Hey All!
Here is a link to the paracord I use: amzn.to/3DeYsf2
Here is a link to the macrame I use: amzn.to/3WB22ai
Here is my new video where I break down how I make a Celtic weave woven belt. I use paracord in this video to make a belt that will look amazing at any larp like Amtgard, Dagorhir or Belegarth and would be at home at any Renaissance Fair.

I was looking for a weaving tutorial for some flat cord I had lying around, and to my surprise, this video goes on about exactly what I intended to do! I wanted to make a belt for my sword scabbard, thank you a lot, I learned a bunch with this.

Trim those ends and melt a little bit instead of knotting.the core of the para cord will get less twisted and it will not tangle like it did with the knots in the end that also roll around and catch on everything

I followed this tutorial to weave my first belt (red and blue paracord) and it looks amazing! The only issue I've had is that following your instructions to use 9 yard strands, the end product's weave + tail is almost 20' long! I can wrap it around my (not thin) waist three times and it still almost dangles to the floor. I'm considering unweaving the whole thing and cutting the strands in half so I can make two separate belts. Should be a lot easier now that I've learned this weave. Thank you for the clear instructions and closeups of the tricky bits.

I was wondering the same thing, I though in a previous video you use 11ft sections, 9 yards seems extreme. Do you mean 9 feet?
@meganhockersmith271
@meganhockersmith271 Месяц назад
@ravencros for 1 ft of belt, you need 1 yd of material and an additional yd for the end of the belt. A 6ft-long belt (72 inches) would need 21 yds of fabric. The size of the belt you need will make the measurements differ depending on the waist size of the person you make it for. 😊 I'm currently working on a 5-ft belt which uses 18 ft (6 yds) of material. Since the hitch knot used to connect the cord around the ring cuts the cord size in half when it's done, you'd need double the length (so in my case, 12 yds) of material I also highly recommend measuring at different points when you go - some weaves require slightly different lengths and depending on what it is, it can change the overall length. You're generally safe with the formula mentioned earlier, though 😊 I hope this helps!!

Just finished making one of these but lacked both a ring to accomplish the amount of threads, and the amount of cord to do that much. At least, of the colors in wished to do. I ended up making it with 6 total lengths of cord, equaling 12 lines in total. I did the cobra at the start but instead of making it with a white in the middle like I initially was going to do, I manipulated them around to make each strand have 3 colors. Lacked enough of my grey/black thread to do 2, so I did 1 strand of grey/black and one strand of black. Also did 2 white and 2 of a strand thats called "Deadpool." So I had 2 strands of grey/black, white and Deadpool and 2 strands of black, white, and Deadpool. They ordered, from left to right, DP, white, grey/black, DP, white, grey/black, black, white, DP, black, white, DP. I did them in a 4 strand braid pattern. Had the end made uo and everything and teated it to realize I made it a touch too long. Undid back to where I felt it was going to be comfy and still need to finish up the end piece. This design was a massive inspiration regardless. Will be making another of your designs once I have the lengths of cord I need.

Hey man! Pretty awesome there! Thanks for sharing! I'm doing a 12x2 strand leather belt similar to what you did (only with an antler as a buckle so it's tighter), and I'm looking for idea for the ending ^o) :D So far as I have 24 strands thinking fishing with 3 x 8 strand braid (so 3 braids) and end each of those three by some flat piece of leather / stitch... I'm pretty new so any suggestion is deeply welcome hehe!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled that you found my video helpful. It sounds like you have a great plan for your belt. For the ending, you could try adding some colorful beads or even a small charm that represents something meaningful to you. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

YAY! Beautiful clear concise instructions. Only problem is… How to know how much paracord to shorten design what is the formula
@aroundthefiremedia
@aroundthefiremedia 7 месяцев назад
Generally one yard of cord will come out to one foot of total length of the belt. So if you want to make the belt shorter by six inches, make all your cords half a yard shorter.

I love the design. Thanks for showing us how to do it! I can’t find the most important piece of information-how long to cut the Paracord for what length of belt. Can you put that in the comments?
@aroundthefiremedia
@aroundthefiremedia Год назад
Sure! That will depend on how long you want the belt. I normally have each strand be 8 years long. That makes a belt between 6 and 6.5 ft long.

Any tips using an o ring with macrame cord
@aroundthefiremedia
@aroundthefiremedia 2 года назад
Make sure that after you do a couple, make sure you go back and tighten the cords. This is super important on a O ring. Once you get more than like 6 inches into the belt, it is to late to do that step, so you have to do it early on.

Does using a thinner cord require that I make each strand longer to get the same finished length? Wasn't sure how much having less bulk would effect it
@aroundthefiremedia
@aroundthefiremedia 2 года назад
I have not noticed any significant difference in the length needed when I have used smaller cord. You will need more strands of cord though. Like 12 strands of paracord is needed to make the same width of a belt as 8 stands of 6 mm macrame. The thinner the cord, the more strands you will need to make the belt, if that makes sense.

Hi I have just watched your video on your Celtic Weave Belt. I am very new to paracord weaving. I want to make my best friend some horse tack, ( Breast Collar) How do you determine the length of cording that you need ? Let's say 3' finished length needs how many feet of cording? I would be attaching the cord at each end to a center ring. How would I finish my end to the second ring ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have asked a number of people for help, with no results🙄 I hope to hear from you soon. Love your work ✅️
@aroundthefiremedia
@aroundthefiremedia Год назад
My general rule of thumb is for every ft of finished product you are looking for, each strand needs to be 3 times that length. I also add an extra yard for the end knot. So if I wanted a 6 ft belt I would use 7 yard long cords.
@deniselinke3793

@aroundthefiremedia
@aroundthefiremedia Год назад
@@deniselinke3793 It is my go to rule for all of the belts that I make. Some weaves use a bit more, some a bit less. Most of the time though, this works out.
