I like how the engine sound is the same - whether it's one from the 80s/90s that you see everyday or whether it's now from some abandoned and revived W123 in a junk yard.
I'm old enough to have seen these as a taxi in 1985, when the W123 was still being sold new. Best looking taxi i saw in all my life. And i'll never forget the soothing sound of that diesel at idle.
I respect such classics. In the past, engines were made that were supposed to be indestructible and serve people, not the pockets of marketers. Class, elegance, reliability. These are the characteristics of the classics. It doesn't matter if it's a Mercedes or a BMW.
No matter how damaged is a W123 it always gonna start. This W123 shows how reliable they are despite its conditions this car still running. I've got one since 2007 and I bet to say this car it's one of the best MB ever. Unfortunately these cars will never be made anymore so we gotta take care the ones that are left in the world.

@@rom4ick24 да там ещё с самого начала видно было что подвеска наклонена на левую сторону . максимум что от туда можно забрать так это двигло с коробкой ну и ещё возможно фары и редуктор
Beautiful! I am restorating the w123 with the m115, which is incredible too. That engine comes from back in 1956 and still has almost 10 bar on every cylinder 😅
I just got one that had been sitting for one year in the US for 800 US dollars. I did similar to you and got it running and back on the road. I love my 82 W123 turbo diesel, she will take me wherever i need to go.
12:44 - that's a really amazing start up right there! You can here the old metal parts scraping on each other but that's a quick and precise start up - almost like a brand new car.
I can tell you were having fun with this car. 😊 The rust is bad but the engine runs great. Good job getting it running again. Love the sound of that Mercedes diesel.

If you drive the new car you dont hear the engin but you are siting like on wooden bench, if you want the comfort then drive w 123. I hade one in 2009 it was 200 D, lazzy but sitting like in water bed,so nice. Nice work Flexiny Greting from Bosnia and Hercegovina

When I was young I used to go to my uncle, and he had Mercedes like this, sitting in a garage for 30+ years. Engine doesnt run, but body had no rust. He still has it, its gonna be worth much I think

Such a shame, that someone would allow such a beautiful and reliable vehicle to fall in to such an advanced state of decay. Well, on the plus side you now have a perfectly good OM617 engine to do with as you please.
Rewelacja !:))) Tylko trochę zardzewiały :) Te jazdy testowe lekko pogorszyły jego stan , ale w Afryce by miał absolutnie drugie , nowe życie. Silnik , układ napędowy , idealny. Kiedyś Mercedes potrafił robić niezniszczalne jednostki napędowe. 300D , 5 cylindrów , 90 horsepower .
Just the details of the accessories, all the interior furnishings, all the preserved systems of this car... this car is of great value as a collection of recycled spare parts.
This is the future of cars, when your 2023 model car breaks down in a few years, there will be w123 diesel someone in the world waiting to be started and run with minimal input.
It will probably have problems starting up at around 5,000 kms because of a faulty sensor in the fuel injection pump. That was one of my mates' experience with his 2022 brand new E-class.
@@shadowalk Electric cars do not have a fuel injection pump well because they are electric but it will have a lot of problems in 5k because of the Planned obsolescence and once warranty end it will be to be scrapped
These were built to last and probably the best Mercedes of all time. Such a shame it has been left to rot. What happens to these cars after you get them running? Do they go back to sitting? Sold off? Scrapped or do they get restored?
Sadly sold both Patrols because of high amount of rust. I could use classic 4x4 for towing If i found one with good price and without rust but it is impossible. :D
Ahh the best Mercedes Made of All Time in Africa you got them with 2 Million kilometers on the Counter with No Major Breakdown this one has some Good parts for Somebody else's restoration 😄
