable end and a coupler. I was told you can't cut it or extend it.
@IphoneMod
@IphoneMod Год назад
The Starlink cable is pretty much a Ethernet cable and can just be spliced as such. Although I wouldn’t extend it, I just cut and reconnected it so I could get the cable through a weather proof seal.

Think it would’ve been easier just to order Sterling’s eve mound
@IphoneMod
@IphoneMod Год назад
Yes in some ways it could have been, although the way I wanted to completely seal the mount would not have been possible with the design of the mount that SpaceX sells and would also still require a pole to mount making this method cheaper as well.

WAIT A MINUTE! Starlink only gets 3 Mbps upload speed? I was informed about 7-8, and Starlink claims 15 mbps upload. I can get 3 from Hughes Net or any satellite ISP.
@IphoneMod
@IphoneMod 4 месяца назад
Starlink prioritizes download speed as consumers typically don’t require much upload speed. If you upload lots of videos to RU-vid etc. then Starlink will struggle a bit with that.
@tesserae-c2y
@tesserae-c2y 4 месяца назад
Upload is limited because the hardware has to transmit the signal 500kms away to a low earth orbit satellite. Depending on the area you can get around 5mbps upload. @@juliensorel5535

@@juliensorel5535 The number is literally in the video? He got 9.99 upload. The 3mbps speed is clearly labeled "previous internet"
@juliensorel5535
@juliensorel5535 3 месяца назад
@kyle-qw5yx Thank you. I noticed that later, but I did more research anyway. Starlink claims 15 mbps for my area, but other reviews find that the average speed is 7-8. Apparently it depends on exact location and can't be predicted until it is installed. 7-8 is good enough for me, so I bought it. It is installed. Tonight I will acquire service, and then I will find out for sure. Thank you for your comment, which I am sure was intended to be helpful rather than argumentative.

@IphoneMod If consumers don't HAVE upload speed, then they will not "require" it, since they can't make use of it whether they require it or not.

I used my old Dish ground installation pole, and the roof mount kit fit into it as if it had been made for it. The Starlink fitting is not very sturdy, so I like having it down where I can keep track of how it is holding up.
