There's a great practice book called syncopation by Ted Reed that was instrumental for my learning, where you just go through all of the examples. Either over a "rock beat" or a swing beat. What you are describing (and Adam Neely) is the Odd time version of this book

Man this is insightful content. Thank you. There are some odd time sigs that feel natural to me because I'm finger picking and breaking it down into 16ths notes (four fingers comfortably hovering over the strings) yet in retrospect many odd riffs I play while using a pick end up in that "cheesy" category because there's no accented pulse/groove.. Like just taking an 8 count pattern and removing the last beat, it can sometimes sound forced or just too jarring.

The best way to feel odd time is to honestly just practice it....once I started playing a bunch of non 4/4 music....you just learn to not count eventually because you won't need to. But I like those accent exercises....

How do you program this things like metric modulations in Logic?

interesting points of view, why don't you use konnakol to count these kind of things? they would make it so much easier
