The best thing about this series is i get to see how differently each of your brains work, which, as someone who plays but still has a long way to go, helps because maybe one of you will say how you look at a subject and, while I kinda get it I'll say "I dont think that way at all" then the other person has a perspective that's validates how my brain works. Super resourceful I hope you guys do this for ever.

As a guitar player this was so good. Hearing how you guys approach music and making sense of these concepts is so dope and helpful on how I can grow as a musician🙏🏾

This is a really interesting video, and the exercise of taking a chord voicing and thinking about which notes correspond to what intervals relative to all 12 notes as a root is really useful for me. Underrated content. Also the b2 stretch between 1 and 3 and the "fuck you" made me laugh haha

7:48 "flat 9 and regular 5" But I believe it'd be a #5/b6. Still definitely right about the E Phrygian though, just think it was misspoken. The chord is E F C G. Could be viewed as Em (b9,b6), or Cadd4 in 1st inversion, or even a Fmaj9 (no3) in 3rd inversion.

when he played the notes he was referring to in the structuring of the chord, I’m pretty sure he played a B. you’re right tho, it wasn’t in the chord. probably didn’t play it bc Josh played the chord first

I like Josh's approach better, it sounds like less effort and more fun! One question I have for Josh - how would you recommend learning the major scale on the fretboard? 3NPS or pentatonic, or something else?
@interceptorFr0st
@interceptorFr0st 2 года назад
try learning pentatonics first, then triads and the major scale

Jesus fucking christ dude lol you guys are super intelligent with music theory and how it works! I have been playing guitar off and on now for about 30 years and I still dont understand music theory or time signature. I just pick up and play/by ear or matching notes and drum pattern? or same with any other instruments or finding patterns in the music how they "reset"? if that makes sense. Chords I just make up random shapes and adjust the frets/fingers but idk the sounds and patterns to me seem colors and shapes if that makes sense?

Its bizarre seeing you guys talk theory. Here i am explaining to my bass player play this and this and have no idea what I'm talking about lol
