EDIT: Thank you to Daniel Praxis who helped support this video on Patreon. His name was unfortunately left out of the credits section on this one because I neglected to update my Patreon credits list before I uploaded this. Seriously, my bad. The Diamond Sword were always my favorite tribe. Not because I liked their philosophy or character, but just because I thought their armor looked so badass in that one PC Gamer ad I saw as a kid. @@MacsLore seems like the gist of it was 4 new super hercs ranging from a scouts to heavy assault roles with a ton of weapon customizability. the various corporations of earth had started competing to hunt down the cybrids with bioderm pilots wherever they may hide throughout the galaxy. Unwittingly creating an even worse ai threat that defected to the cybrids at the end of the game and that plotline goes nowhere. Unstable bioderm genetics was also a selling point of a game mechanic and probably what led to the bioderms taking the demonic form they do later in the tribes games. Since if you mess with it too much, they start to mutate if they aren't killed by excessive genetic combat enhancements. I still have no idea what you mean by "the chase" in these starsiege videos. Is this what you meant?
there is a new CTF focused one in early access currently, but unfortunately the earliest games with story and campaigns would require some hefty dos-box magic to be playable for the average user
The story of them being originally a part of the Empire was the most popular rumor about where the Diamond Sword came from among the Tribals. It's directly stated in Blake Hutchins "Guide to the Tribes Universe."
@@MacsLore Huh, yeah, I just popped tuguide.html open and there it is. Thanks for the correction and citation. It's great to be learning more about Tribes lore in 2024.
I actually like it. I was never that good at Tribes 1, but when I tried CTF last weekend I actually did fairly OK and even got a Midair kill with the Spinfusor. So yeah, I'll be keeping an eye on it.
