I'm not going anywhere. Just subscribed and I can definitely relate to the itchy scalp. My scalp is extremely sensitive and it goes nuts if I use any product with coconut, aloe vera, olive or tea tree in it. Started my loc journey on May 19, 2021 and my loctitian mainly uses home made products with almond and avocado oil on my hair and so far, no problems and definitely no itching. Thanks for sharing and I'm praying you have discovered what you're allergic to.

Oh wow, I *just* did the same after a month of my starter locs. I realized they were unhealthy and not the way I wanted them, and restarted. I hope the second go-around goes better and that you're able to figure out what you're allergic to! 🖤

What I’ve really discovered is that so many people start and stop, and then start and stop again! So there really should be no pressure to keep locs that you don’t like! ♥️ thanks so much for the encouragement ✨

You’re absolutely right! Starting & restarting locs is APART of the journey. I’ve been contemplating restarting mine (for the 3rd time 😭) and this has reassured me to try again & be patient (emphasis on PATIENT) with my hair. So, thank you for uploading this video and sharing a vulnerable moment :)

Hey, Beautiful, our hair as you know is a living thing. Just like any other part of our body it can get sick too…you’re young and beautiful, it will come back. Have you thought about coming into contact with pets etc. To be honest we’ can develop allergies at any stage of our lives. I am new to your Channel & too locks. Several years ago after years of relaxing my hair & burning my scalp to blazes, I started dating a new guy. A white guy☺️he taught me to get a stylish short cut, not only could I just get up & go, but I saved money and looked good too. Well several years later and I decided to give locks a go. I love reggae and the reggae culture, I’m a British Jamaican😉so here I am at 57, with grown children doing my thang😉. Thank you so much for your honesty & your professional advice, I’m gonna have to look at some of your early videos too. I live in England, I’m gonna try eBay to see if I can find your line in hair products. Thank you & God Bless🙏🏽ONE LOVE☺️

Girl I totally understand the guilt I've been a licensed cosmetologist for 25 yrs & my hair started falling out from alopecia right in the front in my bang area, I was able 2 cover it with my style, it happens every yr @ the same time but recent yrs it started getting worse n I was unable 2 cover it ( I had 2 wear head wraps & as a hairstylist once twice is fine with head wraps but for months your clients 2nd guessing your skills) , so I stop relaxing n went natural NOW I HAVE MICROLOC & it's doing good

I just got my starter locs I believe 3 days ago. I know I’ll restart them professionally when I get back to Cali I just wanted to have my hair in a style I can leave it alone. I don’t mind restarting until I like how they are placed. Restarting is beautiful💙✨

Before I started my locs I got my hair braided in box braids for the first time in years and I couldn’t stop scratching my scalp i kept them in for a month n ignored the the itch. Once I took them out my scalp was so scabbed up I was so upset I think I was allergic to the actual hair itself. Once I took it out the itch was gone. After that I just stayed a loose natural until starting my journey.
@CourtneyGrayton
@CourtneyGrayton 3 года назад
I’m definitely allergic to most of the synthetic fibers too, unfortunately. And I feel you! I made that decision also, to go bsck to the basics

Xpressions actually coat their hair in this thing that was irritating everyone's scalp. I think I read it was alkaline based... I did my hair before I heard of it and I had to take my braids out after 2 weeks. The itching from maybe the second day was way too much... Not sure if other hair companies were doing it but the talk while researching was xpressions so I switched hair brands. No issues since.

I'm sooo late lol but the scratching might be due to using oils (especially toi many essential ones) in between washes and/or washing too often. The oils mix with the sweat and it's just catastrophic and the too frequent washes make your hair so harsh and dry that the friction actually irritates your scalp🥲🥲 I'm not a pro but speaking from experience😮‍💨 my first 6 months were a mess and the scratching magically stopped when I stuck to one oil (+ 2 drops of antifungal essential oil per bottle) after a monthly wash as conditioner💀 for "hydratation" I massage my scalp to spread the sebum on my lengths and just make sure to be healthy from the inside like just trust my body to produce the best oils for me It's extremely minimal but my hair has never been that luscious, shiny, thick and long my whole life😭😭😭 edit: Oh and I've dealt with alopecia and used so many products and it all started growing back when I got tired and left it alone lol😭😭😭 I saw it as an opportunity to strengthen my hair wrapping game and my african silks collection and I guess the lack of stress, traction and the acceptance worked in my favor

I am also locked on soft fine hair I don't go into the three or four B thing but I do realize my scalp is very sensitive now so I let it hang you is only castor oil and Rose water only so far so good that itching is crazy ☮️💕😇

I'm experiencing some breakage too. Discovered it about 3 months ago. I haven't figured out what it's due to, but I'm questioning if it's scratching. Jojoba oil seems to be good, but I'm still scratching a little. I love scratching my scalp 😊, I know I shouldn't.
@CourtneyGrayton

Hmm that could definitely be it, especially if you’re using your nails! 😩 they also make good tools to use that scratch but are not too harsh!!

I have starter locs and I decided to stretch my washdays but dayum it’s so itchyyyyy!!! The sevum/scalp oil mixed with sweat is probably the cause. Idk what to do maybe wash more frequent again.

Peace and Blessings, I’m new your channel and I’ll be following often . Thank you for sharing your Lov journey with us and for being so transparent ✨. I too have been experiencing some itchy scalp and I have no clue as to why. My loctician confirmed no dry scalp or irritation or inflammation , but that it could be that it’s just growing 🤦🏽‍♀️( I HIGHLY doubt it) . I use rosewater, coconut, castor and olive oil, but it doesn’t stay oiled very long. I’m curious as to why this is happening and it even has me considering restarting mine for smaller parts. I’m just really having a hard time because I’m going into month five and they’ve grown tremendously and budded pretty nicely. Is there a way I can just take down the middle to start new one’s? For some reason that’s where most of the itching is. She had washed my hair with Head And Shoulders and thought that was kind of odd , but I’m new to this and I’ve never been very good a washing my hair so I don’t know what’s best. Do you have any advice for me?
@CourtneyGrayton
@CourtneyGrayton 3 года назад
I recently discovered that an allergy to cow's milk was the source of my issues! I also have other allergies and notice that recently the itching has also manifested in my scalp for those. I HIGHLY recommend that you get an allergy test to see if there's anything you should be avoiding contact with. Feel free to follow me on instagram @c.grayton and ask any questions you have via DM. Thanks so much for watching my channel :)
