Here is my advice on starting a RU-vid Channel for fishing. I am by no means the top RU-vidr in the fishing category and I don't have this whole RU-vid thing completely figured out either, but this is my advice on starting a channel from the experience that I do have and the foundation that I have built.

this video is solid gold!!!I jumped in with both feet after 2 years of fishing from a kayak,I bought 2 gopros.tripods, and software, the back to back floods had made it hard to focus on. content for a video, but what I can share is I started a lure company(started dealing with pro anglers at first,it looked promising with vintage cranks and hand poured plastics)but......I put together a "PRO STAFF" of 3 people.I mailed the first 2 guys 4 to 500 worth of hardbaits each, and as soon as they got the lures they disappeared, lol.anyway I contacted chad first about this and even he seemed skeptical like I was being too trustworthy,I should have listened to him!!!So with that being said, this video really touches home with me In multiple ways.the flood took half my personal gear,if I would have started simple I probably would have just lost a few rod and reels.but we will bounce back!!ordering new aluminum molds now, thanks for always sharing the info brother!!Chad W

Chad, to many businesses and the like concentrate on the customers they don't have rather than the ones they do have. I think when you said concentrate on your existing subscriber's was the best advice you could have given, it is also probably the hardest single thing to do, once you get into the world of social media. Great job - like always.

Great words of advice Chad! I'm three years into this and only have 85 subs! It's all good, though. I'm having fun producing videos and gradually making them better and hopefully more interesting. Good thing I have a day job and don't depend on YT to pay the bills. :)

Hi, Chad 👍🏼👊🏻 Awesome advice !!!! I have watched a lot of U Tube videos especially your channel and I enjoy all the time on the water videos when your traveling to all the different states and the lakes and farm ponds and those awesome double digit bass you find while fishing plus your advice on the different types of lures, rods and reels, fishing line and the kayaks you promote. Chad I’m saving up for the GoPro Hero 6 which is $500 plus all those accessories you need when your trying to get the best picture or video. I’m still loving my Wilderness Systems Ride 115,s !!!! Chad thanks for sharing and enjoy and have an amazing and Blessed week !!!! Danny

Just a suggestion for anyone wanting to go a little bigger, If you are on an apple computer, and doing multicam 4k, final cut x is so so much faster and stable with multiple angles, quick editing and helps you get content bounced down more quickly. Final Cuts angle editor has been an incredibly helpful to me in efficiency. Pr CC is really great too, but don't discount Final Cut X either.

I know this is an old video but I think the best thing to do is get a gopro (I got mine on ebay for $100 and it came with mounts) just go fishing and be your self go have fun and fish. Right now I'm playing around with the editing side of thing but I do think my videos are pretty decent for what they are. Imma just be myself and make videos let other things fall into place naturally.

I have a unique idea to try out while bass fishing. I wish I had the money for some type of gopro camera, that'll make things 10x easier on me. I don't have the best equipment out their but what I do have works wonders. Recently I got a lews mach smash rod n reel and also a lews Im6 speed stick combo. I started off fishing with hand me down lures and bought the cheapest stuff on the market. However I have upgraded since then.

Chad, You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned effort, energy and time, to be successful at anything especially a social media platform you have to devote yourself to all three. To really reach people especially allot of people I believe you have to have content that's engaging, knowledgeable and at sometimes provocative. We live in a time where people have extremely short attention spans so if the content that anyone is putting out is not engaging it may be hard for people to stick through a entire video unless they are already committed to that channel. Chad I appreciate that you are committed to what attracts most of your subscribers to your content, knowledge, truthfulness, and a wide range of topics all with the humor that is contagious, I started my channel because their aren't allot of African Americans that #KayakFish let alone do it from and #InflatableKayak so I feel that I have a niche on content that is unique for certain people.

Thanks for posting. I've been doing a rock n roll fishing show out here in Los Angeles on my channel for the last 3 months. It's been a hustle for sure. Hoping to get some Nashville episodes in when I'm home for Christmas in a few weeks. Random question... what category do you have your channel listed as? Entertainment? Education? Sports? Wish there was an outdoors category or something. I wonder if the wrong category label is bleeding views?
