I have a Steam Deck Oled, a high end PC a Switch and a PS5. I play with my Steam Deck more than I do with all my other consoles including my PC. That doesn't make the Steam Deck better (of course my PC is better) but as a Dad I can now play everywhere. That's the difference between the Steam Deck and a non-handheld consoles/PCs

Exactly. If it wasn’t for my Steam Deck wouldn’t play at all. It’s fantastic for dads.

I bought the OLED at Xmas last year and haven’t put it down since. I love Steam and how you can customise your profile so much, badges, themes, steam levels etc makes consoles look dull as hell. My PS5 is a dust collector now. And the fact it can run games like RE4 remake and Spider-Man remastered astounds me. Sure you have to tweak a few settings and find the sweet spot but honestly the best thing I’ve bought for a long long time

Got mine a year ago, too. Things I really appreciate is the possibility to emulate alot of games for different consoles. Via emudeck, the Steamdeck becomes such an awesome emulation library. Also non-steam games work quite nicely, at least I got a few games that I couldn't boot but games like Pokemon fangames made with RPG Maker work quite decent. Indie-games, too. Even a Dark Souls mod called Archthrones can be installed seperately so you have DS 1-3 but also Archthrones as well. The only downside is that you cant play with the highest settings, sometimes being able just the lowest settings. But now that AMD FSR3 is a thing, games can run with 60 FPS even on more extreme settings. Spiderman Remastered now works basically on ultra with 60 FPS. I love my Steamdeck.

My first Steam Deck was the OLED, I got it when they announced it. Now six months later I have purchased the Steam Deck LCD for my misses as a birthday gift for myself lol. Loved the Deck so much I had to share.

i bought steam deck for indie games and some xbox / PC games i missed (i had a ten year break from games). and i have a ps5 now for "shinny loud AAA" I tried Devil May Cry 5, but its to messy for a little screen. But more slow action games like Dark Souls 1 - plays great. I have just finished it. New Hitman trilogy plays great. But the best surprise I've got was discovering CRPG that i completely missed in my youth. these touchpads work like wonder for this genre. i am playing Planescape Torment, Baldurs Gate 1/2 , Original Sin 1,2., Gears of War tactics...And plan to fill all the gaps there's left..

One thing I can recommend as a dock is just a 3m long, quality, 10Gbps 45W+ certified usb-c male to female cable (mine was certified for 100W), and connect that to a "USB-C to HDMI"-adapter/dock (mine was 65W, 10Gbps certfied, 4K60fps). That way you don't need an extra gamepad that lack many of the Steam Deck's features in terms of input. I just play on the Steam Deck itself with full control; trackpads, back paddles, touch, gyro etc. + no latency. Sure, you need to be tethered to your display, but personally I prefer it over the "wireless peripheral hell" we find ourselves in these days (always needing to charge stuff). my setup feels like connecting a wired controller, it's actually kind of great. :)

@@rel8716 Can't do that unfortunately. RU-vid will flag it as spam and delete the comment. I'm so sorry, but I have imported all of mine from china. (The place starting with "ali" and ends with "express"). Just use search words such as "usb-c to hdmi adapter" or "dock", and browse until you find something that seems decent. For the cable search for "usb-c female" and browse until you find one that is certified. Mine was certified for 100W PD and 10Gbps with good reviews (I also searched for "angle" or "90 degree" since I wanted a cable that puts less strain on the Steam Deck's connector.

@PixelShade Месяц назад
@@rel8716 Sorry I can't. The comment will be removed. You are likely to find what you need if you search for a 10Gbps 45W+ male-to-female usb-c cable (mine was rated for 100W and has a sleek 90-degree angle) and a USB-C to HDMI adapter/dock that is certified to the same requirements as mentioned above or use the search word 4K60. I imported my stuff from China. The cable was 10$ and the dock was 15$. Keep in mind that the female connector is only required if you find hdmi adapters/docks with pre-soldered cables (which is common). If you are lucky and can find one where you can plug your own cable in, you just need to look for a standard 10Gbps usb-c cable.

I broke my shoulder last month when on a mountain biking trail my front wheel hit a random rock and I went flying over the bars, landing on my right arm. The steam deck is the only way i can keep gaming at this point lmao. Can’t use a mouse cuz my arm is in a sling. But controllers work fine, so the deck is perfect rn

I recently bought a Steam Deck OLED, and after just half an hour of playing, my eyes and head started to hurt a lot. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a solution to this problem. It turns out that many people find the OLED screen on the Steam Deck very uncomfortable, and it causes severe eye strain. So, if you experience similar discomfort, know that the OLED display is to blame.

I think I'm in the minority for getting an Oled because of the other features besides the screen. Better battery, thermals and fan were great dealbreakers.

Before I even watch the video I’ll comment. A little over year ago I couldn’t decide whether to by a Steam Deck or a ROG Asus so I bought both. A year later for reasons I don’t have time to go into right now I’d say my portable game time has gone 70 percent to the Deck and 30 to the ROG. There’s just something about the Deck that makes me gravitate to it over the ROG.

I have a few Windows handhelds that are as powerful if not more so than the Deck and I still play the Deck a lot more than them. I can totally relate.

At least the thumb sticks are in a good position. On the PSP, PS VITA, and other handhelds, they are too low for me. And that stops me playing as my thumbs get sore and feel like that they are locking up.

i had a steamdeck from day one and honestly been one of my worst purchases. playing a game on such a small screen for me is a waste of time. plus hacking into the stupid linux to find a way around to play a game to realise its much different to play on a controller and on a tiny screen with silly frames or converting to windows and having no auto brightness and other things not working, for me its complete rubbish i find it hard to understand who would honestly like such a thing
