**IMPORTANT** In the video, I said that you need the Revolver RIg in order to make this redirect. That is objectively INCORRECT. There are plenty of other pulleys out there that have beckets, such as the DMM Pinto Pulley and some versions of the Rock Exotic OmniBlock...and I have no doubt that there are plenty of others out there. Sorry for the oversight on my part.
in this episode, I will discuss and demonstrate a static redirect for MRS/DRT tree climbing. My setup involves a Revolver Rig by DMM (a necessary pieces of equipment for this redirect due to its becket), a Pinto Pulley by DMM, and a 120cm Dyneema sling by DMM.
I am climbing with a Hitchclimber setup with a Teufelberger Drenaline 11.8mm static arborist rope going through an adjustable friction saver (out of view for mos of the video, but it is visible at times if you watch closely); a friction hitch called the Sticht hitch, tied using a 30" Sterling RIT 9mm hitch cord/eye to eye with sewn eyes and a 34mm ID Anchor Ring by DMM; and Hitchclimber pulley (which has three connection slots) by DMM; finally, my saddle/harness is a Treemotion by Teufelberger by great hardware, upper and lower D's, and two bridges.
This redirect is easy to build and it is absolutely the best option if you can afford the hardware/already have the hardware and just never thought to build a redirect this way! With the two pulleys holding each strand, your MRS/DRT climbing systems will run super smoothly and, because it keeps each strand separated, there's no worries about rope on rope friction. If you are able to, and if you climb MRS/DRT, then I would strongly encourage you to give this redirect a try!
