The last few weeks have been HARD, y’all! My scalp has been going crazy. Since filming this video I’ve gotten closer to determining the cause of this issue and it’ll be explained more in depth in my next video. While the bantu knots did not help the problem (as I explained), that style was not the main reason nor the only reason that my hair is breaking like this. The allergy symptoms in this video are a hint. I’m working with my doctor to determine the cause and rule out the various possibilities. As always, I want to give y’all the REAL, never a filtered version of the truth. I hope this very vulnerable moment for me, is received well by you all.

Locs aren’t about perfection! Let go of the sense of control and let the locs be. You can fix your parts as much as possible but they will still do what they want 😭

Your hair looks really healthy. If you continue to let it grow out the hair will grow back into the loc in a few months. This would be a great opportunity to showcase your oils and how it works to repair your hair.🙂

I'm so grateful for you making this video because I am literally in that position right now. When my locks were started I knew that a perfect square base would be the healthiest option for my hair instead I allowed the loctician to do free parting.. now when I try to style my hair in the simplest of styles it hurts. I've had my locks for a year now and they've butted so I'm stuck in between the feelings of wanting to chop my entire head off or just save them... I know they could be thicker and more uniform but I've come so far.. something tells me with the proper products and the proper lactation, my hair can be salvaged. But when I tell you I'm over the moon grateful for this video I mean it.. I'm going to try to thug it out as long as I possibly can and see what the new optician can do to save my hair. I also be trying out your hair oil because I do need an everyday oil for my scalp. Now I'm about to go see if you actually kept them lol - I hope you did

Locs doesn’t have to be neat or a certain way!! & They don’t suppose to look like everyone else’s locs !! They don’t have to be parted or you can. Let your hair do it’s own thing. What I do with my locs is water them each day like a plant 🪴 🌱… let it dry on its own I sometimes add moisture to my scalp. That’s it. I don’t worry about them being straight down etc. They goes anywhere it wants. They are THICK. & beautiful 😍. Thanks for sharing

New subscriber and I fell in love with you for sharing this video. I’m sorry you experienced this, but thank you for sharing your honest experience and teaching us from what you actually went through. I have alopecia and I was scared to start my locs (and RU-vid channel) because of my previous experiences with hair loss. But I decided (it’s a constant decision) to love myself authentically, no matter how my hair grows. It’s a bit easier to do when you find your community- so I’m glad to have found you! You’re a real Beauty Queen!

Hair breaks for many reasons, styles, health or like me, I accidentally cut mine to 1/2 inch removing faux locs. It happens. You have the tools to grow your hair and learn from the mistakes we all make. Let it to what it do and in 6 months you’ll be happy you did.

I feel your pain, I am one year in my journey and suffered a great deal of breakage. I mean, a lot of breakage at my roots due to overprocessing my hair with hair dye. I decided to stop stressing which can make the situation worse and reroute my focus on the health of my locs/ roots. I suggest the same for you. Btw, you and your locs are beautiful.

I had breakage with mine but I think this is a reaction. Back in 2010 I had to stop my relaxer because my hair just started falling out and my scalp burned. Turns out I have a nerve issue and thyroid condition. So I have been switching to natural products and back on my vitamins. Going to see my endocrinologist soon. Thank you for being so open.

Don’t be too concerned with neatness and don’t over twist your hair. Your locs are fine! Let them grow. As you get new growth you twist that new hair into your locs too. And for the hair that breaks if you twist them too often because you want to have a super neat look you will create breakage. Just let them grow! Don’t cut them.
@CourtneyGrayton
@CourtneyGrayton 3 года назад
I combed them out and it was the best decision for me! 🙌🏾
@SeptemberBluez

That's how I felt when I started my Locs the first time... I let someone else do them and my parts were not right... I have OCD and it's very bad... everything has to be perfect and right and that goes for everything not just my hair... but one thing I had to realize it that locs are not perfect and they are beautiful just the way they are... but I did my own and I got them just the way I wanted them... so I feel a lot better about them not being too perfect since I didn't have to pay someone to do them... And to be honest you can still have the perfect grid and overtime your parts will not be the same so it really doesn't matter... I know I'm late but i hope you left them in😁

So you're having breakage because of the parts or because you did the previous bantu knots too tight? You got me worried for you. And I still trust you as my RU-vid loctician.
@symonemance4263
@symonemance4263 3 года назад
I didn’t understand what the problem was. Are you saying your parts are causing breakage or the Bantu knots did it?
@CourtneyGrayton
@CourtneyGrayton 3 года назад
A combination of the bantu knots and an allergy that caused breakage. My parts being brick made it harder to save because the parts were no longer straight with the breakage. Hope that makes sense! Lol
@i_am_cassie5407

Styling locs that short creates too much tension a big no no. It's best to use pure oils, no styles until longer and let them be free...

you may need a steroid topical for your crown. Central citrical alopecia is common in black women and your hair likely can't handle a lot of things. if it's itchy and firey with lots of breakage that's a sign of the early inflammation that leads to long term hair loss. you gotta stop it quick
