I've changed my clutch by removing the seat and hanging the transmission from two pipes across the floor boards. Pipes were easily slid on the floor to separate transmission from engine. From Watching your videos, this will be easy fix for you. Make sure the intermediate plate slides on the pins. They can bind up if rusty or dirty. Sadly, thats why mine wouldn't shift. I bought it cheap that way expecting much bigger problems and that was basically all that was wrong. Cheap fix, cheap tractor, the fun driving it,priceless 😂.
Help JT out folks, don’t skip the commercials so he can at least get a little bit of revenue to offset the cost of this HUGE task. It’s HUGE I tell ya! Good luck.
Stop signs who needs stop signs..... they overated... if its got a commercial truck clutch in it may I suggest you get a spicer easy pedal plus self adjusting clutch.. for it.... another thing you will need is an input shaft the same size as your tractor trans for an alignment tool... a truck clutch has 2 clutch discs with a center plate in order to align the clutch discs you need this shaft...also some bolts without heads might be able to help you align the plates till you bolt the clutch back in the flywheel.... dont remove the Bolts in the flywheel till the clutch is bolted tight to the flywheel you also need to install a new clutch brake... Ive worked as a mechanic in commercial trucks... they are not that difficult to install... another tip is to take the flywheel in and get it turned... and dont forget to replace the pilot bearing ... by the way ether works good to reinflate tires on beads...
Oh well, “ let’s tare down “ . You a smooth operator, the barn wall is still there lol ! Knowing you, you’ll get it back in good running condition! Green b getting surgery by doctor JT phdT
Thompson used those old 3208's in concrete pumps since way back when. They ran a bit longer than an Energizer Bunny could ever dream of. I'm curious about what would have made that throw out bearing fail? It has quite a few hours on it and most likely had a few nasty shock loads on it, that and it is getting pretty 'vintage' as well. If I did video's about repairs like this they would be almost silent movies after editing out the cussing. I hope your repair goes smoothly.
Good video! Dropping dual s with an impact looks a lot better than the ol' crescent wrench we used back in the day. Got a couple scars on my knuckles to prove it!
An easy way to get those duals off is to lay down a big post, railroad tie or chunk of small power pole so it goes between the tires and drive across it. 9 times out of 10 it will act as a wedge and pop the dual right off, provided both tires are fully inflated.
we are getting the same raining sh!t weather in central WI the past 3 weeks, could not buy rain all summer then it dumps while we try to get crops off, good luck on the green bastard
Go to a tractor grave yard and find a bunch of tires there. You probably will save a ton of money that way. You could also pick up some extra parts for Turd and Bastard while you are there.
Sorry to hear about the clutch failure. I would think pulling the floor pan and seat out of the Steiger. You will need a line up tool unless you have a big access cover in the transmission. If you watch Warren at Western Truck and Tractor Repair, one of my favorite RU-vid Mechanics, he puts the clutch on the input shaft and bolts it up through the inspection hole, using the transmission as a alignment tool. Probably going to need to have flywheel resurfaced Good luck, be safe
Thanks! I’m sure the flywheel will need a resurfacing. This will be a learning experience, and space is limited under there so that doesn’t help much either 😉
I had to drive Barney home with no brakes at all. Lines disconnected just blowing air all over and slack adjusters backed off. Gotta love them low geared diesels. Hoping to get back onto Barney this year. He needs to jump into some videos. And I need him on the road.
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 I mentioned you in my next video coming out lol. Did it today. But part of the job reminded me of what you got going on. Had to work on my Deere today.
Hi .J.t all you need is bit stone 2 8×4 sheet off board sale the mud. Just one job I never liked. Working on site in the mud all the tools I lost or got stuck in to my back. You want a pully on your beam to getting that seat out they are so heavy trying come down the steps. Good luck.
You need a big ol’versatile, my 700 there is a shaft you remove between the engine and transmission. Leaves enough room for a guy to hunch up in there and pull the clutch off the back side of the engine. Took us about and hour (by us I mean a mechanic buddy who knows what he’s doing) to pull it all out and about another hour to put it all back together. Only thing that gave us grief was finding a new input shaft. It was like finding unobtainium. We ended up getting a machine shop to rebuild it. Good luck there.
@@jtsbarnngrill6873my 1805 went the same as that Bearcat. I had to finish my digging so I had to just start the tractor in gear and ran it that way for several dozen hours before I finally replaced the clutch as you did.
I had a clutch go out on a big massy four wheel drive tractor it never made a noise or anything I pushed it in and it felt a little harder than normal but not real hard then it dropped to the floor and no clutch the whole center was broke out of clutch it happens
I have a 1975 Cougar II. Best tractor I ever owned. Had a Cat 333 in it, put 6,000 hours on the machine. Had to have the transmission fixed and I replaced the clutch. Still runs today. Those Bearcats were junk when they were new!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 mud in the header! Cutting bar all gummed up! Hope it dries enough so you get it done. I still have a few acres to pick up here also with snow forecast for next week. Standing down now bc of nearly an inch of rain two days ago.
Easy Pedal clutches are not self adjusting. The self adjusting clutches are called Solo clutches, which in my past experience are utter garbage. The Easy Pedal clutches have a manual adjuster on them. Also, the best way to install the clutch is the way we do it on the big trucks, that is to install the clutch on the input shaft piece by piece and then install the transmission. That way everything is aligned perfectly and you can bolt up the clutch through the inspection hole. 😊
Flywheel needs to be resurfaced and the way I check semi clutch adjustment is with a 5/16 bolt about 6" or 7" long and stick it between the throw out bearing and the clutch brake. The gap needs to be about a 1/2".
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 but I've seen people do stuff like that. My grandpa is a prime example. He said the flywheel in our 1466 was good enough to run again without turning it or anything. It was heat cracked and worn down. I wasn't putting a clutch in without a new flywheel. Make sure there's plenty of life left on the flywheel as well but being a semi flywheel it will probably be good enough to turn and send it again.
Always an mf to the rescue . 1155 will save your butt .how's the broken schutte .I'm not allowed to be volger .trade me on my case . .good luck jt ..😂😂
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 I thought I saw some ice or tiny bits of snow in the background. Must have been glare off the water. Sorry you’re having so much rain. I’m putting a starter in my Deere this morning as soon as the sun comes out. She’s got a whopping 430 hours on her. Figure it’s time for a starter lol.
