Hello Miranda! Another knowledgeable video! I really love yours videos! There are also a lot of trucking companies in California so that would be great if you will create similar video about California authority! Thank you for your wonderful videos!
Hi Miranda. So Texas 144hr temp plates are having issues forcing me to prematurely have to get my TX Apportioned Plates. I currently am doing a lease purchase & have power of attorney for registration purposes only. (the truck is in the lease company & thier banks name) With this I'll be getting plates to use (with their name on the cabcard) but in the near future I will have paid off the truck & will be wanting to get my own plates. If that happens say in 6mo will I be able to get a prorated refund for the plates? I appreciate any light you could shead here. Thanks!
Hey Miranda! In schedule B they asked for a list of distance traveled for the previous year. what if I just bought the truck and have no recorded distance, Do I keep it empty or how would you go about it? Thanks in advance
This is where your business is based. When you form an LLC or Corporation, you must provide the "Principle Place of Business". If you are just starting out, you may provide your home address. If you are an established business with employees, it may be an office address. That's what the established place of business means :)
Good afternoon! I found that California is too expensive to have a trucking company there as you did! Which states would you recommend as a good to move my authority there and is it a difficult process to do it? How to transfer or how to change state for MC, DOT number and LLC. Thanks.
Hi! Yes, California is one of the worst states to set up your trucking business. With all the rules, regulations, taxes and the lack of parking (and awful roads), its definitely unfavorable. In terms of where to open a trucking business, the midwest is pretty popular! I am not sure how easy it is to move the LLC, but from what I do know- you would need a physical address wherever you are moving! Sorry I couldnt be of more help!
Hey MIranda quick question if you can assist. If my authority is in California can I get irp plates from Texas? My truck is going to be parked at Texas when I take my home time.
Excellent question. When you apply for your apportioned plates (IRP), you will be required to provide 3 proofs of presence in the base state. If you apply for IRP in Texas, you would multiple documents showing that you have an address there (such as a mortgage, CDL with your address, car registration with your address, and so on).
It might take me a moment so instead, not to keep you waiting, I am attaching a link to the Michigan Startup Checklist :) For MI, its pretty easy. There are no crazy state specific requirements! drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BM7Co7vXvBrIX-ch3VkvrHUvfx0fiOk4?usp=sharing
Hello Miranda. Thank you for your time and efforts you spent to create this piece of useful information. I’m right in the process of doing all this stuff. The only difference is that my State is Florida. Should I expect a video about Florida requirements anytime soon?
