This film was made in 1991 with my good friends Kevin Finn and steam enthusiast (and presenter) Rob McCaffery.
Includes an interview with Dr. Peter Beet who formed Steamtown Railway Museum Ltd. Also interviewed is Joe Singleton.
Some of the trains featured include:

Barclay (2343) 0-4-0ST No.4 'British Gypsum'

Carnforth MPD (Motive Power Depot) is a former LMS railway depot located in the town of Carnforth, Lancashire.
Developed in 1944 on the site of the former London and North Western Railway (LNWR) depot, its late construction in the steam locomotive age resulted in its long-term use and conservation by British Railways. Targeted as part of a preservation scheme, when this failed it was developed as major visitor attraction Steamtown Carnforth. Today, closed as a museum, it acts as the major national operational base of the West Coast Railway Company.

Tommy Stevenson on the regulator - top man, who I worked with many times. Ken Nuttall on the shovel - Carnforth's last man.

My father worked with Tommy Stevenson and Ken Nuttall when he transferred to Carnforth in May 1992

We came up to carnforth one day from clitheroe and it was closed down. It was very disappointing. We didn't even get a braw.

great video nice to see the museum as it was also makes it sad the way its been neglected now i dont remember the museum being open we had a ride on the 15 inch gauge railway the year after the museum shut and i dont think it was long after that the miniature railway was sold of

It's sad, was a good day out. There used to be a Steamport at Southport, but that was shut in the late 90s and the site is now another bloody soulless retail park. Health and safety would have a field day with that place today. I think the last time I visited Carnforth Steamtown would've been the mid 90s.

The 15 inch railway has been changed to a 7/.5 inch and has moved to cinderbarrow, just off the A6. A lot of the old workers there at cinderbarrow used actually drive the 15 inch. So have a stop by

Great stuff, never seen this before. We visited Steamtown in May 1991 and there were quite a lot of people there including families with kids and a few fair rides and some helicopter taking off and landing on a nearby field (no idea what that was about). I presume this would've been a Bank Holiday weekend. There was also Britannia and Duke of Gloucester there outside, as well as the lower half of Nigel Gresley with its wheels in red and the tender in a different part of the shed it was in.

This is fantastic, and you've just earned my subscription as the video is so good. I would give anything just to be able to visit the shed at 10A and I wouldn't mind having a job at West Coast as working with steam is something I want to do when im older.
