Genuinely an Incredibly helpful video. i just got into modding subnautica, and immediately noticed the guides i found all went to a depreciated mod manager and was very confused. Thank you for making it clear and easy to get back into one of my favorite games ever made.
Glad it helped. There have been a lot of changes in the Subnautica modding community over the years so there are a lot of old videos still out there that don't really work anymore.
I just must be cursed, so did everything you stated and was really simple to follow, so thank you for that. Mod manager shows all enabled but none of the mods are working at all.
Take out all mods and load one at a time. If you find one that works, then add another and see if they stop working. You may have something interfering. Also would be worth making sure you have the newest updates for Bepinex and Nautilus.
@MrSpicyGaming thank you for responding, I also stated this problem in the subnautica discord mod chat. Found out why they were not working, all due to me playing the wrong Beta (was playing experimental not none).
I have watch your Subnautica vids from way back, great content as usual! But I too have been out of Subnautica for a while but keep my games updated in Steam. I recently went into the game and I get the Warning screen about photo sensitivity and cannot get into the game. I hear it the game music but that screen will not go away to launch it. With the 2.0 update breaking Qmods, it's likely causing this problem. So can I just install this BepInEx pack and start using it's mods and the game will just use them automatically or do I have to delete or disable all the Qmods first - how do I do that? Do you have a video about this by chance because I am quite confused.
Very good guide, well put together. But it frustrates me XD. I've been searching for a long time for a solution to my problem : the mods don't show up in game. I'm using the Living large version, not legacy, I have Bepinex, Nautilus, I've followed the guides, unsitalled, deleted the remaining files, reinstalled ... still nothing. I boot up the game and no mod manager button appears, nothing is there, just the base game ... ah well, guess I keep searching XD
First turn on File Name Extensions in Windows Explorer. Then see if the file is there. If not, then you're either looking in the wrong place, because that is the game itself.
If you can't play BZ, if you own it on Steam, it also has a legacy branch. The legacy version is from before they changed the minimum requirements, it might work for you on that branch.
Hi friend. I tried installing some mods, but they didn't work, like more batteries. I use Nautilus, but I saw that it doesn't work with SMLHelper. Can you tell me if there is a version of SML that works with Nautilus?
I swear I'm never going to get this to work I have Nautilus and bepin ex installed my mods are in the bepinex folder and extracted but I log in and the mod manager in the options isn't appearing neither are the mods.
The only difference between when this video was posted and now is really that SML Helper is not used anymore. It's now Nautilus instead that is used. Otherwise the Bepinex install is still the same process.
I'm sorry you got the wrong impression, but the FCS mods are compatible if you are using the current beta version of the mods being developed for Living Large version of the game. You can access them through the FCS Patreon page as long as you join as a supporter. Otherwise, you will have to wait for the mods to be finished and publicly released.
