After having intermittent starting issues with my 2005 SeaDoo GTX 4-TEC, I replaced the starter solenoid and now it starts ever time. I first thought that my start/stop button was going out, because it felt like I had to press it harder than normal to activate the starter. Later it became apparent that the real problem was the starter solenoid, which thankfully is much easier to replace than the button.
Here's links to the parts required:

Dielectric Grease: amzn.to/3dxiRiT

Thank you for posting the video, very clear. It looks like you're using a 10mm Kobalt deep well socket, is it low profile/thin wall? My Craftsman 10mm socket is too thick to fit into the very tight space where the nut is recessed into the plastic cap. I'm working on a 2004 SeaDoo GTX SC 4-TEC.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the two nuts holding the wires to the relay itself? Those protectors are rubber, so you should be able to force the socket on, no matter how thick the walls are. Unless the rubber has hardened in which case you may have to cut it off to get the socket on.

I have a similar issue with my 2015 - usually just clicking sound on first few tries then eventually it starts. Seems more like a bad/corroded connection but am wondering if a solenoid could fail in this way where it works some of the time?
@FixandMaintain
@FixandMaintain 3 года назад
Yes, that’s exactly what was happening with mine. It would work some of the time, but other times just a click. I thought it was the button at first, but it fixed the problem when I replaced the solenoid.

I have a 2020 seadoo and no clicking nothing and battery fully charged. Only starts when I hook up a jumper ?
@FixandMaintain
@FixandMaintain 2 года назад
Hopefully you didn’t fry your voltage rectifier when you hooked up jumper cables, SeaDoos aren’t meant to be jumped off like a car. Do you have a way to measure the battery voltage?

@@FixandMaintain battery is fully charged took it to a motorcycle dealer.

Did they actually test the battery to make sure that it's not bad? The SeaDoos that I've had in the past all have trouble starting when the battery starts to go bad. Being a 2020 model, I wouldn't expect it to be a bad battery. But if it's just a standard flooded lead acid battery and not an AGM battery, then it might be something to check.

This looks NOTHING like my 2002 Seadoo 4 Tec. Mine has a starter Assembly that cant be jumped and all one sealed box

Looks like 2002 was the only year that had that sealed starter solenoid. According to this forum, you may be able to convert it to the updated solenoid: www.seadooforum.com/threads/2002-gtx-4-tec-limited-starter-relay-solenoid.101425/
