A brief tutorial on how to build a starter setup for the create mod, that does not use advanced resources like brass and blaze burners to function. Schematicannon File: drive.google.com/file/d/1Rc6-...
FOR THOSE WHO ARE SAYING IT DOESN'T WORK. I used 2 large water wheels, and also increased the gear ratio - by adding a large cog onto the same shaft as a smaller one, and meshing it with another larger one which turns the small under the tank. I hope this helps someone! It's a great build.
at 8:40 instead of doing the alternating heights on the pipes and creating the windowed pipes you "decorate" them with the copper casings as you place them. Pipes encased in copper casings won't change the direction they're in when other pipes are placed next to them.
alhamdulillah, thank you so much for this i could not understand how to use this thing but now it makes sense. I just made it to the moon with create:astral and i need a powerstation. Thanks again
Ive just build this in my survival world it didnt work at first i had to place a second pump to get it to work now it works like a charm gg for the vid😅
Hello … that’s a cool design. Well done. I’m curious about the output power. How much of stress units is it generating? In my world I built a steam engine with blazers but they are definitely not an early game option so campfire would be a good alternative. thank you
So this system is made from 8 individual Level One boilers. So it produces roughly 16K Stress, however I do want to make another video doing more of a deep dive into how the blaze burners and heating mechanics works. So I'll get to work on that, keep an eye out for it :) I have a video in the works before that but it's on the list
last update's removed the importance of the quantity of flowing water around waterwheels and the direction of pump rotation. keep this in mind when recreating this
@@rasmusdamkjr5270 any amount of flowing water around a waterwheel makes the waterwheel output the best possible stress unit (which we know as 320 SU) and speed output. this also applies to the new large waterwheel. as for the 2nd part, pumps will only pump fluid in the direction they are facing, and not change their direction based on the direction of their gear's rotation. no more fiddling around with every single pump in a system after you add gearshifts.
How would you change this to make it output enough power? Because im assuming this change is the reason the engine wont work when attached to the first boiler now
In our old server, I also used kelp to power my factory. Now I'll use Bioethanol but before thst also kelp because since someone decided to add cinder flour to the recipie, it's a pain to automate.
Wonderful tutorial! I love your buildstyle and the tutorial format. Please make more! Sadly, this doesn't seem to be working in Create v0.5.1b anymore. I'm getting the impression it doesn't generate enough RPM. The small (regular sized) waterwheels produce 256SU, I've tried with the large waterwheel (512SU) and that halves the number of water intake. That intake seems just not to be enough (8 instead of the required 10 with 2 small waterwheels, and 4 with 2 large waterwheels) So it must be the RPM. One time shift up (small cog -> large cog) doesn't seem to be enough. I'm going to test this with a larger setup.
Yes, tested the new setup: For the first steam boiler to work with the current Create 0.5.1b version, you *have* to shift up once with gears. You need more RPM (minimum of 8). I took your design, but instead of placing the large cog diagonally towards the player in the video ("forward" or "down" however you want to call the direction), you have to put it diagonally to the top (away from the player). Then add a small cog on top of the large one ("shifting up", and now you go diagonally down again with a second large cog. It breaks the cute little building, have to find something to fix that. I hope this is clear for you all. It's hard to explain without pictures.
hi, sorry my shafts aren't turning I used the cannon and fixed the things that needed fixing but they still don't turn am I missing something? edit: never mind i just had to replace the fluid tanks
The steam engine doesnt work for me on the first liquid storage, it says my waters too low but ive done it exactly like you have. Has something changed with the mod?
i thought the pumps required a set amount of source blocks to be considered infinite because i remember i had a steam boiler just drain the lake i was using for give it water
if water is a line of 3 or more and you take from the center block it will be infinite so with this one you may need to extend the ends out by 1 on each side
I think in your case you used the hose pulley in the lake. That will drain it, unless the lake is at least 10K source blocks, and the hose pulley is at the bottom of the lake. Then it will work as an infinite water source.
You did an awesome job on actually explaining. I have noticed that my water wheels do not spin as fast as yours. I did everything that you shown. But my water wheels spin slower, and my steam engine is not moveing. The tank is full of water.
The new 5.1 update has broken the waterwheel part of the farm because they work a bit differently now, i need to revisit it and update them to work in 5.1
Doesn't seem to work with 0.5.1b anymore as water throughput is too low. Although the waterwheel is generating 128, the pump is only inputting 640 mB when an input of 81o mB is necessary to start the original boiler.
you can replace the campfire infront of the first pump with a second pump then it'll work and I'm pretty sure if you want more heat you can add a blaze burner instead of the single campfire left but it wirks with a single campfire
so i built it the same but im not getting the first steam engine to power everything else running, i have the goggles that say it needs more water but i built it the same so i dont get it
If you have the goggles on you can see what the steam engine is missing or if it's overstressed. - If it lacks WATER you need to check the pump that it pumps right direction and check water source if it's placed correctly as infinite source. And the speed of the pump is fast enough. - If it lacks HEAT, then campfires are not directly underneath or the tank is too big for fire ones. - and if it is OVERSTRESSED it means waterwheels are not enough to power pump with the speed you have. Drop speed or add wheels. Cheers 🥂
I’m not sure what’s going on, but I’ve dug out the 2x2 and set up the water wheel and put campfires and water is being pulled in but steam engine is not working
If my calculations are correct, a single water wheel can handle not just the starter boiler but the eight actual boilers. I havenʼt tested that in game though and itʼs close enough any factor of 2 I missed would ruin it.
Yeah, I was missing a factor of 4, *and* I was missing that mechanical pumps have halved effectiveness when pumping from blocks in the world instead of from tanks. EDIT: No, I misunderstood the pump debuff *again.* This is in fact one water wheel per four pumps in your setup, if you have the water wheel *fully* powered (all four sides), which is easiest with horizontal water wheel; this also has the advantage you donʼt need to shift the speed because the required speed is 20 RPM which is the output of a fully-powered water wheel. Combining the output of horizontal water wheels can be a pain, though, so since you want eight productive pumps this is probably easier.
My small boiler is running but the steam engine isn't running. Can anyone help? Edit: I realized that after the update it requires much more power to pump the water in there. You can fix it by adding a windmill or any other way of increasing the stress unit.
hihi! 7:03 i tried attaching the water engine to the tank but it wasnt moving- despite all the cogs and wheels working perfectly fine and the mechanical pump being in the right place. pls help!! edit: NEVERMIND I FIXED IT!!! just placed some blocks incorrectly- good tutorial!
although i think this would be avery good tutorial you seem to have skipped so much so for someone who hasnt used create before i cant even do a tank as i need copper sheets which need a press to get so now i need to figure this out, thanks though
i would just have a makeshift setup to get the materials, like a water wheel or handcrank to power the required machines. make sure to use the JEI mod to get the recipes for everything ingame
@@terrariaskillissue4492 yer im slowly getting there, just using the W to see what the things do. and not i think the back to basics may help so goign to watch that now
@@skeej_inc Have you done so yet, I used the schematicanon to make your build only to realize the end product doesn't work, is there any way to fix it?
Move the water wheel off the side off of the side of the house by 6 or so blocks. Attach a shaft to the water wheel, a large cog to the shaft, and a small cog to the side of the large cog, this will increase the RPM of the small cog, you can add another shaft and repeat the cog trick to further increase the RPM until it supplies the engine.
@@box3354 The steam engine was introduced in version .5 and with a vanilla recipe of a gold sheet, andesite alloy and block of copper. This recipe hasn't changed. There is only 3 options that the recipe is different in your pack A) you changed the recipe B) the modpack author changed the recipe or C) the steam engine recipe is apart of an add on for create and not the actual create mod. If it's the 3rd option then you are looking at the wrong recipe. When you hover over it in jei it'll say what mod it is from. If it says create then it's the correct steam engine, but if it says anything else after the word create then that is not the correct steam engine.
@@hbct Why are you being so annoying and mad? Do you have anger issues? Place down a small cog and a big cog on the small cog's shaft and, put a small cog on the corner of the large cog. Repeat until you can't place anymore.
@@Sc00pminator and where are you getting all the su to make it so fast? will it power your entire base? u can use cog magic once you have built the steam engine. cog magic isnt worth it if you cant have stress magic. plus i was just justifying this genius who just got called " not worth it. " that fact that you are accusing me of having anger issues for standing up to somebody shows a lot more about you.
@@hbct i have 8 water wheels under my base with the cog magic, trust me it works fine. For a beginner i said i did not recommend the build. It just takes resources and i just told you my opinion. Now, I'm saying you have anger issues because you are typing a whole essay.
