This video is courtesy of my Dad, who is thoroughly enjoying his retirement by creating some DIY videos for us.
In this video, he shows us how to install some steel valve stems in the tires of his 2009 Dodge Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins. The original factory valve stems are rubber and flex with wheel rotation, especially when you add tire pressure monitoring sensors. Products linked for purchase from Amazon below.

Hot dam that worked! I have 16 ply trailer tires I air up to 105 psi and was hating having to break the beads to replace the valve stem grommets, but it worked!

Hey buddy you are as crazy as I am busting your own tires! lol That’s what keeps us in shape and out of trouble!! I popped on the net to get instructions on metal valve stems from someone like you that is using them correctly. I have always used both rubbers and it’s been a real pain getting the nut started!! Now I know the reason they give you two 😵‍💫

Hey, I really like that bead breaking idea. I've driven over them with a car or truck... forklift, to pop them off, but this is a much better idea. Live and learn.

I want to out metal stems on my 2007 Ram 3500. What length stem do I need? 1 - 11/2”. I’m a little confused on what to get.

I like the threading on the valve stem. Seems a lot of valve stems out there come with too little threading to handle the thicker metal on larger truck rims. Where did you get the valve stems? Thanks

Hi. How are those valves holding now? It's been 2 years. Also did you need to change the gromet every now and then? I think I have similar issue with my rubber valves with cap tpms. Few occasions now that I think the centrifugal force was making this rubber valve bent and leaking air while driving fast.

Probably a silly question: I’m going to replace rubber stems on my fifth wheel with metal due to adding flow-through TST pressure monitoring system. Is it possible to jack up a wheel and change out the valve stems without removing from my RV? Thanks-good video!
