That 2pt conversion throw was a laser! Kordell had the microwave ability but was just too inconsistent overall. With less than two minutes, Drew Bledsoe threw a costly interception & allowed Pittsburgh to tie this game with very little time remaining. The Steelers went into OT & used their momentum to thrust a W. Shoutout Norm Johnson!

This was a wild game! Drew Bledsoe really threw this one away. Kordell had back to back drives with a pick but cleaned his act up & was able to get the W (with some huge help from the D) I love watching the 1997 team. Don’t forget to like and subscribe! The season never ends in Yinzburgh! 🖤💛

I love the 97 team, but it sadly ended the way many of Cowher's best teams did....with a home loss in AFC title game against team they should have beaten (94 vs SD, 97 vs DEN, 01 vs NE). 04 vs NE I will give a pass to as NE was the better team. Heck, in 95 even if the Indy LB doesnt drop the INT, they lose that one at home as well. Cowher inner Martyball came out in AFC Title games at home! Love the videos!

@@jimmyplenderleith9471 surprisingly (to me anyways) is that Bill Cowher in his book called the 1997 team the best one in his 15 years in Pittsburgh.
@jimmyplenderleith9471
@jimmyplenderleith9471 Год назад
@@killalltogepis9916 It was a really good team. Kordell was still something new and different at QB, with the real threat of running that hadn't really been seen before. Jerome was in his second year, still entering his prime. The defense was young and really good. No matter what, the fact Cowher went 1-4 at home in AFC Title games and was BARELY victorious in the one win will always bother me. The way he would change the entire team philosophy in the playoffs and coach almost scared irritated me every year and in the end cost them big time. If Cowher coached the playoffs they way he did regular season games, I have no doubt the Steelers would have gone to 2 of 3 more Super Bowls during his coaching era.

@@jimmyplenderleith9471 agreed! Honestly I’m more bothered the Steelers didn’t win a Super Bowl in the 1990s then the 2010s with the Killer B’s.
@ItzYinzburgh

@@killalltogepis9916 Killer B’s get a lot of criticism but the defense had aged out by 2013. Building a D is harder than offense in today’s NFL imo. Love Cowher but just like Tomlin, he had his moments of strange calls too

Just amazing how much you forget over time as an NFL fan. I certainly watched this game, but I had totally forgotten that Pete Carroll used to be the Patriots head coach before Billicheck! That 1997 team was very clutch. They won 4 games down by 10+ with two overtime victories. They just would not die Stewart made a lot of great throws under duress in this game. It's a shame he struggled so much the next three years, but I place the blame mostly on the fact that Chan Gailey left and they tried to make Stewart a pocket passer.

From 1970-99 Pittsburgh played in New England a total of 4 times, 3 regular season games(1974, 1979, 1997), and one playoff game (1996). New England had played 12 times in Pittsburgh...11 in the regular season(1970, 76, 81-83, 86, 89-91, 93, 95, 98), once in the playoffs (1997). Since 2001, Pittsburgh has played 7 times in New England: 6 times in regular season (2002, 07, 08, 13, 15, 19), once in the playoffs (2016).
