I wonder what is the function of the right thumb trigger on that Bb tuba (meinl weston 197/2)

Kwan Chi shing it’s a functional tuning mechanism that can be used while playing. Similar to the idea of a trumpet player’s third slide and first slide being moveable while playing to adjust for better intonation. There is also one at the top bow/crook of the tuba, which would be used by the left hand.
