I have a larger version of this hotdog steamer... but I always give the hotdogs a headstart about 5 minutes then I add the buns, otherwise the buns get to hot and soggy.

Hey guys I brought the steamer from a yard sale and it had no manual so I sort of figured it out but went on line just to see if I had it right and I ran across your video which was helpful and interesting and a fun cool video. Thanks for doing it. You never really know what helps a person and this is why I appreciate you tube and people like yourselves. Next time cut up the onion and I’ll take a bite too.😁 Keep making fun videos and keep enjoying each other.

Amy's gadget makes her the winner of the contest. Eric had the better presentation, but the hot dog steamer did what it said it would do. Amy, ketchup & mayo tastes great. That's how I ordered them a long time ago, and I still like them that way. I also replaced the mayo with sour cream and it was really great, too! Seems to me, that there is too much moisture accumulating on the inside of the lid on the buns so, maybe try to do it without the lid? I think it is really sad that you can only steam 4 buns and 8 dogs. I want natural casing franks, and it looks like it would hold them. I like to use a three-tiered Bamboo steamer, for dogs & buns.

Little known fact:mayo seals the bread! I put mayo on meatball subs to seal the bread! When I was a Wendy’s manager 40 years ago, everyone was trained mayo goes on first to seal the bun.

My choice is the hot dog steamer. I have no need for a spoon maker I can eat! I like hot dogs but I don’t eat them often enough to purchase a machine just for that. I am very picky about gadgets and really have to want something and know I will use it enough to justify the purchase, big or small! Good luck!

Thanks Barbara. I agree that we don't need either one. But, they are kinda fun. So for the challenge, which one is.....fun, useful, better deal, etc. But I agree, I just usually nuke or boil my hotdogs. But steaming them is kinda interesting.

Fun gadget! I never seen sour cream or mayo on a hot dog. Fun! Love the idea, but space is limited (my kitchen is soooooo small.

I always put a layer of paper towels then layer the buns on the paper towels when you take them out of the steamer then another layer of paper towels on top. Gently dab dry. Let sit a minute and presto perfectly dry steamed bun and no more soggy wet bun. 😮😊

Wrap the buns in foil. Put cheese butter & bacon or whatever you like. It will melt while it's heating up and won't get soggy.

Could try and put all the toppings on first then stick in the top for a quick steam it would melt all the cheese and be perfectly steamed . Instead of steaming the buns for 7 mins ?

Ollie's Bargain Outlet store. We bought it a few months back. If you have one near you, it may be worth a trip. Just make sure you have a coupon since they seem to issue coupons AFTER you first sign up for email with them (not on the first visit).

Thanks for watching. Not sure if ketchup is worthy of crying. I don't care for ketchup on mine either. well, that and mayo. I like to keep it simple with mustard and optionally onions and dill relish and cheese. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the video.
