Nice review!! I bought this keyboard with my xmas/bday money on January 1st (2022) online and it came in the mail on January 17th! I love it so far and is a nice upgrade from my Apex 3. It's a beautiful keyboard and I love all of the features like the OLED screen and the per-key RGB being my favorite features. It looks so clean and I hope to (eventually) get the Apex Pro.

That’s not how the hybrid switch works. The hybrid switch is mostly mechanical: its not pressing on rubber domes. It uses a membrane instead of a gold plated contact to actuate the key press so SteelSeries can save a feel bucks. The ones you’re describing are just normal rubber domes, and are found in the shitstorm that is Razer Ornata. Other than that, fine review. I would improve the energetic piece of your review, but the information is conveyed adequately.

The switch GIF does not look correct. Apex 5 uses discrete mechanical switch that pushes over membrane underneath, and the GIF is just a rubber dome over membrane mechanism, which Apex 5 does not use it.

I don't really care about the mechanical keys as much. I just want a keyboard that can change colour and is customisable. The one I have stays the same colour, transitioning from green on the left to blue on the right. It was about £15 from what I remember.

he doesn't. The image he showed to explain the switches is completely wrong as far as I can see, there is no "rubber dome" under the mechanical switch, instead there is a little pin on the bottom of the mechanical switch which actuates the membrane underneath. No rubber dome, no membrane feel, just a membrane actuation.

In short, this is regular keyboard with clicky sound, period. It's a fake mechanical key! Of course don't expect actual mech for $70... At least for now!

It is mechanical though. Its blue switches that's why its clicky. But the switches are hybrid. It uses membrane instead of gold plated. It's still mechanical though lmfao
